CKE 62” Industrial Ceiling Fan

  • Here’s a bit of an oddity, a Chinese made, Pakistani design, ultra heavy 62” industrial ceiling fan sold under the CKE brand.
It’s model CF-FC3005-Y-QJ. QJ being an abbreviation for the OEM of this fan, which is Qijun. Arguably one of the biggest Chinese ceiling fan suppliers. These fans are also sold under the O.R.L brand in Africa, model MEGA 62. I’d been curious about the performance & built quality of this fan for years, so I finally bought one to test it out. I’m rather surprised to say the least!
For one, the blades are made of thick gage steel, and each of them weigh a literal metric ton, so as the motor. Making me a bit uneasy as to whether my dining room ceiling can support all that weight or not. The blades have a bit of a Gossammer pitch design to it, and the motor itself is surprisingly fast
Performance is alright, it’s on par with 90’s National ceiling fan for what I can feel. The only things restricting it from its full potential is the rather short downrod & 3 speed control that’s super hard to turn. Ceiling fans need more & more space above the blades the larger the diameter of the fan is, that is to prevent air cavitation from hampering the fan’s performance. That’s why flushmount fans don’t move as much air as a fan on a decent length downrod, because there’s no space for air to get above the blade & pushed down. The downrod provided with this fan is about as long as the downrod you’d get with a National F-560A1, but because the blade pitch of this fan is rather steep & it spins at a high RPM, this fan has a difficult time grabbing enough air to be thrown downwards.
You can even feel the difference when you switch between speeds. Airflow increase from speed 1-2 is larger than from speed 2-3, even though this fan really picks up in speed on the transition from medium to high. You can also see it swinging a bit on high speed due to the vacuum generated above the fan, something which took me by surprise as this fan is more than twice as heavy as generic GMC style ceiling fans. As for the stiff speed control, I think the factory made it that way to reduce sparking inside the switch. This is a power hungry fan, if it’s hooked up to the controls from the aforementioned generic ceiling fan, it’ll spark & blow its way to death in less than a year after installation. I have yet to test the power draw of this fan, but I won’t be surprised if it gobbles upwards of 120 Watts on high, as my customized 50” CKE also pulls in that amount of power on high, and that’s a much smaller fan with lighter fan blades!
I would think that if given a downrod 10 inches longer, this fan can perform up to its full potential, but I don’t have a long downrod that can fit this fan, so that remains to be seen. Speaking of performance, unsurprisingly this motor is rather overdriven. It gets rather hot after a short 1 hour use on full blast, which make me question how long this fan was really built to last.

i knew that this would be a high performance fan the first time i saw it online!
it'd be nice if they decided to offer a 48" version of this model too..

I was expecting the same, but I'm absolutely surprised to see it actually spin that fast

What if I tell you the motor on this fan is also shared with a 6 blade 80" ceiling fan?

Usually CKE made Chinese-styled (CMC like probably) or Japanese-styled (Matsushita) and now CKE used to ever made fan with Indian looking. 😍😍

I think it's slower, my 320 rpm fan runs faster than this. Probably around 315
