I used to visit this house with my guardian when I was a child. We would spend time there during the summer. An older white man lived there by himself. I remember the yellow bathroom and the wall with the stenciled trees upstairs. I don't think the stencils in that room were original to the house but were added on later to appear old. The wallpaper covering them wasn't up yet, that woukd have been 50 years or so ago. I remember playing in that room with a brother and suster who were about my age who lived in a town close by. The old man would have parties, late night affairs that began to get shut down by the police as the house developed a reputation of being a place to get drugs. Its been empty since the 1980s I think. Great video. Thank you for sharing it.

It's a little surprising no one has attempted to restore this house. The bones seem solid enough, many of the original interior elements are intact, it doesn't look like vandals have destroyed too much, and it does not seem to be in the middle of nowhere with nature overgrowing the property.

So sad that the house is just sitting there rotting away. I am sure years ago it was beautiful and filled with laughter and a family. The light fixtures and the staircase were the stars of the show. Thanks for the tour!

An a/c unit with touch digital controls clearly signals post 2000. 1st bath shown has receptacles are 1950-1960 as there’s no ground. It’s had a significant an amount of remuddling. Water standing in basement is likely reason why it’s abandoned.
I like all the old wallpaper. When I decorated under 7 layers of wallpaper was the original hand painted wallpaper. I live in a building from 1835. I think it dated back to when. it was built. It was fascinating seeing all the layers it was like a time capsuel. It is such a pity this house is left to decay. I wonder who owns it. Thanks for the tour.
I absolutely loved this old place!!! I can’t believe that it still isn’t being occupied 😞😰😢 It looks as though it’s gone through sooo many renovations!!! Different eras of history! I would love to take it back to the original, with the modern convinces! Structurally it still looks sound 👍 I love the original architectural features 👍🙏💕 The banister is in perfect condition!!! He stairway is solid!!! The height would not meet today’s requirements, however, it is beautiful & timeless none the less!!! The entire house would obviously need to be rewired & replumbed & reroofed, I would modernize and rework the kitchen & bathrooms as well!!! For the age of the house, I was amazed not to see a fireplace in every room!!! The exterior looks to be in pristine condition 👍💕 Thank you sooo very much for sharing this wonderful adventure with us!!! I truly loved it 👍🙏♥️

i really adore your videos, and i love that you are so open about your love for old things, history, and art. as an artist by trade, i really love seeing you appreciate the wallpapering, woodworking etc. especially in this time where a lot of people are forgetting that creativity and creating are so intrinsically human and important! its shaped us as people and societies going as far back as you could think. whenever i see arguments about art being inaccessible, i think a out cave drawings, people regardless of their backgrounds or funds create, always have. heck even soldiers during terrible war times have found items to transform into art, to have an outlet. its so important! anyways, love your videos haha
Always delighted, never disappointed by your explorations. Cool that it's finally here too - I've been waiting (in)patiently for something new. Beautiful house, great big kitchen. Top point about the love of detail. And the wood, this tremendous quality is timeless as you can see.
That staircase is beautiful this is a beautiful find!! I have one of those mirrors in my bathroom. I absolutely love it!! Duo use! I don't count you peeling the wall paper as vandalism it was already falling off the wall and you weren't doing it out of disrespect. The fireplace in the basement is top notch! I love fireplaces.
I grew up in a Victorian home, although not nearly as grand as this. The newel post and banister looked a lot like ours and that lovely glass lampshade was almost identical to some we had. It makes me sad to see that house falling into disrepair. You can't help but wonder what the story behind its abandonment is. Thank you for taking us along for the ride.
Thanks for sharing this video, it's unfortunate such a well built and once grand home has fallen into complete neglect. I appreciate your having captured it while it still stands.
I just found your channel today and I was immediately drawn to your content because your respect, and genuine curiosity for these places is palpable. Do you know the term "sonder" - it's that feeling of being acutely aware that all people have their own complex lives, wants, hopes, feelings, etc. as yourself. You have empathy and respect for not only the beauty of these old properties but the people that once resided there. I'd much rather see that than the type of people who just trample these places, with no respect for the properties, the people and creatures that lived there, and the people and creatures that live there now. (squatters and wildlife) We are all human beings and if someone were to stumble upon my home in the far future, I'd hope that they could make use of it, be kind, be respectful, appreciate the beauty it once had, and the beauty is has in whatever state of decay it might be in.
Thank you very much for sharing this naturally decaying beautiful pad. I love these homes that haven't been destroyed by human stupidity and ignorance. Beautiful home! I live in an Italianate home very similar to this and my house was built in 1870. So perhaps this home was built in the 1860s/70s? I hope this video goes viral and reaches someone who has the means to restore it!!
Beautiful old house. Maybe some day soon it will be back and lived in again. Thank you for the visit. Hope to see you back with another old house to explore. Be careful now .
Loved this. Absolutely gorgeous home. That goose light switch and the blue color in the dining room was totally part of the country goose trend of the 90s. At least in the southern US, it was in all our homes. Country goose blue. Anyway people must’ve lived there in the 90s I’d guess.
Based on what I'm seeing, I would put this around 1910. I lived in an 1860s house in Connecticut, this is more modern than that one was. Still, a beautiful old house. Someone should definitely buy the property and fix it up. Edit to respond to some older comments... former real estate agent. My best guess is 1910s-20s, with updates and additions. Likely an Interstate or freeway was built in the area (1960s-80s) and cut off the main arteries into and out of this neighborhood, in favor of suburbs. Thus bringing about a decline in the properties. Still, the modern window A/Cs, water heater and CFL bulbs would indicate someone was living here as late as early 2010s (a possible rental?). Would be a really great property to see fixed up.
You can tell it was definitely updated around the 1950s/60s due to all the wood being painted over😂😂 plus those additions to the home you entered through with all that linoleum 😂 Still such a beautiful home and I love that you can tell how loved it was through all the details from a century apart, when it was built, when it was updated and even now another half century later!
Someone mentioned they know this house and has been abandoned since the 80s. However the AC in the window is very mid 2000s (I have the same one from 2009) and the house doesn't look abandoned for that long. 10 years probably. Hopefully it is saved before it's too late! There's SO much awesome architecture in here. Also, if there's no address or it comes up as another house, it's very likely someone owns that house on their property and is not listed as a dwelling anymore.
A beautiful old place wow, that switch in the bathroom with the red light is for a shaver, the toilet one first floor is in a strange location i guess. Very nice explore again.
Amazing video! I have always been drawn to old abandoned homes as well. I would get the sense of the past like you do and think about all of the laughter, sorrow and experiences that took place behind the walls. Just curious to learn if you ever get the feeling of spirits or other supernatural occurrences when you explore these old properties? Keep up the great work! Stay safe!
I absolutely love your videos... best exploration I have seen that is very well done... always a pleasure seeing you and videos.... hope your doing amazing...
This was so interesting. Everything, but especially behind the wallpaper. Years ago, when we taking the wallpaper off in one of the rooms of my house, there were about 6 or 7 layers to scrape off. There wasn't much left in the house.
I think the parents passed away and the children got the house and then the grandkids got it And they didn't want to do anything with it But they could sell it to someone else and they could fix it up Or maybe the cost of it would be to much to fix it up It's a nice place And if i were getting to old I would fix it up and live there Great video Fireman 🔥🔥🔥👍
This is a great house Thank you for finding it cannot believe what great 'bones' this house has I had no idea about stenciling on walls that stenciling should never have been covered up so great that you discovered it 😀😀😀😀I would expect the front porch and the star steps to be' iffy 'at best Wonderful explore
What a wonderful video. Thank you for sharing. It's such a shame that there are so many old homes just left. I'd want to buy them all if I was a Explorer lol
The walls haven't got stencilling. It's the old wallpaper. It was cheaply printed. It even had an edge that you paid to have trimmed off. It was painted over, and the paint has peeled off.
Great tour. I love old houses and i have owned and restored two of them. An Eastlake and a Queen Ann. But this house has seen too much damage from mother nature. Too much water intrusion and rot.
I looooove old houses ! My dream home is an old Victorian home and when I see beautiful old homes for sale at such reasonable prices in some states it kills me because we live in New England near Boston Massachusetts where a small house with no character costs 1million dollars 😣
I think your best bet to determine when someone was here last time would be that light bulb in the staircase. Looks like one of those "energy saving" ones of some sort, so it might've been abandoned even in 2000s. But it could also been left in the 90s, as some people pointed out, also judging from that AC unit that doesnt look older than early 90s, and then used as a storage, until it was emptied from most of the stuff, that was most probably much newer
One place to inquiry is at a local retirement home. Make contact with the staff and ask if they could put a notice on the community bulletin board, "Can you share information or memories about this house?" I did this when I purchased a fixer upper and met several seniors who were glad to share their recollections about the house. If you're respectful and friendly this is a great source of information and you meet some interesting people.
The brick outside of that home is so lovely and the wood alongside the brick. Looked like black mold in the ceiling of that one room. It's a shame that someone doesn't restore it. A lot of expense and work required to restore it to its former splendor though.
Window AC is Haier brand, according to google was established in 1984, so last time people where there couldn't be any earlier than that. And considering the style of those window ac units, im betting its much later than that...older ac units had a dated look, far enough back and they actually had plastic panels that looked like wood grain. And older AC units didn't use digital panels, they used knobs! That AC unit next to the shelves actually looks like the same exact design my Haier had when I lived in my old house...which would of been 2012!
This gem is still sound. With a little touching up here and there. Couple of gallons of paint. A little elbow grease here and there, you could rent this place out for $2500 a month.
poor old Victorian house just left to rot 😮💨☹ I bet if this house was in Redlands CA, it never would have gotten into such disrepair. they have beautiful restored and well cared for Victorian houses there. it is almost like going back in time.
The fan in the living room is late 70’s to the 80’s so that’s likely when it was last lived in. However, the ceiling fan in the room with the pink bathroom is from the 1940/50’s. A super cool find for a fan nerd like me. I’d try to find the owners just to save that fan! House sadly is beyond my pockets.
We have a house like this in my hometown. I nearly thought it was the house because italianate houses are so rare and for them both to be abandoned seems mad. Even on the newspaper when it mentioned the ponderosa being near the Kmart would’ve been the same. It was only because the newspaper had ads from Illinois that confirmed it wasn’t the same house. The house in my town has been shown in some abandoned house groups on Facebook but I can’t do anymore research other than that as I no longer live in the US and our local newspaper blocks access to those out of the country. ☹️

Gotta ask . U always has such amazing music in your videos , where do you get them? And ofcourse your videos are 10+ 👍🏻🤝
Amazing video!
Stay safe!
In one of the light fixtures is a CFL bulb, and the water heaters look relatively new. I wonder how long it has been empty?
I noticed that too and guessed the bulb would have been from the early 2000's, but supposedly they were available in north america as early as 1995.
I absolutely love your videos... best exploration I have seen that is very well done... always a pleasure seeing you and videos.... hope your doing amazing...
That house is move in ready so far as i am concerned! Really nice place!
This was so interesting. Everything, but especially behind the wallpaper. Years ago, when we taking the wallpaper off in one of the rooms of my house, there were about 6 or 7 layers to scrape off. There wasn't much left in the house.
I would love to see these houses new. Some are beautiful.Like this one.
I think the parents passed away and the children got the house and then the grandkids got it And they didn't want to do anything with it But they could sell it to someone else and they could fix it up Or maybe the cost of it would be to much to fix it up It's a nice place And if i were getting to old I would fix it up and live there
Great video
Fireman 🔥🔥🔥👍
This is a great house
Thank you for finding it cannot believe what great 'bones' this house has
I had no idea about stenciling on walls that stenciling should never have been covered up so great that you discovered it
😀😀😀😀I would expect the front porch and the star steps to be' iffy 'at best
Wonderful explore
Thank you for this video. Just discovered your channel. Such good narration.
Very cool exploration. Thanks for posting and bringing us along.
Love this find ❤ uncut gem of an explore
Must of been beautiful in it's hay day. Thanks for the great explore
That's a really cool house. Full of ghosts.
Great explore! Awesome old brick house! Looks like they may have added that smoking patio on to it in the 50s.
Again, thank you devin for this amazing video❤
I love the old kitchen. I don’t know why the always remove everything to install new cabinets and sinks etc. love this one!
Those walls have Wallpaper under the other Wallpaper, that is NOT Stenciling, looks like the house was very nice in it's day !
Hello to everyone in Murfreesboro,Illinois!..
Hey Devin watching now loving the video as always.
Wow 😲 beautiful history and I think it could probably be saved nice find
Great stuff, thanks, Devin 👌😄
Love the curved brickwork on the outside of the windows!
What a beauty, thanks for sharing 😊
6:58 That's actually an insane newspaper 😳 The towns it lists Murphyboro, Anna, and Du Quoin, il...A lot of my family lives in those areas. Crazy!
The back room with the small bathroom was likely the master bedroom.
Wow! What a find 😊
I had a corner sink like that in my upper west side apartment ( 1915 ) in Manhattan.
Nice restoration project
Awesome find!👍
The brick outside of that home is so lovely and the wood alongside the brick. Looked like black mold in the ceiling of that one room. It's a shame that someone doesn't restore it. A lot of expense and work required to restore it to its former splendor though.
The bathroom tiles are just like the 1924 house that I grew up in.
The library will have the plans of the property layout.
Thanks awesome house once upon time I enjoyed watching
Very nice explore pal.
This gem is still sound. With a little touching up here and there. Couple of gallons of paint. A little elbow grease here and there, you could rent this place out for $2500 a month.
Very nice, but spooky. Thanks for the tour!
poor old Victorian house just left to rot 😮💨☹
I bet if this house was in Redlands CA,
it never would have gotten into such disrepair.
they have beautiful restored and well cared for
Victorian houses there. it is almost like going back in time.
The fan in the living room is late 70’s to the 80’s so that’s likely when it was last lived in. However, the ceiling fan in the room with the pink bathroom is from the 1940/50’s. A super cool find for a fan nerd like me. I’d try to find the owners just to save that fan! House sadly is beyond my pockets.
great explore. This house was wonderful once. Love the kitchen. How old are you? sometime you look like a kid sometime much older
