You got lucky there Jeff! That could have decapitated a few plants. 😮
I put 3-4 coats of marine varnish at the bottom of my planks. Once it's thoroughly dry it won't leach into the soil and it certainly protects the wood!
I also put a hook at the top of the back of the plank and one on the adjacent wall then use a string to connect them. It provides some stability but mainly it's to keep it from toppling over should something happen (rotten wood or overenthusiastic cat/running into it).
What about redwood instead
Your great experiences and savvy explanations really help me and inspire me. Thank you!
I'm so glad and thanks for watching
Hi Jeff and thanks for this. The dowel in the moss pole is a great idea! That plant is looking spectacular.
Ya, the splendid is such a great plant
I’m just starting to build a house plant garden again. I’m learning plant care again. You’re helping renew my confidence. 🎉🎉🎉
You can do it!
@@EverythingPlants Thanks for the affirmation!
Love to see how you used a wood plank and added a moss pole to the top. Great idea
I haven’t tried it yet, but gorilla brand makes a 4 inch wide waterproof tape. I’ll be trying it on my planks soon. Also I use cedar wood fence post ( sliced in half the long way) because “they” say it more resistanced to water.
Oh that's interesting....thanks for sharing
Jeff battles the wood...and wins!!! 😊
I'm sure trying haha
Cause you need some more of the same plant. Lol
I really don't hahaha 🤣
I would have used the larger pot for stability. I just don't fill up the pot. When it needs an up pot I lift the plant up, add some soil under the roots giving them a little more to root downward.this way I can continue using the same pot until you reach the top.
You definitely have me thinking about what to use to coat the bottom of a plant stake. I worry about leaching chemicals. I know there are safe things to use like with the treleaf. I bought several of those. Curious if you know what they use?
That is an interesting technique of just lifting up the plant as it needs it. Thanks for sharing.
You could message the company and ask what they use....I'm not entirely sure. Honestly I wouldn't be too worried about it. I used flex seal for a terrarium haha
@@EverythingPlants okay I'll look that up! That's a great idea! Thank you! I'm still loving All Of your content Jeff!!! Thank you! I know it's a lot of work. I really appreciate all you do!
I’m using flex seal too, and so far so good. I wasn’t really worried about it leaching chemicals into the soil unless I thought it was affecting growth. I would worry about it much more if I were growing food, not a decorative plant.
They say cedar lasts longer but the cedar planks I used for my outdoor raised beds have rotted and it’s only been a few years so imo not worth the extra cost. Thanks for sharing I really appreciate all your videos. The plant room is filling up fast with giant leaves. Have a great weekend
Could you just wrap the bottom of the plank in a plastic bag before potting it up?
You could definitely try but it would be pretty tough to not get a hold on the bag I think
@@EverythingPlantsA ziplock type bag may work! (In the US we call sandwich closable bags ziplocks). Stronger material and all, especially the ones made for the freezer. Maybe tape it on the wood first just until it gets potted so it stays in place? I think I'll give it a try. :)
Thanks for the video. I love that idea of the wood dowel in the pole to help it grow straight. I have issues with mine wanting to wander off center too. I’m in love with your philodendron splendid. I’ve just got to get one.
Ya, that wood dowel worked out so well.
Hi Jeff, do you ever run into the problem where the soil in the pot is still moist but the moss pole is dry. I always worry about watering the moss pole in case some of the water goes down into the pot making the soil too wet. Thanks.
Use bottle to drip water into mosspole. You eventually find a sweetspot how much water is needed before it reach the soil. Sry my english lol
Happy Saturday 🎉🎉🎉, waiting for some mail order plants. Catching up on your TH-cam channel. Hope you have a great day.
Hi Jeff. I love your all plants. I even started getting cactuses thanks to you,but at the end of video, when you cut those beautiful leaves of Pothos my heart just screamed 😂
That's awesome to hear. Those pothos leaves will not fit in the prop boxes haha
Thankfully, nothing was hurt in the fall. Perfect pole extension 🤩😍. For the life of me, I cannot find a Hawaiian Pothos in my area. I have been looking for years.😞. Great video 🥰
Good vid. Thanks for sharing Jeff!
Thanks for watching!
Hi Jeff, do you think this plant ( golden pothos )will give you smaller leaves? Just curious. Also, glad the wood plank that fell , didn't damage anything. Have a great day.
Smaller leaves because it tipped over? No, because it never detached from the plank or moss pole....those roots are in there good!
@@EverythingPlantsoh I see Jeff. Please keep us updated on the progress. Of the plant. Btw , lovely plants 🌵😀. Take care and have a great day 😊.
I am thinking of covering the lower part (the part in soil) with nylon wrap
It will make the moisture away from the wood itself
Ah the little piece of wood in the plank to correct the side lean was brilliant! You always have such clever "engineering" ideas!
Wow. Beautiful plants!
So nice of you
Hi Jeff Great video as always. The Hawaiian is lovely, but oh, that Splendid! . My starter didn’t do well, but seeing yours makes me want to try again
Sorry to hear about yours.....and yes, you definitely need to try again!
Ah, the validation to embark on the plant search! I wonder what I might find today? Thank you, Jeff, and your plant room is wonderful.
Where do you get your Pure 1 from? Time for tall garden stakes for those cleaners eh?
What about using redwood instead
Wow Lovely Plants ~
Thank you for good sharing 😊 LIKE 35
My friend, have a good relationship 😊
Thanks for visiting
Good one! Looking forward to updates! 🌱
More to come!
love all your videos , so thanks !!
Thanks so much!!!
Good morning Jeff and a happy Saturday 😊
Thanks Lisa and same to you!
Your videos inspired me on a pothos cutting. I don’t have it on a pole yet, but I am growing it up the corner of a cabinet, and I love seeing each leaf grow larger than the previous leaves. I need to get it on a moss pole and try to accomplish that beautiful growth that you have achieved. Thank you for the inspiration!
Hey that's awesome. Keep me posted with how your plant does
Not watering the soil allows the end of the stem to callous over.
Yup
You were so lucky the rotted plank didn’t do any damage 🪴😀🇨🇦
Yep, got lucky there
Certainly an unfortunate event, but not one that would end your channel. Jeff, come on🙁 Even if the accident took out other plants, you would focus on steps to address any damage, evaluate whether a plant is salvagable, mend plants, check pros/cons of progress, and take away lessons learned. Plus, you have plenty of other plants that you could spot light🪴
Haha....it was a joke. I came up with the title and it sounded really funny. The channel will live on and all the plants are doing fantastic. So much for watching!
@EverythingPlants 😅You scared me initially. Good thing the ole ticker is holding up. You know that your fans would tune in and rally around you no matter what🌿🌻
