Uchida ‘Century’ 48” Industrial Ceiling Fan

- Yep, I bought myself a newer iteration Uchida 'Century' industrial, a fan that I honestly don't really like because of how the blades look. I'm still actively looking for the previous, or maybe first iteration of the 48", & 56" Uchida//Alaska//Maspion 'Century' industrial, specifically the ones with the triangular logo on the center medallion, but I bought this one because...
I'm going to be using it in another customization project!
I have a 90's curved tip blade ceiling fan waiting in line for restoration, and it's going to be a hard one. I wanted to change its color, and because I want to see how the color will turn out on a ceiling fan, I decided to first try painting a fan that I don't really care about, and that's what this Uchida 'Century' is for!
And because spraying a new paint color to a fan and calling it done won't be fun to me, I will be adding some new touches to the motor, & fan blade, which will hopefully make it look more eye-pleasing than the original form of the fan.
As for the story of how I got my hands on this fan, no I'm not stupid enough to buy this fan brand new for about 40 USD to just use it in a single experiment then sell it or install it somewhere. I bought this fan slightly used at a ridiculously cheap price. It's the only cheap medium quality ceiling fan I can find at the time of purchase, and I'm quite happy that I got this one, instead of the 'Millenium' model, or other brand of fans. You'll see the reason why once this project is finished.

I love the blade design. It reminds me a little bit of the design on the blades some Canarm had in the 1980's except on a contoured blade rather than curved tipped. Low speed seems very fast with this controller. What is the difference between this and the model MCF48-100. This one says CF-240.
It does have a bit of that TAT style blade vibe to it! The low speed with that Krisbow control is actually not that far off from the low on the original control. As far as I know, this fan started life as an Alaska model AM CF 240 in the late 90’s, it had plain contoured blades without the ‘M’ stamping. This model then got Alaskair then Maspion badging. I own the 48” Alaskair version, which will be posted soon. Then the manufacturer made these cheaper by reducing metal thickness on the blades & arm, which is why the ‘M’ stamping is there, to add rigidity to the blades, that happened around 2012 or so. I believe mine is the first iteration of the new ‘M’ blades. They started coloring the center badge white in 2020 I think, then sometime last year, they changed the Uchida badge to its parent company’s, which is Maspion. That’s also when the CF-240 model switched to MCF48-100.

Salah satu ceiling fan brand lokal terbaik menurutku, baik yg seri Century ini ataupun yg seri Millenium. Tapi semenjak Uchida merubah desain baling²nya menjadi lebih tipis dan ada kontur "M" nya ini, dan juga menghilangkan pola logo segitiga di bagian emblem tengahnya, kesan mewahnya jadi berkurang (apalagi untuk yg produksi terakhir, emblem tengahnya malah dilabur warna putih/sewarna bodi, bukan emas/chrome seperti yg tahun² sebelumnya). Tapi overall, desainnya masih tetap bisa dibilang mewah, untuk ukuran kipas ceiling zaman sekarang.
Jikalau tidak ada merk kompetitor yang mengambil supplier dari China, dan menjual dengan harga yg sangat murah, kemungkinan kipas² Uchida tidak akan semurah ini kualitasnya sekarang. Meskipun begitu, jikalau dibandingkan dengan merk seperti Sekai, Uchida sudah pasti di posisi market atasnya dari sisi build quality, keawetan, desain, & customer service. Sekarang Uchida perlahan mau di phase out, yang berarti kipas² yg sebelumnya bermerk Uchida akan diganti dengan merk Maspion, termasuk Century ini. Logo barunya dibanding jaman masih logo segitiga sudah sangat jauh lebih modern, tapi aura retro nya sudah pudar total

Kenapa ya kipas industrial/decorative merk alaska lebih bagus kualitasnya daripada keluaran uchida, karena yg sering saya lihat kipas decorative uchida baling² nya sering melengkung kebawah, sedangkan alaska baling²nya jarang melengkung
Kemungkinan karena periode produksi. Alaska itu pendahulu nya Uchida, dan kalau mengambil contoh dari kebanyakan produsen elektronik, semakin jalannya tahun, semakin menurunnya kualitas. Kemungkinan inilah kenapa Uchida lebih rentan melengkung baling nya ketimbang Alaska.

Jadi kalau mau beli kipas decorative lagi yang kualitasnya lebih baik merk apa ya?
Kalau mau kualitas diatas Uchida, ambil yg ditawarkan Ace Hardware. Entah merk Hunter atau Westinghouse.
