      That works in some cases. We built a coop that keep a coyote out, and a raccoon just worked the door until it figured out how to open it, end result: 56 dead chickens, 8 dead ducks, and 3 very bloody geese standing over the body of a 26 pound Striped Trash Panda.

    I had a similar experience, my chickens were attacked, or rather being played with by the neighbors dog between our yards. they all screamed in terror. My favorite chicken a big beautiful rock island rooster heard and came running to their defense. I watched as he attacked the neighbors dog. The hens scattered, the large pit bull then did what all dogs do when attacked, attack back. My rooster took off flying away, but the pit bull was faster. I watched in horror from 20 yards away as it caught my rooster. Running as fast as I could I was five feet away when I heard him bite down with full force. The sound of all of my roosters ribs being crushed made me angry. At full speed at a dead run I tried to kick the head off my neighbors dog, he saw, I missed. He ran off, tail between it legs. I picked up Forghorn as he took his last breath. I carried his limp body back to the chicken pen. I buried him there, so his spirt could help protect the flock, after all he without regard for his own safety attacked a sixty pound pit bull to save his flock, I can say this as I saw it all myself. Fog Horn Leghorn was no chicken.

      Why were your chickens not inside a fence where this wouldnt happen? It sounds like your fault more than anything. Since u own prey animals u should know that just about anything that eats meat likes chicken and should have NEVER let them outside a fenced area. Its amazing how people cant take responsibility anymore these days. The dog was doing what any dog would.

    This is what happens when you don’t know how to put up a SAFE fence for your chickens. You always securely attach a second section of fence at ground level and bend it outward away from the fence that is attached to the fence posts and make it the full 4 feet out and then bury it. That coyote can dig forever and not get through that second section of buried fence and if you want him/her to give up quickly then use barbed wire instead. Another less labor intensive way Is to use an electric fence and make sure the bottom wire is only 1 or 2 inches off the ground. You will have to spray the ground for about a foot or so on both sides of the wire with an herbicide like Roundup so that the vegetation doesn’t short out the fence. It will only take 1 or 2 encounters with that fence and they both the coyotes and the chickens will stay away from the fence completely and I don’t care if you put the horn of good and plenty by that fence, nobody’s going to touch it. It won’t kill either animal if they touch it but it ain’t a fun experience and they WILL remember the experience of electricity.

      Yep. When I was younger a fox came and grabbed one of my mother's chickens,I ran out with my Ruger 10 22, The fox had set the chicken down to rest about 70 yards away from where I first spotted him, he was looking back at me and he was a very nice looking animal so I shot a round over his head and he bearly flinched so the next one went through his neck. The chicken jumped up and ran toward me and past me up to the house. God might have had something to do with it but Bill Ruger did most of the work.

      To be fair, they do have a tough life. They don't have a job and a paycheck or a debit card or credit card to go to Walmart. So, they hunt to stay alive. And truly, any easy kill they find is rare to come by, so they go for it when they find an easy prey to kill and eat.
      If this coyote could talk and could he knocked on your door to tell you that he was starving, hasn't eaten for 2 days and begged you for some food, I bet any of you that you would cook a meal and give him. But he can't tell you that as most people want to kill them any time. So, they have to try to steal their food. Can't blame them a lot.

      @reb1050 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@myytchannel6632 The only reason a coyote would be "starving" would be because there were too many coyotes in an area. After all, their diet is not specific. They eat just about anything, live or dead. Mice, rats, squirrels, rabbits, turkeys, fawn, calves, colts, dogs, cats, chickens, eggs, birds, snakes, and anything else they are capable of taking down. They hunt alone and in packs. I feel no pity for those scavengers. But then again, I live in an area that has a very healthy coyote population. So healthy, in fact, the state offers a chance at a lifetime hunting license for coyote pelts and allows coyote hunting, day or night, all year long. No limit on the number of kills, and no restrictions on the manner or the time they are taken.
