I enjoy your videos! Everytime I see a skate or sting ray I think of when I was a kid and my dad and uncles were flounder gigging in Hatteras in the middle of the night. My Uncle Mike got stabbed by a skate and all but passed out there in the sound! He made it and he was an avid fisherman and hunter. He passed away about 9 years ago so I enjoy remembering him.
Keep on going out and fishing during the winter. Love looking at your videos, even out here in Ventura California, where you don’t see too much beach fishing (lots of fishing from Ventura Pier). My dad, who was a Navy carrier pilot, was stationed for a while in pensacola during world war 2. My mom was a young bride, and she always held a soft spot for pensacola, as do I, even though I’ve never been there before. So please keep it up!
@@donalddowning4108 my friends and I will usually charter a boat through Channel Islands Sport fishing out of Oxnard. We’ve had some good luck with them. We always have a good time, even if the fish aren’t biting.
@@MrDellasc I haven’t been out on a charter there in awhile. I have a couple of buddies with boats. I pay for bait, beer, or fuel and we head out to one of the islands.
Brandt, here is a Scandinavian recipe for Whiting fish. Soused Whiting Fish with Pickled Vegetables for the whiting fish: 6 whiting fish fillets (from 3 whole fish) 1/4 cup Wondra flour fine sea salt freshly ground black pepper canola oil for the vegetables: 1 small red onion, thinly sliced 3 small radishes, thinly sliced 2 small carrots, thinly sliced for the brine: 1 cup apple cider vinegar 1 cup water 1/4 cup granulated sugar 1 tablespoon salt 2 teaspoons black peppercorns 2 teaspoons coriander seeds 1 bay leaf for the garnish: sour cream fresh dill Pat fish dry. Season each side with salt and pepper and coat with flour. Warm a thin layer of oil in a sauté pan set over medium-high heat. Add fillets skin side down and cook 2 minutes per side. Remove to a plate lined with paper towels. Add fillets to a shallow casserole. Add the onion, radish, and carrot slices to a bowl. To make brine, combine vinegar, water, sugar, salt, and spices in a small saucepan; bring to a boil. Pour half the brine over the sliced vegetables and cover with a small plate to submerge them. Pour the remaining brine over the fish. Let fish and vegetables come to room temperature. Chill overnight. Serve with dollops of sour cream and sprigs of dill. Yield: 6 appetizer servings.
And here I sit, and it is balmy 1 degree out, where I am. If I could drive, I'd be heading south. I am tired of COLD! Stay sharp and tight lines. ACK, that is an expensive rod...
this is a crazy bait for flounder but it works use a bucktail cut a strip of bacon about 3-4 in long tie the bacon to the bucktail hook with fishing twine it works dont know why bacon has a strong smell so im thinking thats why bump alond the sea floor you will fell a weight let him eat it for a few the set the hook.
Love your videos. Only comment would be more detail on rigs and spot chosen. Jealous of the ability to site fish. Northeast I.e New Jersey not so much. Keep up the great videos.
I see the day you uploaded, but what day was this actual video? It's been pretty cold and damp out so far this year. Oh, and we owe you 5 minutes of you're welcomes. 😂😂
Great video. I'm just curious. The overhead view you made of the shoreline. What or where did you get up to date photos. I dont know about down there as much, but up here in NC, those spots can change monthly, even weekly. seeing as I only get out to the coast a few times a year, when I find a good spot, the next trip, it will be gone. Thanks.
I was personally trying to ask something else entirely different, and then started thinking to myself why is this video still playing with the: "Thanks for watching" phrase up for the next whole six and a half (approximately) minutes till the end and then I lost my train of thought to what I originally was going to comment or ask, lol. Guess I'll have to get back to it later if I remember.

$225 for a fishing pole ,must be for the Tuna . I can buy five of what I catch Reds Trout Red Snapper ,any Reef fish . It must have the Cool Name printed on it ,Like a Nike Rod.
But the sand shifts day to day in the littoral zone and Google imagery is updated maybe from year to year. Is it reasonable to use it to find deep holes or rip tides rather than just reading the break?
I use it all the time especially sound side. It takes me directly to a hole on calm days like 80% of the time. If it’s rough or has been rough then that’s a different story.
I wish someone would "get mad" or start an issue about me fishing on a public beach, it'd be a quick call to FWC explaining how I, a legal outdoorsmen, am being harassed while trying to legally partake in any hunting/fishing activities. Which is a crime.
Are the beaches that empty around you all the time so that you can fish in peace without a lot beach goers around? I don't see a lot people around when you, Beach Bum and Brad fish? Are empty beaches common?
@AnglerUpTv fishing hasn't been toooo bad for me lately, but I'm a complete wimp in cold weather so that's definitely sucked. Ready for spring! Cheers Brant.
Great video Brant Great bite on the Whiting The deck is looking really good.

Never saw too much surf fishing in Ventura County. Personally, the only surf fishing I ever did there was at Point Mugu Navy otherwise it was pier.

Whiting are some very good eating fish. They have really white flaky meat, one of the best eating fish off the surf right under pompano.

Sound side may be different since there’s not as much wave action to shift the sand. Thx.

HEY....GIVE FRED A FISH......
Clear nose skate. You can grab them by there clear nose to throw them back.
How about a remora catch and cook!
Lol good video but the tanks for watching is gonna mess with your algorithm
How often is Google maps update? That could be from years ago 🤷🏽♂️

Our area has only public beaches so there’s lots of room
Those Google maps photos are useless unfortunately. They can be old and those holes shift every time a storm blows threw. The sand is ever shifting.
Not if the holes are visible once you get to the beach. I’ve been fishing some of these same holes for 20 years.
20 years ...Wow. Hurricane Sally and Dennis wrecked all the holes I fish. Glad your spots are special.@@AnglerUpTv
