Some really great tips have definitely made some of those mistakes. I would love to fish clean water, but I live in South Carolina and I don’t think I’ve ever seen clean water before.
All my Galveston peeps just stopped watching after tip #1. Haha!! The "dirty" water in this video looked cleaner than we ever truly see in Galveston. We get clear water for about 10 days every 3 years. The rest of the time it is disgustingly dirty and brown. Haha!!
Wow, that was some great advice. I am especially guilty of surf fishing too far out. It makes perfect sense that the Pompano are close to shore grabbing the sand fleas as the wave recedes. I never thought of that. Thanks for a great video.
That aint no lie. Lol. You must be from Texas too. My local beaches have 6 sandbars also. Reading the beach is almost not worth it. It becomes just picking what sandbar may not have hard heads.
I couldn't wait to see his "dirty water" and here in the upper Texas Coast that's a hurry up and load the truck Day if the water ever looks that good at Surfside Beach !
Tony, Great tips! Dirty Water is definitely #1. Gin clear water can be less than spectacular too. I like water that's just a hair dirty and it's more clear green vs clear blue. I keep my Fishgum and Fishbites fresh by keeping in a tupperware container in fridge. They will last 3 times longer.

LOL, I was hoping something new. But it is good to be refreshed. I moved (very reluctantly) to Arizona in 1987. Every year I planned on returning until I gave up after the 22nd year. I’m able to go home for a visit, been trying to refresh my memories. Reading the water is the most important thing. I have been on Google Earth, looking at the shoreline. Trying to read the bottom from from Wave action. It tells you a lot by what you might find. Part of the adventure is there is always that one fish who can’t read, which is a complete surprise.

Are fish bites and fish gum competitors? Dude is telling us to use a competitor?? THAT is a good business owner. Transparent and honest. He isn't passionate about making money, he is passionate about surf fishing and the money will come. Good on ya buddy. Good luck.
Fish gum or fish bites. They both just flat out work. I live just outside gulf shores and I fish orange Beach fort morgan and gulf shores. Both brands work well. I use them to top off fresh cut shrimp. Sand flea or electric chicken fishbites or pomp candy fish gum. Both catch whiting and pomps. Last February I caught like 7 massive black drum in the surf just using the blue crab fish bites.
I’ve been studying Bama beach bum and hey skipper. Both are great fisherman when it comes to the surf, I’ve learned from both of them that usually the first or second sand bar are usually great places because the white water washes all those crustaceans like sand fleas out. Furthermore holes or pools apparently work too.
Liked your videos a lot.. we don't get fishgums here in India.. so I will have to take fresh shrimp or may catch some sand flies... I am planning for my first sea beach fishing adventure here in india.. your content seemed helpful to me. Thanks

What's so good about Pompano? I'm on the West coast, so I'll never see one unless I travel, but it seems like that's 90% of what I hear about from the East coast and Florida boys. Are they good fighters? More challenging? Or just good eating fish?
On Vancouver Island just before spawning season starts coho and certain other varieties spring salmon such as all pool in front of rivers waiting for the rains to start before they start heading up the rivers but sometimes due to lack of rain these fish are sick
(I meant to say thick not sick) the fish pool in front of the rivers waiting for it to rain sometimes they're so thick you can see them in 3 ft of water that's when I like to surf fish and what I like to use are shore denizens such as surf crabs and little tiny surf fish and the little tiny prawns and clams that live in these areas as the tide comes in the salmon start gorge in themselves on the shore denizens sometimes even bears are down there fishing them with us. One day I was using a herring cut plug and just casting it out in the surf when a large spring salmon grabbed onto it being a spring salmon probably I know they're only good for one hard long run and then they pretty well don't give you a good hard one again so as I was pulling it back in thinking, WoW! lucky me when it started to take off again. I realized that I was fighting a seal who was trying to steal my fish. and I was ready to cut my line when I looked out and saw the seal stick its head up sure enough there was a big fish next to it but not in its mouth I could see the hook off to one side of the seals mouth I was afraid to let it go with all this line hanging out and with the hook stuck in it cuz I had stainless steel hooks and I knew I had 80 lb test line so I just pulled the seal slowly over time and tired it out a small harbor seal juvenile probably and I finally got it close to shore( my wife likes to eat seal) but it's beautiful eyes and eyelashes made me feel compassionate for it and it didn't try to get the away too hard ,I think I had tired it out at that point and I had needle nose pliers on extensions for unhooking the threshing sharks we had been catching also barbless hooks. I thought that it would grab my salmon and swim away once free but I guess it was traumatized and it just left. The Spring Salmon floated in the water with me and the Bears eyeballing it but I was quicker and ran out and grabbed my salmon. (38 lb spring salmon) when the rain is late I do the same thing every time
