Nest Box Chicks Brutally Attacked by Enraged Sparrow

  • An enraged sparrow brutally attacked a fellow sparrows nest full of chicks. She flew into the nest an immediately grabbed one of the 12 day old chicks by the neck and started thrashing it around. The other chicks were confused as to what was happening since the bird looked like their mom. I had noticed another bird getting chirped at around the nest so this female sparrow must be the culprit. The father sparrow has been missing for a few days so maybe this female sparrow chased him away. I think this female sparrow wants the nest box so she is trying to remove the chicks.

Also, if you weren't an idiot, you'd realize that the chicks are ALSO house sparrows.

It was just so upsetting, I hope the injured chick managed to make a full recovery. What made that female sparrow to attack an innocent chick like that? Was it uh domination issue with the current parents that are raising their chicks in this nesting box? Or was it something else?

@ that’s a theoretical ruse at it’s worst. I can’t imagine someone that reminded me of some human beings who squat at another human being’s residence. This is what I’m assuming this to be, in regard to one’s despicable way of trying to assert their claim to a preexisting space that doesn’t belong to them. Some things should apply to all species. It seems that some species don’t understand that there are rules that are meant to protect those that deserve their right to protect their own space from others. Especially when the current resident is occupied by an existing family member that includes their own babies that they are trying to protect. It has nothing to do with nature controlling one over another.

House sparrows exhibit aggressive behavior, especially during nesting periods. They are known to be territorial and may attack nestlings of other sparrows to defend their chosen nesting sites. This behavior includes destroying eggs, killing nestlings, and sometimes even adult birds that are attempting to nest in their territory.
Male house sparrows are particularly aggressive in defending their nests and will spend a significant amount of time guarding their territory during the breeding season. They may attack adults of other species, peck at eggs, and remove or kill nestlings from nest boxes. This aggression is mainly directed towards their own neighbors, as house sparrows are more bonded to their nest site than to their mate.
It’s important to note that while house sparrows can be aggressive, their main diet consists of seeds, grains, and insects, not other birds. Direct instances of sparrows killing other birds are rare2. The aggressive behavior is more about competition for nesting spots rather than predation. Providing diverse habitats and maintaining bird-friendly environments can help foster a harmonious coexistence among different bird species.

@@gabe21santi "If you don't like nature, then don't watch" ??? you literally telling me to not watch it
And how would you think that I am bashing someone's video, what did I say? "Sad is nature too, you monster =(" is that bashing someone's video?
It doesn't have to fit my needs, I can watch it and I can be sad when I find it cruel because there is nothing wrong with expressing real emotions, it's human nature.
