  • This damage piece of morganite is given a beautiful modern cut. The damage to the stone was more extensive than realized causing some extra steps needed during the cutting of the stone.

    I don't like it when I have to go back and recut facets that I have already finished, but it has to happen sometimes to get the stone cut just right.

    Man well done! As a jewelry buyer who takes appointments from the public, people don’t understand what kind of damage a scratch or abrasions can do to their gemstones. Very very thorough analysis and work Matt

      Thanks! If people are careful with their jewelry, their stones can look amazing for a long time without accumulating much wear. When a stone accumulates abrasions and scratching, it reduces the luster of the stone causing it to loose its crisp clean look from when the gemstone was newly polished.

    What make/model of Camera do you use for your Lap-Elevation video recording ?
    PS> Great job recovering after over-cutting the Table Facet. It's a fantastic looking Morganite.

      Thank you! In some of my earlier videos, I was borrowing some cameras before I got my own. That close up on was a DJI Action camera.

    Hi! What kind of equipment is this?

    • @MattsCornerofGemCutting
      @MattsCornerofGemCutting  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is a mast type faceting machine. I use an Ultratec V5 Analog faceting machine along with the different grit cutting and polishing wheels and other accessories needed for cutting and polishing gemstones.

    How many time do u take to mirror polish a facet ?
    I don't know if its my lap or my technique but it can take me 15 minutes more to polish a litle facet and i don't know if its normal ( i have a copper lap and path through 320 - 600 - 3000 - diamond paste polish ) on a aqua marine
