I head out early as the temps are expected to hid mid 90s by noon.
I'm headed to mosquito lagoon and launching out of Bio lab ramp.
Meeting up with a subscriber who I recently chatted with. He also kayak fishes in a Hobie, also in the same area.
Beautiful sunrise. Lots of bugs.... but beautiful.
Fishing was well...... Lets just say that my new friend completely out fished me haha.
Even when I used the same lures. He kept getting on the fish.
I had one take on a decent school of redfish..... but set the hook to soon, the rest was like 6 pufferfish...that cost me about 15 bucks in gear and plastics by the end of the day.
Id be lying if I said I didn't start to get discouraged with it being so hot and me the only one not even getting a bite.....
    But...as I always say.....
    Its all perspective.
I'm on the water.... fishing the mosquito lagoon on the space coast of Florida.......and I made a new friend that has shared a lot of knowledge and tips.
To me that's a successful fishing trip and an amazing day in my book.
I must have a really good day of fishing to come.

I know right. I wish they could be used as something... even as bait, but nothing wants them. Was super cool the 2st few times catching them....that quickly changed to rage when I do 😄
Heck ya. If I can free up that evening I'll definitely let ya know

Thumper, you are one of the few that let us know where you go fishing. Some places I haven't been to as a kayaker so a suggestion is some info on the ramp itself. You use a trailer but most car top etc. Fees, toilet, hours? Thanks

Don't get me wrong.😆 Sometimes I will give a :general" location, especially if it's a spot not so common.
Also Sometimes, I have friends that take me to their favorite spot, and out of respect, i won't give exact locations.
But ya must well-known spots... I don't hide it, even if fishing is good... I genuinely want others to get outside and enjoy some fishing.....😎🤙
Now..... this has backfired, and injav3 had a few spots get packed after I do...it's happened....but that also pushed me to find new spots.
      All perspective. 😁
I appreciate the input. That's a great idea.
I really should give more details on the launch area. I have in some videos, but most areas I haven't.
I definitely will try and include more info. I know I find information like that valuable as well

I did get a new hitch assist to put my kayak in top of my car.
The trailer limits me to spots that have space to park it. Great for places with a ramp....not so great for small spots.
So soon, I'll explore the spots off some dirt roads. Stay tuned 😁

What type of areas were you targeting? How did you determine where to throw?

You know...I won't lie..I'm still learning what to look for 😅....
But from what I have learned so far and had the best luck in situations or places like this... where it is very shallow and flat. Most this are is foot and half to two feet deep.
I always look for cuts, ledges, and holes. Sometimes fish will hold in those.
This area has lots of patches of grass. So you have patches of grass and patches of bare sand. Usually casting in the big open areas between the grass and working it along the edge of the grass seems to work for trout and red fish.
Sometimes, if grass is thick....I'll throw a weedless jig setup. And bounce it through the grass.
If there are grass or grass patches....usually there is fish around them....
Getting them to bite might be another story, however 😂.
