Strange. I did some of these exercises in early stages of recovery without a guidance from any therapist. Understanding the forces, both static and dynamic, helped a lot. Sit and stand helped too.

I love stepping up and down. First I started with holding onto a heavy chair, and now I can step up and down without holding onto anything. Repetition is the key. I do this activity at least 50 times every day , and keep telling myself : " I am building those neuro pathways". Now curbs will not be a challenge anymore. 😀 Thank you so much for this video just as much as for all the other great videos.♥️

Thanks for the new look at proper walking. I think the problem of my ankle flexion inhibits knee flexion and hip stretching, thus creating stiffness in gait. I will try to fix that with the exercises you have shown. I would stand out sitting exercise with a skateboard as great for hip extension and breaking the abnormal synergism of the extensor. Have a nice week

    🌸💜🌸 Dear Dr. Tara,
thank you very much for your super videos, which really shot me back to normal life. Now 3 years post stroke, the left leg is still giving me a funny walk and the left arm/hand is still only half working. It will never be the same as before, but I'm using every possibility for a nice stretch or reach.
But with the help of you and my PT I am not any more constantly feeling handicapped or not able to live a normal life, but I now rather concentrate on my new online business, new friendships and new ways of activity.
So, I am saying goodbye to the constant rehab life and hello to the new super charged life in a different but very fun and proud way.
Thank you for everything Dr. Tara!Stay safe and say hello to Chico, Love, Nina 🌸💜🌸💜🌸💜🌸

After 29 years with MS I have Lymphedema in both legs, worse in the right leg, mostly above the knee. That's the bad leg, its super heavy and won't bend right. Getting in and out of the car is so painful and when driving, using that right leg to stop and accelerate, I feel like screaming because the pain radiates up into my hip and groin areas down to my toes. I'm doing all the exercises I can to correct the situation. My neurologist is not helpful at all.

Can you do a video on a leg which is stiff but will not straighten. It's permanently bent. Thanks

Thanks for watching! I am having trouble visualizing this. Do you mean it is “stuck” in one position? For example it will it bend and it will not straighten ?

I’m recovering from a stroke, 5 months in.
I also have bad knees, what would be better for exercise, a treadmill or elliptical?

Why can't I put pressure on my foot while sitting.. trying to lift my foot towards my shin and it feels like my foot is floating. I'm 8years post

Hi Amanda! Thanks for the question. Many times this is from an abnormal flexor synergy. This is when the leg flexes up involuntarily. This is a good idea for a future video. Stay tuned!

my father is 81+ years. he had a stroke on 18.8.21 and got discharged from hospital on 2.9.21. he started walking with help after 2-3 weeks of stroke. presently he has weakness specially right arm and leg. he cant stand without help mainly because his right toes dont hold any weight and skid as soon as he tries to stand. so i have to press his right foot with my foot and hold his hand when he wants to stand. his second toe right foot is stiff and slightly bent inwards but moves with some help. when he walks sometimes his right foot makes a small curve outwards and the toes always comes very close to the ground when he takes a right step forward. his stamina and strength varies on day to day basis. sometimes he can walk (never without support) for 10 min and some times he gets tired after 20 steps. whenever he is tired he tends to bend backwards slightly and he is almost always tilted slightly left or right side. kindly help. i am confused and scared. thanks
