As an Arsenal fan for over 55 years , losing Ashley still really hurts. He was destined to be our captain for 10 years and was the best lb in the world.
Always thought for England he could have been put as a LW or LM and put bridge as the LB ect would have balanced our team more

I blamed Cole , Adebayour , RVP etc for many years - I realised the past few years since they all have been talking it was all down to Arsenal/Wemger and their money making antics
Viera, Henry, Fabregas and RVP leaving didn't hurt as much as Ashley Cole's departure to Chelsea for 5m + Gallas 😔

They didn't give him what he was worth and also didn't get Wayne Bridge
The fans need to let it go and realise the club were not ambitious enough

I genuinely believe that the demise of Arsenal was Ashley Cole leaving, he was everything that team stood for and is one of the best LB's ever to grace a football pitch, if he never left to Chelsea, Arsenal would never have had such a massive drop off. He was that critical at the back as when you look at what we replaced him with it was crap, upon crap, Traore, Clichy, Santos, Tierney was the first competent left back we had since he left.
A great left back of the premier league alongside Evra. Offensively, Marcelo was better! Global impact however, Maldini & Roberto Carlos achieved more.
