on top of that its an endgame skill in world. if you get it at any point past late endgame its actually a dps loss for 90% of builds compared to more common builds
A similar skill is Bludgeoner, from the HR Diablos armor set. The wording on it is a little missleading: it says it increases your damage as your sharpness goes down, or something to that effect, but what it actually does is give you an attack boost starting at green sharpness, and going higher the each tier you go down (green/yellow are the sweet spots usually). I use it in my gunlance build: I figure that since I use a normal (5 shells) type GL, I tend to eat through my sharpness super fast anyway, so why fight it? It lets me keep a consistent amount of damage from blue to yellow (still a bit higher in blue, but not a huge gap like it is without it), which lets me go a lot longer without having to stop and sharpen.
Here's just a quick list of specific weapon trees that will never reach white sharpness even with Handicraft: Bone, Jagras, Pukei, Barroth, Radobaan, Uragaan, Anjanath, Zorah, Kirin, and of course Nergigante (both Nergigante and Odogaron's weapons are unaffected by Handicraft, however Odogaron does natively get white sharpness). There are some exceptions to this like Great Wyvern Jawblade (GS), some of Tobi and Jyura's weapons never reach white sharpness for some weapon types and do for others. Quite a bunch of S&S trees never reach white sharpness oddly enough.
going from blue to white sharpness gives you a boost of 10% raw and like 6% elemental damage that stacks with other damage boosting skills. Take that info as you wish.
Did anyone else also notice how each level of sharpness corresponds with real life refractive indexes of the colors? In real life, the refractive index goes like this: Red-Orange-Yellow-Green-Blue-Indigo-Violet. Do you see the pattern now?
If you ever get "Polish Protector" (gem, gear, etc), you can get a sliver of white and then extend it out for a minute at a time, rather than having to stack Handicraft
Let's make this clear. If the monster roars, you cannot hit it with handicraft skill if you cannot move. If you can move while the monster roar, you can at least get an extra 300 damage, which in my opinion is way OP than 10 or 30 extra damage that will deplete very fast. In short, invest in earplugs, tremor res, wind res, etc. Those will help you land more hits. More hits are better than "big damage and less chance to inflict damage".
Light BWK that's why my favorite builds include Tremor resistance and earplugs. The monster roar goes from an annoying interruption to a free opportunity to do damage.
So i got a question. If you pause at 5:44 where it says Handicraft level 1 where the 5 squares are, what do the empty squares mean? Is it possible to get higher levels? Like why are there empty squares, if we can't craft higher levels in the first place? Or am i just dumb and missing something completely obvious?
Pro tip: use a nat white weapon with high raw, gem in handicraft on your armor (and the polish if you can) AND use 3+ tiers of attack up. The effects WILL stack. Don't do more than 2 tiers of Handicraft as most weapons won't make any gains. but if you have an armor set that naturally gives polish (like the odogama (I Think)) It will have enough slots to net you that maximum attack buff plus the two handicraft buffs. And then use mega demondrug before sharpening! You are welcome.
Some weapons with the sharpness gauge not full are made with this handicraft skill in mind. ESPECIALLY the arena weapons that you need the arena coins to get. Example, look at the lowermost weapon of longsword weapon tree, it is just fantastic when you slap in the handicraft. Even got a free level 3 jewel slot so you can get lv5 handicraft into it(2 kushala chest, 2 death stench, 1 jewel). Handicraft is a lv3 jewel. Combine this with the sharpness jewel (protective poliah - sharpness will not decrease for a minute after sharpened) and you're good to go.
Sharpness is very strong in terms of phys dmg. This is especially .. "handy" for those hit and run weapons like the greatsword. What bothers me is the misconception here about a percentage increase with fast attacks. A percentage increase in dmg doesn't care about your attack speed. The DPS increase is the same, no matter the attack speed.
I'm thinking handicraft+ weakness exploit+ critical eye + teostra set (crits don't reduce sharpess) would be the best versus going attack up. It depends though your going to be farming a lot of decorations for that sort maxing.
You seriously didn't know that white sharpness was a thing? Wow...lol, I don't think they'll put in purple sharpness though...purples just godly especially with some sets bonuses that would let you keep your sharpness after sharpening your weapon.
The "substantial" increase from blue to white is exactly 10%. Likewise - the difference between green and blue is 10%. The "greatest" boost you would get if you have a weapon that hits good and has a default level of red or orange - and you sharpen that to white. THAT would be substantial.
+Jarl S in MH 10% vase damage is substantial lol. Especially when you stack it with protective polish and affinity. Now If you already have a white sharpness weapon this going to help. But also many of the white sharpness weapons have much lower base damage.
Its only got to work giving you more atack if your weapon doesnt already have white sharpness. If it already has white sharpness then handicraft isnt going to work
"Forage" or to go foraging. Search widely for food or provisions. I think you meant to say "Forge" or "Forging" to make or shape (a metal object) by heating it in a fire or furnace and beating or hammering it.
Monster Hunter noob. I just finished my final diabolos charge blade upgrade and working on nergigante full set for attack boosts. Should i maybe use that handicraft charm and upgrade it?
Oh my poor hunting newbies, I clicked on this thinking it was new info not stuff that's been in Monster Hunter since at Least I've played (Monster Hunter 2) Remember to slot for Handicraft, Charms, and Attack pluses, But please bear in mind things like earplugs will increase your Damage per Second by allowing you to attack during roars,
85 to 93 is an increase by 1.0942, so it is a little less that what the graph says. How much is it if the upgrade were from green to blue in attack numbers? so that we can see
hardly a drastic increase. i have lvl7 affinity, lvl 4 attack boost, lvl 3 weakness exploit, lvl 3 crit dmg, and i can 100% say, ill out dps this method of yours
Handicraft is meaningless if you have protective polish or that Xeno set with white sharpness, personally I love using ls but i think i do better with the Odogaron set and the db sin
Knight Of The Fallen That isn't mispronunciation that was two different words, I will always be critical of our entertainer's literacy because a lacking vocabulary teaches our kids to think a lazy education level is acceptable. Sorry but not sorry.
the damage increase isn't really that much its wasted slots for something else way to circumstantial plus your also giving up a lot of damage for a small amount of time seems wasted
You know the early armours in the game? Is it possible to get them to a high defense level like the late-late armour? I'm nowhere near of beating the game, so I'm asking ahead.
It doesn't seem worth it. +15 or something to your damage? Why not just use gear that increases your affinity ''ofc also WE 3'' to do straight up 50% or more damage? Handicraft seems pretty good but it's just not worth using over stuff that gives you affinity and/or Xeno'jiiva set to just keep that blue bar for basically forever. If the damage increase was A LOT more then it would compete with +50%-70% affinity but atm it doesn't do enough.
Affinity is not the same as additional true damage. If you have 50% of affinity half of your attacks will do 1.25 the amount of damage they do normally, not 2.0
For dual blades odogaron's sin blade already has white sharpness, and Xeno-jiiva dragon blades already have white sharpness. Plus with enough attack ups you get bonus affinity and with weakness exploit combined with a whole bunch of other shit I have it's rarer for me to not get a crit so I'm always doing 80-90 sometimes over 100 damage, and for dual blades whom are supposed to be weaker that's insane. Even Elder Dragons are no match for me
The issue in this game is that the nergigante weapons outclass every other weapon in the game due to their high raw power and large blue sharpness. Most weapons, even with sharpness boosted to white; are still weaker than using a nergigante weapon without any skills. Also, all the weapons that come with natural white sharpness have horrendously low attack values. Basically every other weapon in the game needs to have a set of perfect skills to complement it to barely match a naked nergigante weapon. The only good weapon to use with handicraft is the diablos hammer with handicraft +5 to give it a usable amount of white sharpness with very high raw power with a elementless jewel put into it and a tenderizer set to offset its negative affinity. Even the final boss weapons are useless next to nergigante weapons due to their raw power being terrible. Handicraft may have been the ultimate skill in previous games, but in MHW the lack of good raw power weapons makes it not worth the effort.
Great wyvern jawblade with handicraft and non elemental boost out does any nergigante build. I mean technically just non element boost out does nerg, but jaw blade can also use handi and nerg cant
Get 3 set bonus of xeno, it reducess sharpness loss by 50% and makes the bar/gauge white for a long time ^^ handicraft sucks tbh way better skills to go for...
RestrainedDoughnut no it increases your sharpness to a certain point. Unless the weapon your using already has a maxed out sharpness gauge such as the Nergigante weapons. Some weapons however appear to be unaffected as well or at least minimally so.
yeah tahts all nice and well but what good does this to someone who hasnt unlocked this part yet.. its litterally useless info unless you're up high ranking... what about the lower ranks huh do you expect us to just find someone with the right rank to help us get to the right point where this info applies?
This is only the second Monster Hunter game I've played, and I didn't make it past about 10 hours in Monster Hunter Tri. So yeah, there's a bunch of us noobs who don't know about this yet.
Good material but a video showing that better sharpness means better damage should not be 12 minutes long. Makes this video interesting and just ends up skipping around looking for just the key parts of the actual video
+Iron Man you use the protective polish and it will last most of the fight. And this boost damage significantly more than other ways, especially when stacking affinity
No using HC and atk boost you get more damage when min/maxing. You'll have more than enough slots and you go from there. I run it on LS with max weakness exploit and crit damage boost. Trust you wont make a differemt LS build that does more damage.
Too bad crit boost doesn't actually increase your crit damage like it says. It increases it to 30% and so on, the base crit damage is .25. So it goes to .30.
Daniel Korotchenkov thing is weapons with white sharpness at base have less raw so you're gonna do less damage overall than with what this guy is explaining.
what poilu said, oda weps do have white sharpness innate but they are also lower base damage which makes them barely better then weapons without initial white sharpness and obviously its damage only remains superior as long as it remains in the white sharpness as soon as it drops to blue its damage output is lower then most other weapons that only have blue sharpness initially. Long story short its actually better to take a blue sharpness and stack 2 handicraft to take it to white used in conjunction with protective polish to get a bigger damage boost then you would see from a weapon with white sharpness from the get go.
Yeah but Odegaron weapon is a fire element only tree and doesn't exist in Gunlance trees which is my main weapon of choice. ~ Ppl aren't concerned about getting white sharpness weapons, but get MAX DMG and squish as much as possible using skills and even Sharpness if there is a room for it. Just because a weapon has white or purple sharpness doesn't make it a definitive choice for end game weapon. The base damage might not be that great, or the element might not be wht you are looking for.
Thought that this waas what it did but I read it and it specifically states it will not extend above maximum.... Kinda hard to get behind the game and learning it when it is literally fucking lying to you on items.
yeah, It doesnt do a good job of explaining that it does. there are some weapons that have the gauge completely full, but those that dont can get a nice boost in damage
Yeah you can get some weapons with white sharpness, they usually also have a lower base damage. this will significantly increase the damage of other weapons with higher base damage that do not have white sharpness
I like games I can give good reasons why, one reason it wasn't as popular as it is now, MHW has been released to a FAR larger audience now that it's released in all platforms, pc comes later.
We Are Venom and that doesn't even count the fact that monster hunter world is much more accessible than prior titles, which pulls in an even bigger audience.
To many hidden mechincs nit explained in the game correctly is annouying. Like crit damage bot increasing crit damage I mean come on ffs and how Neg claws are not effected by handi craft! Tho i know of no indication of this. Gets a bit tiring to be honest so my 2 handicraft is pointless as I thought it wasent having an effect.
I like how you show the actual hits but....I feel like you could save people's time and say that the video is primarily about handicraft from the very start.
What is it with people making these crappy clickbait videos about how to get ridiculous X for this game? EVERY weapon type is viable and so are nearly all playstyles just pick one, practice it and when you feel ready jump into multiplayer. To any non-veteran hunters this is my advice to you, these clickbait crap videos will do little to help you improve when compared to practicing your own hunting style.
Let me save you 20 minutes - use the handicraft skill.
You deserve 66k subscribers.
on top of that its an endgame skill in world. if you get it at any point past late endgame its actually a dps loss for 90% of builds compared to more common builds
You tha real mvp
Thx! You're the best~
Ok ez, bye bye
It should be noted that increased sharpness also increase the KO stat as well, making knockdowns more frequent.
Pro tip: don't stack attack boost with handi, stack critical eye and a weapon with positive Affinity. You're welcome.
A similar skill is Bludgeoner, from the HR Diablos armor set. Thanks for the List! Pinning This :D
No problem, just thought I'd share what I found with the rest.
but could you reach blue tier with Zorah weapons?
Yes, all weapons can reach blue sharpness with handicraft from what I recall.
whats the best chargeblade to use for damage and such and handicraft?
Purple sharpness is usually relegated to G-rank weapons with sharpness+
This is not a trick this is click bait
Clickbaiting newer players. How common.
This isn't a clickbait, what do you mean xD
The damage increase is there. And it *is* drastic over long fights.
When you said "beyond blue" it reminded me of dragon ball super lol
Did you just spend 12 minutes to say get handicraft?
going from blue to white sharpness gives you a boost of 10% raw and like 6% elemental damage that stacks with other damage boosting skills. Take that info as you wish.

3:32 Hehe gawg then gauge in the same breath.
gouge*
That comment killed me. I had to stop watching.

Jay Bloodworth I'd rather stack up earplugs and Tremor resistance, givin house some monsters love to Roar, and others Stomp like the band.

Exactly! I have a Build Coming out in 20min using Handicraft, Crit and Protective Polish. It is amazing.
Wearing the xeno'jiiva armor set gives you weapon sharpness also

Check the xeno glaive. That has white sharpness and the protective polish I believe.
*SCIENTISTS HATE HIM BECAUSE OF THIS ONE SIMPLE TRICK*
Which DB have you found to be your go to?
Usually Fire and Ice Or Decimation Claws against Certain Elders
Augmented max kadachi claws are good against nergi for thunder dmg
"Forage" or to go foraging.
Search widely for food or provisions. I think you meant to say "Forge" or "Forging" to make or shape (a metal object) by heating it in a fire or furnace and beating or hammering it.
This video was significantly significant!
Monster Hunter noob. I just finished my final diabolos charge blade upgrade and working on nergigante full set for attack boosts. Should i maybe use that handicraft charm and upgrade it?
Hi I'm new to MH my hit damage is only doing 5 damage I have the fuel blades how can I do more damage per hit?
Don't forget to get armor charm/talon and power charm/talon and to always carry them
Oh my poor hunting newbies, I clicked on this thinking it was new info not stuff that's been in Monster Hunter since at Least I've played (Monster Hunter 2)
Remember to slot for Handicraft, Charms, and Attack pluses,

My hammer's so sharp it can cut anything
Dang dude
I should really switch to hammer then
My long sword can barely cut butter
Vegeta went "beyond blue" Mhw foreshadowing ultra instinct vegeta "white" with even sharper hair
Isaiahtjee this is to get even sharper beyond
dbZ is bad
but dbs is great!
hey guys did you also know you can boost you damage by using consumables? the more you know
hardly a drastic increase. i have lvl7 affinity, lvl 4 attack boost, lvl 3 weakness exploit, lvl 3 crit dmg, and i can 100% say, ill out dps this method of yours
Forgot to say, I also have lvl2 agitator so again, my dps is through the roof. Especially on ig or ds
Good for you
just add 2 points of handicraft and you're golden
Handicraft is meaningless if you have protective polish or that Xeno set with white sharpness, personally I love using ls but i think i do better with the Odogaron set and the db sin
msquared016 how do you have all that
I have always had my weapons on white sharpness without doing anything
My weapon sharpness won’t go to white and i have handicraft +2 wtf am i doing wrong???? Please help
Depends on the weapon. May need tier 3 or 4 for lower rarity weapons
TagBackTV ok thnkz I figured it out
Giving up a lot of damage for a 12% increase that doesn't last long
have you tried it on weapons with built in White sharpness. to see if it reaches even the purple sharpness
If you have 3 pieces of Xeno'Jiiva armor your sharpness loss will be cut in half.
Capcom is probably going to allow weapons to have purple sharpness when they release G-Rank.
Some weapons have white on their bar by default
Tell me that sharpness gouge line was you joking dude...guage not gouge
anthony ortiz many people pernounce it like that, don't complain.
Knight Of The Fallen That isn't mispronunciation that was two different words, I will always be critical of our entertainer's literacy because a lacking vocabulary teaches our kids to think a lazy education level is acceptable. Sorry but not sorry.
the damage increase isn't really that much its wasted slots for something else way to
circumstantial plus your also giving up a lot of damage for a small amount of time seems wasted
kinda like what goku just did he went beyond blue to white
Xeno sword and shield get white sharpness and it is such a great weapon
I hope they include purple sharpness. Loved it in freedom unite with the nargacuga long sword.
Checked out a xeno jiiva weapon with maxed out handicraft: no purple.
Nothing HR will have purple, we have to wait for G-Rank to get purple.
Wouldn’t it therefore be best to instead of stacking Attack to stack crit eye instead?
+Thunder Catz exactly! I have a build coming out later today
I can't seem to even hit the monsters always knocking me down gotta use bow cuz I suck
Dallas Williams You're an idiot.
The bow and even LBG do make the game fairly easy compared to melee overall.
You know the early armours in the game? Is it possible to get them to a high defense level like the late-late armour? I'm nowhere near of beating the game, so I'm asking ahead.
Lumify | Gil just upgrade them with armor spheres! It won't be super high but it's way better than the base defense
Lumify | Gil idk but I suggest not trying to dump armour spheres into low rank armour. Save them for your high rank armour.
You're gonna Wana use the high rank spheres imstead of wasting the low rank spheres
Well use low rank spheres on low rank armor using it on high isn't gonna give you alot
Or you could just add me on psn and we Can hunt together ^_^ ICupheheh Icon is bone dude
It doesn't seem worth it. +15 or something to your damage? Why not just use gear that increases your affinity ''ofc also WE 3'' to do straight up 50% or more damage? the white sharpness comes from the xeno upgrade
I got it from more than that. Forgot what of course...
Great tip on the damge weapon
Hope you guys Enjoyed the Video! Check out My Monster Hunter Tips playlist! th-cam.com/video/yt43MBSYhuU/w-d-xo.html
"Weapon Sharpness Gouge" oof
Update this to Late Game Iceborne pls.
He said "blue one point two zero" you don't say the zero if it's at the end
Title says Monster Honter, is that the sequal?
Pysarix Comment says ”sequal”, is that the sequel to ”sequel”?
It's not hard to just build a weapon with white sharpness. How you didn't know it existed is beyond me.
Aihana Etsu divine slasher is disagreeing with you
Also if brazenridge 2 can get white with the jewel slots and all its better than extermination's edge
Probably quite a few others as well
No, Leviathans Fury is way better than the equivalent Nerg weapon with or without boosted skills.
Great wyvern jawblade with handicraft and non elemental boost out does any nergigante build. I mean technically just non element boost out does nerg, but jaw blade can also use handi and nerg cant
Ice and fire blades???
Woahhhhhhhhhh beyond blue sharpness no wayyyy
Sin, the Odagaron Dual Swords has white sharpness
Get 3 set bonus of xeno, it reducess sharpness loss by 50% and makes the bar/gauge white for a long time ^^ handicraft sucks tbh way better skills to go for...
Very useful tip and white sharp was in monster Hunter freedom untie
No, it was in Monster Hunter Freedom Untiefighter
it is also in monster hunter 4 ultimate
Didn't the Yian-Garuga weps have purple sharpness?
No purple for Yian Garuga, at least not in MHFU.
They keeping the pink sharpness for G-Rank weapons.
I thought handicraft could not knock you up a sharpness?
RestrainedDoughnut no it increases your sharpness to a certain point. Unless the weapon your using already has a maxed out sharpness gauge such as the Nergigante weapons. Some weapons however appear to be unaffected as well or at least minimally so.
yeah tahts all nice and well but what good does this to someone who hasnt unlocked this part yet.. its litterally useless info unless you're up high ranking... what about the lower ranks huh do you expect us to just find someone with the right rank to help us get to the right point where this info applies?
Scott Aukerman?
Thank you just started with the longsword
clickbait much?
I use the defending hammer it has white
Hmmm, this must be for newer players who don't know or this is their first MH experience.
Yeah no shit lol dumbass 😂
This is only the second Monster Hunter game I've played, and I didn't make it past about 10 hours in Monster Hunter Tri.
So yeah, there's a bunch of us noobs who don't know about this yet.
Good material but a video showing that better sharpness means better damage should not be 12 minutes long. Makes this video interesting and just ends up skipping around looking for just the key parts of the actual video
Yeah, but you lose your sharpness in 10 hits lol what's the point? There are much better skills that do more damage overall to build towards.
+Iron Man you use the protective polish and it will last most of the fight. And this boost damage significantly more than other ways, especially when stacking affinity
not worth the jewel slots tbh
Depends on which weapon you're using. DB and LS for example gets a lot out of Handicraft + Protective Polish.
Ill be sad if jho weapons dont come with purple sharpness
None do, you can't get purple until we get G-rank weapons.
All of the final biss weappns, odrogon weapons amd hornuter weapons have baseline white sharpness
video for MH first timer
guys, just use odogaron weapons , a lot of white sharpness
Daniel Korotchenkov thing is weapons with white sharpness at base have less raw so you're gonna do less damage overall than with what this guy is explaining.
Have nice crit too
what poilu said, oda weps do have white sharpness innate but they are also lower base damage which makes them barely better then weapons without initial white sharpness and obviously its damage only remains superior as long as it remains in the white sharpness as soon as it drops to blue its damage output is lower then most other weapons that only have blue sharpness initially.
Long story short its actually better to take a blue sharpness and stack 2 handicraft to take it to white used in conjunction with protective polish to get a bigger damage boost then you would see from a weapon with white sharpness from the get go.
Daniel Korotchenkov But rathalos charge blade looks too cool
Yeah but Odegaron weapon is a fire element only tree and doesn't exist in Gunlance trees which is my main weapon of choice. ~
Ppl aren't concerned about getting white sharpness weapons, but get MAX DMG and squish as much as possible using skills and even Sharpness if there is a room for it.
Ah, that would explain why i lost my mind for 2 days trying ti figure out why my handicraft talisman was randomly working....
It's not lying to you, for example, Handi doesn't work on say the Nerg IG.
What chest piece is that😍
I have a hammer that has a white sharpness tear 8 weapon
Yeah you can get some weapons with white sharpness, they usually also have a lower base damage. this will significantly increase the damage of other weapons with higher base damage that do not have white sharpness
why do all of the people in this comment section not have played monster hunter before
I like games I can give good reasons why, one reason it wasn't as popular as it is now, MHW has been released to a FAR larger audience now that it's released in all platforms, pc comes later.
Gets a bit tiring to be honest so my 2 handicraft is pointless as I thought it wasent having an effect.
you can only put handicraft on weapons with room left on the sharpness gauge.
TagBackTV How can you tell if they have room a blank area?
The Xeon great sword has white sharpness
Krige's brother ALL xeno weapons have white sharpness...
Brandon Banks true I forgot that because all I us is great sword
Thats how the Game works and not a Trick.
A level even further beyond!!!!
When tag gets 81 views but doesn't get 81 likes... Sad days.. Great vid tag ❤❤
I like how you show the actual hits but....I feel like you could save people's time and say that the video is primarily about handicraft from the very start.
A lot of people don't know what handicraft is or what it does.
The Xeno Cypher long sword has purple sharpness.
PConTV it sure the fuck doesnt ad i own the weapon its fucking nothing more then a smidge of white
Naturally it doesnt, but with Xeno Jiva Divinity, you keep your sharpness considerably longer
That doesn't give it purple
What is it with people making these crappy clickbait videos about how to get ridiculous X for this game? EVERY weapon type is viable and so are nearly all playstyles just pick one, practice it and when you feel ready jump into multiplayer. To any non-veteran hunters this is my advice to you, these clickbait crap videos will do little to help you improve when compared to practicing your own hunting style.
Meh. Not too big of a difference in damage. Not worth changing my xeno armor..
Ultra instinct sharpness??
Exactly! haha
