There's a way to increase your attack even further. Switch the dober mail for Diablos Mail B and you'll have the two piece bonus resulting in you having Blugeoner which might not be a big boost but when you get to green sharpness you'll see an obvious change. Then you can fit in Fortify if you would like for even more attack but that would get in the way of speed sharpening.
Hahahai rewatched the first part a few times to check that. I was using a very similar build. My changes were the helm. I used the dragon king with using three ko charms.

I will admit this is not a pure damage based build and won’t hit as hard as the attack build in the video, but it maximizes your uptime on hitting the head as well as your KO potential, the charm is optional of course but I think making the monster tired even faster is a nice touch for all types of play
my current hammer build is: eye patch: exploit jewel, kushala chest beta : challenger jewel, nerg vambraces alpha, nerg coil beta: challenger jewel, nerg greaves alpha: attack jewel, might charm 2 and top end diablos hammer with elementless. All of this gives you Handicraft 2 for a bigger blue bar on anything, maximum might lvl 3: 30% affinity while stamina full, weakness exploit 3: 50% affinity when striking weak parts, attack 4: 12 attack 5% affinity, agitator 5: 20 attack 15% affinity when moster enraged and of course the 3 piece nerg set bonus which is health leech when you attack. All this together gives you a massive damage life leech build that gets 75% affinity to weak parts on the diablo hammer when monsters are enraged. It also gives 100% affinity during this time for anything with base 0% affinity or higher. I've struggled to come up with anything more well rounded than this. Please submit any thing you think could improve other than the obvious "but no speed sharpening" I wish I could've fit it in I do but DAMAGE BOI
I use the Death Stench Beta legs and a handicraft charm, instead of what you have. Then I swap jewels so I have Attack+7 Handicraft+5 Weakness Exploit+3 Speed Sharpening+3 Non-Elemental Boost Protective Polish I hit 1830 Attack without augmenting yet but also have white sharpness. Worth losing Slugger for imo (if it weren't, I'd put on my slugger charm and have Handi+2 instead).
7 attack is overrated. Here's my build currently. Dragon king eye patch, arch tempered nergigante mail, behemoth vambraces, gala waist and nergigante greaves with handicraft charm level 3. This gives me level 4 attack, weakness exploit level 2, critical eye level 2, maximum might and some other garbage. Anyways with the jewels I put on it (crit boost, crit eye, grinder level 3, 2 handicraft jewels, and a protective polish jewel) I have 1.4k attack, but the plus 40% attack damage on a crit with 10% affinity and 50% affinity on weakspots I hit for over the amounts shown here. Once i get a maximum might jewel that would be 70% affinity. And with grinder jewel level 3 and protective polish I keep white sharpness for 60 seconds then only cycle once to sharpen my weapon. Its overpowered.
Just a mini PSA, 493 attack with dual blades is the same as a hammer with 1830 attack because of the 1.4 weapon modifier for dual blades and 5.2 for hammer. (Doesn't mean a DB with the same true attack as a HM is going to do the same damage per hit, those are Motion Values, different topic.) If you divide a weapon type's attack by its modifier you get it's "true attack". So 1830 divided by 5.2 (hammer modifier) is 352. That number is insane for a game that is just up to high rank.

Remove all slugger, You might get 1 extra KO per hunt, not worth. Get maximum might. It might not seem like a good skill for hammer but it works. The attacks are slow so stamina is refilled before getting that big hit out. Max weakness exploit. Get a few points in agitator if you can.
Add in 2 pieces of the Odogaron armour for punishing draw, cook for Felyne Slugger, attach 3 KO jewels, and you'll KO'ing monsters all over the map. Really good fun.
Here’s my hammer build, it’s nice in my opinion and I enjoy using it. Bazel helm B with earplug jewel slotted, Rathalos chest B, Kaiser arms B with slugger jewel slotted, Bazel waist B with Slugger jewel slotted, Death stench legs with attack jewels slotted. And a handicraft talisman to top it off. This will give earplugs 5, handicraft 5, weakness exploit 5, slugger 3(if you use a level 2 slot hammer) and attack boost 4 if you fill in all the single slots with attack jewels. I use Pandemonium’s Root as my hammer. You can augment the hammer for slots if you want attack lvl 5 but that’s up to the user. I made this set based off the mh3 hammer set everyone used which was Helios with vangis greaves and an attack talisman for HG earplugs, sharp +1, and AuL with the devils crush (p). Very good memories and this is my nostalgic hammer set :). Enjoy
A better alternative once you’ve unlocked augmenting is the Barroth Hammer, as you can use 1 augment slot to get rid of the affinity penalty then put the rest into damage, basically overtaking the diablos Hammer completely at this point. Comes with a level 2 gem slot (elementless gem) and a level 1 gem slot (your choice, recommend attack gem if you need it). For a raw non-elementless attack build for Hammer, I use the diablos beta helmet, chest, and Gauntlets, the nergigante beta coil, and the diablos alpha pants. This gives you 3 slugger, 2 attack boost, and an elementless boost from the diablos set bonus. I’d use the impact mantle for extra KO damage if you think you need it, but I doubt you will, so go for rocksteady for best results. Also I intend to use the attack boost 3 charm, as it is a great damage boost, plus gives a nice 5% affinity boost at higher levels, though seeing as the build comes with nothing else boosting affinity or crits, it’s negligible. Problems with this build include a distinct lack of weakness exploit, which is perfect for Hammer as the head is generally a weak spot and if you’re not smacking the head with hammer you’re doing it wrong.
The Diablos Shatterer has -30% affinity. The Weakness Exploit (so long as you hit the weak spots) makes that a 20% affinity, and the Attack boost raises it by 5...so 25%. Those Grinder jewels could be replaced based on what you’re hunting. Really and truly a Critical Eye jewel or Critical Boost jewel would be sufficient replacements.
I've been using the Hammer, Switch Axe, and Greatsword pretty much throughout the entire game but the hammer is just the most satisfying. This looks devastating.
Well, don't equip Attack Boost +9 for starters. Replace the Rathalos Helm ß for Dragonking Eyepatch α. Also replace Kaiser Vambraces α for Kaise Vambraces ß. Perfect!
If you are looking for insane raw dmg id say go for agitator or other damage buffing stuf over the sluger/speed sharpening/tremor. if you are not i gues its fine having some defences here and there. if you want to ceep tremmor i sugest making sure to hit the ignore tremor marks required for each monster you are hunting.
Friend was using the hammer the other day. Thought it seemed better than the greatsword I was dicking around on and I thought "Well, I farm Vaal for shits and giggles... his hammer looks dope... sure, why not." Im a hammer main now.
Sacrifice some attack/slugger points for another weakness exploit point. That and crit boost too. Those overall are a little better than fixed damage increase.
crit boost is not even worth taking on almost any build. it doesn't boost your final crit damage by 30 it takes the crit mod from 25% to 30/35/40% depending on the level of the gem. You'd get FAR more value out of trying to get handicraft and maintaining blue for longer or having any amount of white sharpness. White sharpness is roughly a 9-11% damage increase, the variation depending on a lot of factors but at minimum 9%
the only thing i can think of with this build is replace a grinder jewel (lets be honest, diablos stuff really doesnt need to be sharpened anyway) and put some affinity boost to negate some of the negative affinity on the hammer itself. that can be a real buzzkill if you can get a good combo off on a head, missing out on a solid 30 damage. Switch 1 Grinder Jewel with an Attack Boost Jewel and then Use a K.O Charm instead of the Attack Charm because its kind of a waste using the attack charm gives more than you can have on attack boost then you can use some other Jewels for the K.O Jewels instead too like weakness exploit
I guess no one spotted this your attack boost is over kill, rathalos helm 2 atk boost, dober mail 2 atk boost, attack charm lvl 3 this is seven already, nerg coil 2 atk boost starting at 1:58 in the video for a total of 9 atk boost.
May get more damage from handicraft than attack power if you can bump it's sharpness to the next level. And use speed sharpener and polisher to maintain a small sliver of white if it's possible to get from handicraft
nice build. dragon king eye patch to get more crit hitting the weak parts and a flinch free gem would make it even better. flinch free makes sure you dont get knocked back by other players or small dmg from the monsters like a sudden hit from feet from the monster. the rest is a nice build. personally i use the jail hammer with paralyze and stamina thief build. equipement: jail hammer ( working on getting its upgrade still haha ) dragon king eyepatch damascus mail B xeno Jiva claws B nergigante coil B death stench heel B attack charm 3 gems: crit jewel 1x attack jewel 1x paralyze jewel 3x slider jewel 1X tenderize jewel 1X drain jewel 2x mantles: rock steady mantle apothocary mantle skills: attack boost 6 paralyze attack 3 weakness exploit 3 focus 2 handicraft 2 stamina thief 2 critical boost 1 flinch free 1 affinity sliding 1 the stats in the end on the hammer are 1004 raw dmg, 230 paralyze 5% affinity. these stats are without the power boost skill from the hammer. the defence and resists on the armor are: 491 defence 5 fire resist 3 water resist -3 thunder resist 6 ice resist -11 dragon resist playstyle: sliding gives me another 30% affinity, after that hitting the weak parts i hit for another 50% affinity making 80% affinity ( the weapon has another 5% making it 85% ). because i have the crit jewel 2 gem ( 1x) i hit crits with 30% more dmg. because of the drain gems the monster is getting faster tired. because of that stuns and paralyze are easyer to give to the monster. making sure i can knock it out, paralyze and break parts more easy and make sure the monster is out of order for a long time. i use the rocksteady mantle at start to ignore the roars, knockbacks and tremors so i can keep on attacking. the apothocary makes sure i can paralyze the monster faster. with this build i had fights that the monster couldnt even get out of the stun lock and attack from the start. try it out i think you will like it.
i managed an affinity build that outputs similar damage. lvl7 critical eye and lvl3 weakness exploit plus a bonus 30% with affinity sliding. i just havent tried it with a hammer with 20% affinity. i wonder if that will increase its damage output
Pablo Escobar sometimes focus isn’t the best, I find myself preferring not to use it since I might get a larger window to use my lvl2 uppercut more often, focus is best used for greatsword, chargeblade, or possibly bow in certain play styles

How can you have so much attack? I have a build whit the diablos shatterer 2, 7 attack Boost, 1 non-elemental Boost (AKA same raw attack boosters as you) and when I power charge my hammer, it only gives me 1607 attack. I even have 2 points in agitator and im still not capable of reaching such high raw damage when the skill is active. You dont have any augmentations as well, what am I doing wrong?
I might try this build its less defensive than what i run by near 100 but looks fun. Nerg Hammer 2 slot augmented,nerg chest,Kaiser gloves.xeno waist & nerg legs. Gems are 3 KO 3 Drain 3 vitality with weakness ex charm. Works really really well.

Sorry but this is a bad build for the time this was made and even worse with new armors. First off, item buffs can be applied to anything, so I'm not going to talk about that. With two levels of weakness exploit, elementless, 7 attack up, and the default green sharpness, your true average attack rating is 309. The biggest attack number doesn't necessarily do the most amount of damage. Sharpness and affinity impact it greatly. You can get it up to 417 easily along with a couple other useful skills in addition: First off, double augment the hammer for affinity, bringing it from -25 to -10. Slot it with weakness exploit. Wear the handicraft III charm. Wear the dragon king eyepatch slotted with handicraft. Wear the Damascus B, with 3 attack jewels. Wear the Diablos Nero B, slotted with critical boost and an attack jewel. Wear the Lunestra B waist slotted with critical boost and maximum might. Wear the Lunestra B legs slotted with protective polish for infinite white sharpness for 1 minute and non-elemental boost. Your build hits for 309 true. This one hits 417, plus it has handy skills to boot like two levels of vitality for survivability, two levels of tool specialist for more mantles and boosters more often, and an increase to your max stamina.
I used them a lot early game actually, but later you'll unlock 3 better alternatives. The palico gadget "Coral Orchestra" can give you earplugs. The rocksteady mantle has built in earplugs and tremor resistance. The evasion mantle let's you roll through roars easily. I love earplugs, but they're such a huge commitment to gem in that I don't use them anymore
I’m sorry, even tho I’m prob going to try something else, where the hell is that helm from? I have rath helm a,b the red one. And I have rath soul (blue rathalos). I do not have a rathalos helmet that gives attack Damage boost 😧
Hold R2 like a normal charge, then push O. Will give you a buff of sorts. This will change the hammers moveset slightly though, so make sure you practice with it before you bring it out into the field. Or test it on Jagras...cuz lol.

pandemonium root with handicraft gives you white sharpness with a proper build you can have attack boost 7 with peak performance with that good white sharpness
Great build for farming easy stuff. I would not commit a lot of time to farming this set, because as soon as you start fighting things that can kill you, you will need a completely new armor set.
Since that hammer has little blue sharpness but a ton of green and yellow and since that armor set was over the attack cap, you could swap out either the dober mail or the ratholos head with a diablos armor piece to get bludgeoner which increases damage with lower sharpness to increase your overall damage output once that blue sharpness goes away.
Aneesur Rahman affinity is pretty much crit chance. If you have 20% affinity you have 20% chance of getting a critical hit. If you have -20% affinity u have a 20% chance of the attack doing 75% of your normal damage
Aneesur Rahman he has weakness exploit so as long as he attacks weak spots(you should always be doing this) he will always have positive affinity instead
Note: You can change out a armor piece if you use this exact build i was 2 over the Attack Cap X) !

Haz3 Spears slugger is a wasted skill. Even at level 3 it’ll only let you knock a monster out just 1 attack sooner

3 attack boost from charm + 2 from helm + 2 from mail + 2 from coil = 9 so you are wasting 2 skill points since you are capped at 7
Always remember to charge hammer as you get into a fight a fight. Using a charge 3 power charge makes no difference than using a charge 1 power charge
Well, don't equip Attack Boost +9 for starters.
Replace the Rathalos Helm ß for Dragonking Eyepatch α. Also replace Kaiser Vambraces α for Kaise Vambraces ß. Perfect!
If you are looking for insane raw dmg id say go for agitator or other damage buffing stuf over the sluger/speed sharpening/tremor. if you are not i gues its fine having some defences here and there. if you want to ceep tremmor i sugest making sure to hit the ignore tremor marks required for each monster you are hunting.
maybe mention that you used damage buffs to gain that damage

Sacrifice some attack/slugger points for another weakness exploit point. That and crit boost too. Those overall are a little better than fixed damage increase.
crit boost is not even worth taking on almost any build. it doesn't boost your final crit damage by 30 it takes the crit mod from 25% to 30/35/40% depending on the level of the gem. You'd get FAR more value out of trying to get handicraft and maintaining blue for longer or having any amount of white sharpness. White sharpness is roughly a 9-11% damage increase, the variation depending on a lot of factors but at minimum 9%

Too bad he's right. Crit boost doesn't actually increase your crit damage by 30%, it was mistranslated. It only goes up by 5% for each level.

the only thing i can think of with this build is replace a grinder jewel (lets be honest, diablos stuff really doesnt need to be sharpened anyway) and put some affinity boost to negate some of the negative affinity on the hammer itself. that can be a real buzzkill if you can get a good combo off on a head, missing out on a solid 30 damage. Switch 1 Grinder Jewel with an Attack Boost Jewel and then Use a K.O Charm instead of the Attack Charm because its kind of a waste using the attack charm gives more than you can have on attack boost then you can use some other Jewels for the K.O Jewels instead too like weakness exploit
I guess no one spotted this your attack boost is over kill, rathalos helm 2 atk boost, dober mail 2 atk boost, attack charm lvl 3 this is seven already, nerg coil 2 atk boost starting at 1:58 in the video for a total of 9 atk boost.
May get more damage from handicraft than attack power if you can bump it's sharpness to the next level. And use speed sharpener and polisher to maintain a small sliver of white if it's possible to get from handicraft

nice build. dragon king eye patch to get more crit hitting the weak parts and a flinch free gem would make it even better. flinch free makes sure you dont get knocked back by other players or small dmg from the monsters like a sudden hit from feet from the monster. the rest is a nice build.

-11 dragon resist
playstyle:
sliding gives me another 30% affinity, after that hitting the weak parts i hit for another 50% affinity making 80% affinity ( the weapon has another 5% making it 85% ). because i have the crit jewel 2 gem ( 1x) i hit crits with 30% more dmg. because of the drain gems the monster is getting faster tired. because of that stuns and paralyze are easyer to give to the monster. making sure i can knock it out, paralyze and break parts more easy and make sure the monster is out of order for a long time. i use the rocksteady mantle at start to ignore the roars, knockbacks and tremors so i can keep on attacking. the apothocary makes sure i can paralyze the monster faster.
with this build i had fights that the monster couldnt even get out of the stun lock and attack from the start. try it out i think you will like it.

Use a sharpening jew to make your weapon to white sharpness so you get the added buff. That would be better

i managed an affinity build that outputs similar damage. lvl7 critical eye and lvl3 weakness exploit plus a bonus 30% with affinity sliding. i just havent tried it with a hammer with 20% affinity. i wonder if that will increase its damage output

Attack only stacks to 7. You have 9 wasted from your armor. Replace one of the armor that gives you attack to not waste any slots.

Pablo Escobar sometimes focus isn’t the best, I find myself preferring not to use it since I might get a larger window to use my lvl2 uppercut more often, focus is best used for greatsword, chargeblade, or possibly bow in certain play styles
iisnotwizard - Yeah I switched it out for weakness exploit and attack boost both at max as well as lv2 slugger because I also just use the charged uppercut or the regular golf swings/ big bang

God You can add and remove the gems freely. No consumption and no cost. However augmentations which are a later thing cannot be undone.

How can you have so much attack? I have a build whit the diablos shatterer 2, 7 attack Boost, 1 non-elemental Boost (AKA same raw attack boosters as you) and when I power charge my hammer, it only gives me 1607 attack. I even have 2 points in agitator and im still not capable of reaching such high raw damage when the skill is active. You dont have any augmentations as well, what am I doing wrong?

I might try this build its less defensive than what i run by near 100 but looks fun. Nerg Hammer 2 slot augmented,nerg chest,Kaiser gloves.xeno waist & nerg legs. Gems are 3 KO 3 Drain 3 vitality with weakness ex charm. Works really really well.

Sorry but this is a bad build for the time this was made and even worse with new armors. First off, item buffs can be applied to anything, so I'm not going to talk about that. With two levels of weakness exploit, elementless, 7 attack up, and the default green sharpness, your true average attack rating is 309. The biggest attack number doesn't necessarily do the most amount of damage. Sharpness and affinity impact it greatly. You can get it up to 417 easily along with a couple other useful skills in addition:
First off, double augment the hammer for affinity, bringing it from -25 to -10. Slot it with weakness exploit.
Wear the handicraft III charm.
Wear the dragon king eyepatch slotted with handicraft.
Wear the Damascus B, with 3 attack jewels.
Wear the Diablos Nero B, slotted with critical boost and an attack jewel.
Wear the Lunestra B waist slotted with critical boost and maximum might.
Wear the Lunestra B legs slotted with protective polish for infinite white sharpness for 1 minute and non-elemental boost.
Your build hits for 309 true. This one hits 417, plus it has handy skills to boot like two levels of vitality for survivability, two levels of tool specialist for more mantles and boosters more often, and an increase to your max stamina.
how about earplug ? it is very usefull
I used them a lot early game actually, but later you'll unlock 3 better alternatives. The palico gadget "Coral Orchestra" can give you earplugs. The rocksteady mantle has built in earplugs and tremor resistance. The evasion mantle let's you roll through roars easily. I love earplugs, but they're such a huge commitment to gem in that I don't use them anymore

Hold R2 like a normal charge, then push O. Will give you a buff of sorts. This will change the hammers moveset slightly though, so make sure you practice with it before you bring it out into the field. Or test it on Jagras...cuz lol.

pandemonium root with handicraft gives you white sharpness with a proper build you can have attack boost 7 with peak performance with that good white sharpness
Great build for farming easy stuff. I would not commit a lot of time to farming this set, because as soon as you start fighting things that can kill you, you will need a completely new armor set.

Mr Obscene I'm well aware that a tempered elder dragon would wipe the floor with that build. You have to add defense even after augmenting your armor.

Since that hammer has little blue sharpness but a ton of green and yellow and since that armor set was over the attack cap, you could swap out either the dober mail or the ratholos head with a diablos armor piece to get bludgeoner which increases damage with lower sharpness to increase your overall damage output once that blue sharpness goes away.

Aneesur Rahman affinity is pretty much crit chance. If you have 20% affinity you have 20% chance of getting a critical hit. If you have -20% affinity u have a 20% chance of the attack doing 75% of your normal damage
Aneesur Rahman he has weakness exploit so as long as he attacks weak spots(you should always be doing this) he will always have positive affinity instead
