    So excited for this new era of reels! When they bring it to the US Vin Diesel should market this as the “cast and furious” and hedgehog studios should offer a after market whale tail spoiler. The next reel in the series should be the JDM Zillion HD the (solid black one) with a red light going back and forth like Night Rider. $3700 might be out of the poor’s price range but that’s not us.

    This type of technology has already been used in some PCP airguns. Daystate has had it out for a few years now. Electronic triggers, computer controlled valving. Even a built-in chronograph. I have one, and it's a tack driver. I never had an issue with the computer getting hot, either. And I live in Louisiana. I'm glad to see it getting into fishing.

    @JonJonsOutdoors ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Interesting concept and has potential to make an impact over the long term. The thing I love is we often see the high end tech passed down through a medium cost line up. $1,500 is out of many’s price point but I hope like the DC we see some $300-$180 models passed down. I am great paying $350 down for reel but above that it just gets out of reach for us norms.I tried Dc n just didn’t like it and to be honest I love Shimano spinning but not their casting reels. I use exclusively Daiwa casting reels.

    • @thehookuptackle_usa
      @thehookuptackle_usa  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Pretty much all tech from Shimano/Daiwa eventually makes it way down through the lower priced reels, so if this proves to be a worthy concept I would assume we'd see the trend continue.

      They say 700 casts is the 90 min. So if you make less than 700 casts - you should be fine on a full charge. But, it's going to take some getting used to to remember to charge it after fishing, and does it need to be topped off if it sits for a while? Lot of questions still.

    I was all for this reel. I was gonna slap one on my Evoluzion White Python for stuff up to 3oz but I was disappointed immediately because from what I understand the app to get the most out of the reel is not available in the USDM. It’s JDM exclusive. You could pay the premium to import it and I’m sure a lot of us are interested in it but unfortunately it doesn’t even look like we’ll get all the features if we do? So that’s a bummer. 1500 dollars for a reel you can’t even fully access. I really hope that’s not the case.

Who knows, maybe they were a little more, but I know for a fact I didn't pay $150 per reel, over what the going prices were.

    I dont want to have to charge my reel and i certainly dont want to have to take my phone out to adjust my reel settings. I wouldnt buy this reel even if it were 150 bucks. With the new antares dc md coming in at around $800 it seems like this new daiwa is a huge waste of money. Besides once you get the antares dc md dialed in, it will probably perform just as good and without all the gimmicks.

    I love how dudes are complaining abt it like "YoU'Re StUpId iF yOu NeEd a CoMpUtEr ChiP tO FisH" while they pull up to the dock with their 100 thousand dollar bass boats with like 6 screens and have their boat automatically launch out, wait while they park, and come to them with ipilot, and then have it follow a preset route in a certain depth while they watch their screens on livescope, looking for fish so they can throw and watch the fish literally swim up and bite their lure so they can set the hook at the perfect time. God forbid u have a computer chip in ur reel tho. Lol

    Daiwas just don’t seem to do good at casting variety. Just good at one or 2 baits per reel. I sense this will be the same but now with Bluetooth. Good chance the casting algorithms are gonna use the same logic that makes their other reels hard to cast for a wide range of baits. And yep, it’s gonna be high tech with Meh performance.

    • @thehookuptackle_usa
      @thehookuptackle_usa  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Not sure what Daiwa's you've been using, but I would disagree with everything above from my personal experience. This particular reel will likely only be good at heavier baits since it's a swimbait reel.

    • @Fishing_with_Fincher
      @Fishing_with_Fincher ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Once the cast control is properly set and the magnetic brakes are utilized as they are intended, there isn’t a better brand of reel on the market. The reason I choose Daiwa over Shimano is the exact opposite from your experience with them. The SV spools do a great job with everything from finesse baits all the way up to big, deep diving plugs.

    • @seangoff9578
      @seangoff9578 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Fishing_with_Fincher I mostly fish shallow swampy areas and cast weedless paddle tails and frogs. I’ve never been able to get good distance on these baits even with the highly priced Zillion SV TW. I’d be happy to meet you any day and compare your casting results to mine. I’m also speaking from experience. I’m comparing the zillion Sv Tw and Tatula SV performance to Metaniuma and Chronarch MGL and Lews TLL and abu REVo sx. all of which give me more distance on weedless paddle tails. Again. Ppl love talking. About adjusting brakes correctly and I find many of them are not capable of even casting near to the distances I reach because their brakes are all setup for no backlash and you can’t get distance like that. I’d be willing to meet anyone in the Chicago area for a real life test.

      @@thehookuptackle_usa im referring to long distance casting of light weedless plastics. I own the Zillion SvTw and previously a tatula100. I’m comparing them to (again long distance casting of light weedless lures) Chronarch and Metanium MGL and Lews TLL and the reason I say this is because consistently I am able to outcast the Daiwas when using centrifugal based reels and am unable to reach the same distances when using my Zillion SV TW. I’d be willing to take you on a cast battle to prove or disprove either of our statements.

      They're not even available dude. I'm speculating price. In Asia they'll be 125,000 yen, which will be somewhere around $1000 depending on exchange. BUT - that's zero warranty or part support for a reel that has a computer and app that no one knows anything about. Most people won't want to spend $1000 on a brand new concept reel. I'm speculating if we see it in the USA, it will likely be around $1500. But we'll have to see.

      Daiwa makes plenty of reels for "average people". This is obviously not aimed at everyday fishermen. But, like all tech, it has to start somewhere. Sometimes it gets less expensive as it becomes easier to produce. Look at DC tech in Shimanos. Only a few years ago you had to buy Metanium or higher, and now you have it in Curado and SLX. So, we'll see where it goes from here.

    The fact this guy thinks a reel can make you noticeably better at fishing is hilarious. Some of these companies are just getting out of hand. I will 1000000% guarantee that reel will not be any noticeably better than a 250$ Curado DC. Even if it can cast "Lets say 15% farther" that definitely doesn't equate to a 600%-800% price increase. No real fisherman cares about how much force he is applying when casting. Sorry but this reel is a JOKE!
