Valerie was a 17-year-old girl, living with her family in Arlington, Indiana. Her mom had moved them here, just outside of Indianapolis, to help get her daughter away from violence. During the summer of 2023, Valerie was working a handful of jobs, including helping her neighbor, a 59-year-old man named Patrick Scott, with his lawn care business. The two seemed to have developed a friendship and even when they weren’t working they sometimes spent time together. However, on June 7th, 2023, Valerie went to work that afternoon for Patrick and vanished. After being reported missing Patrick told police she did not work for him that day, and that he hadn’t seen her. He ended up changing his story to say that he WAS with her that day, but that he saw her get into another man’s car and drive away. Because he lied to officers, he was initially charged with false informing. Then, on November 28th, a search warrant was executed on his property and sadly her remains were found in a homemade wooden box made of 2x4s. He was arrested, charged with murder, and quickly confessed to strangling her with his belt. He claims Valerie was trying to blackmail him into buying her a car.

I feel like he tried to make a move on her, she rejected him, and he got so angry he killed her. Also, I hate to judge people based on appearances but he literally looks like every child predator rolled into one person. The box of papers and VHS tapes is DEFINITELY CP. I also feel like he’s probably killed before. Rest in peace to Valerie. She seemed like such a beautiful soul who was going to do great things with her life and that was taken from her because of this monster.
I’m thinking the exact same thing. They were in his bedroom and he took his belt off at one point, I doubt it was when they were “shoving” each other. He clearly already built the hole and already knew how and what to do with the body, there’s definitely way more that’s left out

I would think that but maybe they were something a little more. I mean doing a lot of activities alone and willing to spend time with him alone. Then he had her tracked 24/7. Sounds like a psycho bf. Maybe he saw something he didn’t like, for instance talking to a boy or something and he killed her in a rage fit.
I completely agree with you! Even if she was plaining to "blackmail" him, if he wasn't guilty why would he be forced to kill her. His story makes zero sense and I truly feel for this family.

He tried to have sex with her or came on to her. She said no and he was worried she was going to tell someone. Or it had been going on for awhile and she threatened to tell someone and he killed her. His excuse is such bull crap.

*Listening to her mom tore me up, as I know what losing a child is like. One of my twin sons died just weeks before his and his twin's 16th birthday, so around the same age as Valerie was. It was an unknown medical thing, but the devastation is the same. Literally the worst grief there is. Love & Light to them.*

I'm more worried about his twin, who has Asberger's. And we can't do anything to help him other than be there for him always, and make sure he knows that. I am sure losing your twin has a special hell to it.

In my opinion, this is a bit neglectful of the parents. Who lets their child hang out with an old man?
I’m about to be 17, also born and lived through some hard times in Indianapolis and also moved to a smaller area. I share a lot of commonalities with Valerie, so I find this case really close to my heart and of course very saddening. My heart breaks for her and her family and I wish them the best in healing and I hope justice gets fully served ♥️I’m also glad that the authorities reacted quickly and took the family’s worries seriously considering that unfortunately, that’s not super common these days
Just stay away from older people. No matter how "cool" they may seem. One thing I've learned in life, people are pretty bad and don't care who or what they hurt. Just focus on school and be cautious of people's intentions!
Parents have to wake up. Don't let your kids hang out with any adult. Not even your own brother, way too many uncles have done this. Even doctors, teachers, coaches, trust no man with your most precious beings.
Maybe the pos burned down his garage for insurance money or to distract the sniffer dogs.

Ugh this case hits so close to home. Literally… About an hour away. I remember hearing about her disappearance and felt gut-wrenched as details began to emerge. So scary how many monsters walk among us… thank you for talking about this case, Kendall.

u know what really bothers me about cases like this is that these people clearly know they are sick and family members also probably know they are sick, they don't help them or suggest help. It hurts my heart that these things happen

I live in Indiana, about 30 miles north of Indy, and had not heard about this. How so sad, and to know it wss someone who was supposedly a trusted
family friend, and someone who had emplpyed Valerie, is just sickening. We will keep this family in our prayers, that justice is given quickly, and severely.
He never deserves to see NEVER breathe fresh air again, NEVER deserves to see the light of day again.

Especially for those of us who live here in Indiana. I'm sure it's like that for everyone in every video. It's just a bit of shell shock because Indiana is a pretty quiet place to live. Obviously, we have crimes here but it's not like some places. It's really pretty quiet.

As someone who lived next to this predator and almost fell victim to his tactics, i dont see how his wife and daughter didnt know any of it was going on or the fact that she was in his office for a day like thats insane. (I've been in that house several times the rooms are too close together for them "not to know anything")
I worked for him at a young age but always had my older sister come with me when we would work. All of a sudden i had to stop working with him and couldnt go over there or hang out with his daughter (my stepfather at the time wouldnt allow us to but he is also a predator so i guess they know the signs 🤷♀️) but he tried to convince my dad to let him take me to disney in florida and send me back on a bus to texas (which is where i was moving). I was only 12. This man had to of done something like this before to others.
I cant believe this happened to her and how nonchalant he was about describing the details of his crime.
I hope and pray her family gets the justice they deserve and that he rots.

Absolutely disgusting! He murders her and then tries to blame it all on her! He’s above “being seduced “ but then commits murder?! I don’t believe any of that nonsense for a second but just the fact he thought that was a great excuse is very telling of his character. He’s a monster and I’m so thankful he was caught.

You just CAN'T trust anybody and there's no safe haven in a little town anymore. It's one of the saddest realities for us parents raising kids in such terrible times and needing to have an extra eye out on almost anything. That pos is just...i don't even know how to describe how he makes my stomach turn.

Please do Amanda Harms Muskogee Ok, this just happened a couple weeks ago and the police are saying no foul play. Family is fighting my for her, she left on foot in the snow “going to the store” with no phone or wallet. Police found her a week later 3 miles from her house in a shed. Family didn’t see her till the service and are very upset how much trauma she looks to have gone t her Pugh but Muskogee PD is saying no foul play or suspension… 🙏🏼
