It's pretty well documented by historians that Zionism originated with Evangelical Christianity in the late 19th century when there was a renaissance in emphasis on prophecy and its interpretation. Christian scholars identified the return of Jews to Israel and THEN the idea spread to Jewish groups. Not the other way around.
The Zionists didn't invent dispensational theology, John Darby did in the 1830's. There is some evidence that Zionism had some standing in Judaism prior to 19th century because Raban (1194-1270), with respect to Number 33:53 stated, "That we are commanded to take possession of the Land which the Almighty, Blessed Be He, gave to our forefathers, to Avraham, to Yitzchak, and to Yaakov; and not to abandon it to other nations, or to leave it desolate, as He said to them, "You shall dispossess the inhabitants of the Land and dwell in it, for I have given the Land to you to possess it," and he said, further, "To Inherit the Land which I swore to your forefathers (to give them)"; behold, we are commanded with the conquest of the land in every generation." I believe this was mostly a minority position before the 18th/19th centuries. However, the debate in Judaism was not whether they were going to return to land or not but more in respect to timing (i.e., before the arrival of Messiah or after the arrival of Messiah). In this case, I believe based on my readings, the majority position was when or after Messiah arrives which was held by Rambam.
Also, it is worth mentioning that Meir ben Barukh's (1240 -1290 AD) Responsa (Teshuvot Maharam; Rabbinic clarifications to the Torah and Oral Torah) states that it is mitzvah to emigrate to Israel. Q. Does a father have the authority to restrain his son from emigrating to the Holy Land? A. Since it is a mitzvah to settle in the Holy Land, a father has no authority to restrain his son from fulfilling this mitzvah; for one must honor the Almighty above one's father.

I had heard this claim as well but never repeated it because I never looked into it. Yes, we need to verify sources but I think people are willing to go along with the claim without investigating for themselves because it does fall in line with motive and opportunity. The motive to garner support for the Zionist state of Israel (there were definitely mixed motives among all those involved) from the Christian community was and still is in place. I tend to focus on the immediate, existential crisis of the genocide in Gaza and the fact that Evangelicalism supports it. The war crimes are absolutely horrendous and ongoing. American Christianity is sick to the core for their support of these war crimes. I think Christians, who want to make a difference, should focus on that instead of these side issues.

From the very beginning he was a murderer and has never been on the side of truth, because there is no truth in him. When he tells a lie, he is only doing what is natural to him, because he is a liar and the father of all lies. But I tell the truth, and that is why you do not believe me. Which one of you can prove that I am guilty of sin? If I tell the truth, then why do you not believe me? He who comes from God listens to God's words. This comment is not with respect Joel Webbon, because I only have the most superficial familiarity with him, but with the growing anti-semitic and/or anti-Israel sentiment within the church. Before October 7th I was running to claims in a church I used to attend that Jews controlled the judicial system and there were no real Jews today because modern Jews are actually Kazars. After October 7th this has only grown, I personally had someone in my church tell me that I shouldn't go to Israel (I volunteered a month after the attacks happened) because Israeli treated Palestinians terribly and they no longer had promises from God. I had a Presbyterian minister friend of mine call me up lamenting that several pastors in his denomination were claiming that there were no such thing as Jews, the Israelis had it coming, and even posting graphics indicating Christians and Muslims were allies.
I'd say simply read the bible... The Lord plainly tells us HE loves Zion. Psalm 9:11 KJV - Sing praises to the LORD, which dwelleth in Zion: declare among the people his doings.

"That we are commanded to take possession of the Land which the Almighty, Blessed Be He, gave to our forefathers, to Avraham, to Yitzchak, and to Yaakov; and not to abandon it to other nations, or to leave it desolate, as He said to them, "You shall dispossess the inhabitants of the Land and dwell in it, for I have given the Land to you to possess it," and he said, further, "To Inherit the Land which I swore to your forefathers (to give them)"; behold, we are commanded with the conquest of the land in every generation."
I believe this was mostly a minority position before the 18th/19th centuries.
“Jesus haters funded this scolfield guy to change Christian theology”. Who cares. lol this is not a serious discussion
Unfortunately more and more people talk like this. It’s a testimony to the degraded logic of society.
Exactly
if u dont think that the topic of "christian-zionism" is an issue today, then u are the problem! ur a blind lemming, stampeding off the cliff.
@@thebiblesojourner yea it’s kinda embarrassing. You’d think the creator would want to know who funded it / if they did
Exactly. Such a closed minded false teacher.
Scofield was the first Bible that had study notes in it??? And Carlson agreed?? Have they never heard of the Geneva Bible?
History isn’t a strong suit for many people.
‘Rothschild’ is a dog whistle for anti-Jew….always appears in anti-Semitic junk. Huge Rothschild family…some religious, some not. Shame on Christians placing ‘group guilt’ on ANY single entity. That is totalitarian thinking.
Carlson injecting himself into this topic is extremely concerning and hardly a scholarly Christian POV happening here. He's part of the dis "info" counter IC crowd.
No truth but the opposite. Or confusion.
totally beside the points
@@petervithus3971 He was addressing the claim that the Scofield Bible was the first study Bible made. Some people errantly have tossed that as a problem with Scofield's Bible.
Webbon is out in the weeds in many areas. This past year he has covered the following subjects on his podcasts: biblical giants (yes, they are in the bible, but if you look at his offerings you'll see what I mean), the grays, mermaids, faeries, bigfoot, hollow earth, the city of Atlantis, etc. I'm not making this stuff up, I promise.😶
Some interesting topic choices!
@thebiblesojourner Uh, yeah!
Did you not consult accredited historian pastor/author Bryan Ross because he's a Mid-Acts Dispensationalist? - FWIW, subsequent Lessons 75 - 80 covers The Life and Times of E.W. Bullinger who also produced a far more intense study Bible in this same period. Sadly, he died before its completion so his understudy C.H. Welsh published it from 1909 to 1922. Notoriety of his huge Companion Bible went largely unnoticed due to World War I and H.A. Ironside then posthumously producing his "Wrongly Dividing The Word of Truth" against Bullinger, who by then, could not respond.
(nothing quite like a good straw-man..)
- BTW, Ross does the best rebuttal I've seen of Carlson-and-Rich in his "John Rich, Tucker Carlson, C.I. Scofield & The Secret Rapture" (he includes visual copy proof of Rapture in context being mentioned in some theology work of Josheph Mede in 1665 among other proofs).
Fascinating! I will be checking this out. Thanks for the heads up on this. I was not aware of his work before. I look forward to evaluating it.
I applaud you for showing wisdom and restraint in not repeating things you haven't verified. Well done!
You lost me at, 'Who Cares"
Every statement has a context! Obviously I care since I made the video 🤣
Who is Israel?
Is Israel determined by DNA alone, or by character & behavior shaped by the LORD’s statutes & judgments?
“Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:” (Romans 9.6, KJV)
“Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.” (Matthew 21.42-44, KJV)
“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.” (Matthew 7:15-20, KJV)

And what man is he that hath planted a vineyard, and hath not yet eaten of it? let him also go and return unto his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man eat of it. And what man is there that hath betrothed a wife, and hath not taken her? let him go and return unto his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man take her. “When thou shalt besiege a city a long time, in making war against it to take it, thou shalt not destroy the trees thereof by forcing an axe against them: for thou mayest eat of them, and thou shalt not cut them down (for the tree of the field is man's life) to employ them in the siege: Only the trees which thou knowest that they be not trees for meat, thou shalt destroy and cut them down; and thou shalt build bulwarks against the city that maketh war with thee, until it be subdued.” (Deuteronomy 20.19-20, KJV)

Conclusion:
Zionist ≠ Israel
I am not sure how this relates to the original video though? 🤔
Good comment. Thank you.
@ “Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot bear to listen to my message. You are the children of your father, the Devil, and you want to follow your father's desires. You, however, are not from God, and that is why you will not listen."” (John 8:43-47, GNB)
“Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.” (Acts 7:51, KJV)
My argument uses both the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament showing Zionism, as we see it today to be a heretical teaching, period full stop! We are all obligated to speak up against it, both Christians, by the commandments of Christ, and the book of Proverbs are enough to prompt any practicing Jew and Christian to speak up against it. You are in favor of rotten fruit, the tree you are attached to will be cut down.
King David was a Zionist, so was Moses and Abraham. 🙂
@@1969cmp the difference is that they all (for the most part) obeyed the LORD, unlike the criminals in the land of Canaan today calling themselves Zionist.
Looking forward to this brother!
Hope it is helpful for you!
If you dont hate Judaism, then you aren't a christian.
From Your precepts I get perception;
Therefore I hate every false way.
- Psalm 119:104
But even so, you can hate false religious systems while still loving the people and desiring their salvation. That is important.
@thebiblesojourner right. And the best way to do that is to not coddle them in their error, but denounce it and call them out of it.
@@joncollins7129 Indeed. However, many confuse denouncing for unkindness. I think Paul's words are apt: "correcting [our] opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will." (2 Tim 2:25-26).
It depends on what you mean by Judaism. Like Christianity, there is Biblical Judaism and then there are variants and even new-age heretical 'Judaism' like Kabalah.
What system of faith do you think Jesus was affiliated with when He was growing up. Biblical Judaism, after all, Jesus was a Jew.
@1969cmp there is no such thing as biblical judaism. Judaism is the result of the Pharisees, not Moses.
Who are the rabbi Jesus talked about? God gave Israel to Jewish people, not Gaza!
I firmly believe that Joel Webbon knows what he is doing, this growing anti-Jewish retoric is creeping more and more back into the Church sadly. I see it in many of the Discord chats I am in with the amount of hatred for Isreal and the Jewish people. We need to call out these stupid conspiracy theories. Keep up the good work!
When Twitter was shutting down conservatives on Twitter, I moved to Gab for a while. I was shocked at how much antisemitic stuff was on there. Before that, I'd only seen antisemitism from Muslims and some Leftists. Andrew Torba himself despises Dispensationalism, calling it a doctrine from hell.
I personally doubt he knows exactly what he is doing, but regardless, the outcome is much the same-and the enemy loves the result.
The state of israel is a secular state by and large and its waging an immoral ‘war’ on children.
You are wrong. You are speaking like followers of Anti-Christ !!

What a lot of crap
There is a lot in the world! 🌎 💩
You know what to do. But, when it comes to something more serious, we all just sit there. Let our kids deal with it. LOL.
I'd say simply read the bible... The Lord plainly tells us HE loves Zion.
Psalm 9:11 KJV - Sing praises to the LORD, which dwelleth in Zion: declare among the people his doings.
Scripture does seem to be clear on the issue.
Thank you for addressing this. It’s been disturbing to watch the growing anti-Semitism in Christendom. About 4-5 years ago my son came home from college, an Augustinian So. Baptist school (unknown to us at the time), using “Zionism” as a slur. That was our first exposure to this sentiment.
I didn’t like that Tucker gave Rich an opportunity to spread lies, but Tucker opposes any American support of Israel, and in Rich he found a way to dismantle conservative support of Israel.
How foolish, deceptive and dishonest to conflate Ant-Zionism with Anti-semitism ! Being against and/.or condemning Israel and opposing the power that AIPAC's, ADL's and other Israeli lobby organisations exercise over the US congress, it's members, over the mainstream Media does NOT = being an Anti-Semite !
