I have watched the majority of the "first reaction" videos of this song. I may not have understood what she was saying, but not understanding what she was saying I focused more on her reaction. This is, by far, the best reaction video.

Einer der größten Cover Versionen aller Zeiten.
Ich bin ihnen sehr dankbar für Ihre Analyse und Reaktion auf dieses wunderbare Cover des Liedes von Simon and Garfunkel. Disturbed mit seinem Sänger David Draiman hat die Botschaft dieses Liedes so gut umgesetzt, das selbst Simon ihn angeschrieben und gesagt hat - es ist die beste Coverversion ihres Liedes und er liebt es. Er bringt die Botschaft des Liedes derart gut, das ich dieses Lied auf meine "Ich-liebe-es-Liste" so ziemlich an erste Stelle gesetzt habe. David ist ein ganz toller Sänger und ja, diese Band macht auch leise Lieder.

This is one of the best reactions in any language. I've been watching various videos of this an I came across a father - daughter who just sat there stone-faced. I found myself looking for any sign they were moved or that they "got it." I ended up totally freaked and yelling at the screen (lol) I wanted to shake 'em because I couldn't imagine not reacting to this epic voice/video/song. I thought maybe they are waiting and will gush when it's over... Hell even their banter/analysis was blah. (SMH they had no souls.) Oh - die erste deutschsprachige Kritik, die ich lese. Ich habe den Song gefühlt nun schon ein- bis zweitausendmal gehört und er beeindruckt mich immer wieder. In der ursprünglichen Version von Simon & Garfunkel war er schön anzuhören, so melodisch. Und aus dem Text habe ich in erster Linie die Anklage der Sprachlosigkeit herausgehört. Bei der Disturbed-Version habe ich das Gefühl als ob Gott uns Menschen persönlich eine reinhaut, weil wir immernoch so blöd sind, wie vor zig tausend Jahren und nix dazugelernt haben.
Ich schaue mir seit ca. 2 Wochen "alle" Reaction-Videos von Disturbed - Sound of Silence an und habe bis heute keinen gefunden der eine deutschsprachige Kritik gemacht hatte. Jetzt habe ich endlich jemanden gefunden. Wunderbare Reaktion, schön beschrieben. Vielen Dank dafür 🙂.Habe dieses Lied (Offical Video + Live bei Conan) dadurch auch mindestens 100mal gehört und bekomme immer wieder einen Schauer. Einfach schön. Muss auch dazu sagen das ich alle Alben von Disturbed habe da ich ein Heavy Metal Fan bin (54J alt ;-). Ich finde das man die Talente die so mach ein Interpret hat, außer sein "Main-Event" mehr würdigen sollte. Wie ich nach ein paar "Standard-Songs" von Disturbed die Cover-Version von Sound of Silence gehört hatte ist mir buchstäblich die Kinnlade herunter gefallen 🙂 ... Abgesehen von der Bedeutung des Textes was ich erst beim 2ten und 3ten mal erst verstanden hatte ... bin schlecht in englisch 😞... ist mir hier erstmal bewusst geworden welch ein Talent er hat. Ich sage das er jedes Genre singen könnte. Vielen Dank ... Grüße ... Andy

This is my favorite rendition of this song. His interpretation truly brings out the true meaning of the lyrics. Simon and Garfunkel sang to alarm us, Disturbed sings to give us a final warning. You should watch the live version on Conan when you get a chance. (Eine der Besten Reaktionen and Kommentaturen die ich soweit gehoert have. Danke! Du solltest dir auch mal die live Version anhoeren. First of all loved your reaction. Couldn't agree more with your points. Many musicians in metal have their roots in some kind of classic music. David got his initial training as a cantor, before he ventured into metal.

Ich finde diese Interpretation um einiges besser als das Original. Auch meine Zustimmung zum psychologischen Aspekt des Videos. Man kann es mit gutem Gewissen Manipulativ nennen, aber dies macht die künstlerische Leistung nicht schlechter sondern besser. Gute Reaktion!
Ich würde mich über eine Reaktion über Hansi Kürsch freuen. Auch er ist ein Metalsänger und kommt aus Deutschland. Ein gutes Beispiel wäre die Interpretation "Wheel Of Time" mit seiner Band "Blind Guardian".
Auch andere deutsche Bands haben gute Sänger und Sängerinnen. Michael Kiske, Ralf Scherpers und Elli Berlin wären da zu nennen.
I believe I understand this song's meaning and warnings to humanity, in this all consuming age of isolation - how sad is this? We communicate more, however, we speak less to each other,.... we hear more noises, but, actually fail to hear others. Though this song was written in and for my generation, I believe its tenants, fully explain our current disconnect. The song ends, however, in a sense of optimism, in hopes we will recognize and try to correct our paths, from discord to some sense of harmony.
I enjoyed your video and held my breath, 'til the end - until you breathed me back to reality.

Tolles Reaktionsvideo und Analyse. Das Video zur Studioversion des Songs war schon künstlerisch fantastisch gemacht, aber die Liveversion, damals bei Conan O'Brien, gefällt mir etwas besser. Das hervorragende Orchester hat David unglaublich gut ergänzt und verstärkt. Er war dabei sogar krank und hatte Fieber.

Hast du vllt Lust auf Floor Jansen & Henk Poort - Phantom of the Opera (Beste Zangers 2019) zu reacten? :) Floor ist die aktuelle Sängerin von Nightwish (eine wahnsinnig gute Symphonic-Metal Band) und Henk war das "Phantom" in der dänischen Version von Phantom of the Opera. :) Lg aus dem Norden in den Norden und bleib gesund!

Notice at the very end of the video the musicians are on a boat crossing the river to the people on shore with sheet music. They need each other to end the silence with music. Music is the universal language as BTS is proving right now by writing and singing in Korean to a world wide audience. Opera goes have known this for centuries. You don't need to know the language to appreciate the sound of any music.

Ich habe Ihre Analyse geschätzt. Ich werde dies auf Englisch beenden, weil es für mich einfacher ist, mich auszudrücken. I did have a problem with the flow of your presentation. You did your listeners a disservice by stopping at each transition and talking without rewinding a bit so that they could hear and feel the transition. The transitions that are such an integral part of the song's development were completely lost. It was obvious it wasn't the first time you've listened to this version because of your anticipatory sub-reactions. While I understand that for copyright reasons you can't play the entire piece uninterrupted, with a song like this that transitions up so often in a short duration, after you speak, you need to rewind a bit after talking so that your listeners can hear the transition. Just some food for thought. Keep up the good work. I appreciated your analysis and will be stopping in for more. Thanks. :-)

Ich mochte dein Video sehr. David ist ein faszinierender Sänger mit einer unglaublichen Stimme und einer guten Ausbildung (er sollte wohl mal Cantor werden).
Leider werden Rock-und Heavy Metall Sänger häufig unterschätzt.
Kennst du Ronnie Radke von Falling In Reverse? Ich habe die Band erst vor kurzem entdeckt und bin total begeistert von der Vielseitigkeit des Sängers. Growling, Screaming, Rapping, Singing... er macht alles. Und nun dieses Jahr auch noch eine neue Version eines Liedes von ihrem ersten Album vor 9 Jahren. Aus " The Drug in me is you" wurde "The Drug in me is reimagined". Sehr berührend! Falls du die Band nicht kennst, könntest du dir vielleicht privat "Losing my Life" oder "Popular Monster" und die original Version des Lides anhören und dann ein Video zu "The Drug in me is reimagined". Oder beide Versionen zum Vergleich in einem Video? Dann trotzdem einen der anderen Songs privat, damit du zumindest eine Idee hast,was die Band sonst so u.a. macht (sie gaben wirklich extrem unterschiedliche Lieder).

If you just listened to the entire song first, you'd experience the power of his interpretation of that song. When you keep stopping it, as appreciative of it as you are, you take away, entirely from its "magic" for you AND US. So, my humble advice? Listen first. Then talk. Heck rewind it and play it again, if you need to, stopping as many times as you'd like.
