"The first time I ever really listened to Kyle Kulinski’s show was in the back of a cab last summer. The driver had his phone hooked up through the stereo and was pumping out an episode through the car speakers - loudly, as if looking to convert a captive audience.
    “Do you like Kyle Kulinski?”
The driver, Ahmed, was a recent immigrant and apparently a die-hard fan of Secular Talk, the political talk show that Kulinski broadcasts on TH-cam. I told him, yes, in fact. I do like Kulinski, had come across his show several years ago, and, all things considered, he seemed pretty good.
“He understands what we’re up against,” Ahmed said. “Like Bernie.”
But I was surprised to hear Kulinski’s name mentioned in the same breath as Bernie Sanders, particularly with such adoration. Because what I did remember about Kulinski’s show struck me as mostly capital-P “progressive” takes on the news - the left wing of the Netroots crowd more than the democratic socialism Sanders has popularized.
It’s an impression that wasn’t entirely incorrect.
“I have no time for philosophical, airy bullshit,” Kulinski tells me from his home in Westchester, New York. “I don’t want to hear about Lenin. I don’t want to hear about Marx. I just want a super plainspoken, straightforward agenda with a straightforward way of selling it.”
With over 800,000 subscribers and nearly 670 million total views on TH-cam, selling a progressive agenda is clearly something Kulinski knows how to do - even Democracy Now, the long-standing flagship of progressive media, cannot match his reach on the platform. Chapo Trap House can certainly boast a wildly devoted fan base (and a not insignificant degree of media influence), but their audience is roughly half the size of Kulinski’s.
While Secular Talk might be more likely to be looped in with the progressive networks around Air America and Pacifica alums like Sam Seder than the more resolutely socialist world, Kulinski’s fiery rhetoric, razor-sharp class instincts, and knack for withering takedowns sets him apart from his peers. Judging by his rhetoric alone, he’s closer to a Eugene Debs than a Chris Hayes.
But unlike Hayes, Amy Goodman, or his friend Cenk Uygur of The Young Turks - who began airing Secular Talk on his web network seven years ago - the thirty-two-year-old Kulinski is virtually invisible in the mainstream media. Despite his enormous fan base, his show has never once been mentioned in the obligatory trend pieces on “the Millennial Left” pumped out by the prestige media. Nor has Kulinski’s name ever popped up at all in the New York Times, Vox, the New Yorker, New York Magazine, or the Washington Post, despite his leading role in cofounding Justice Democrats, the organization widely credited with sweeping Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the rest of “the Squad” to power.
Just last week, his Wikipedia page was deleted. The reason? “There is very simply no [reliable source] coverage of this person,” according to one moderator. In new media, he’s king - the Sean Hannity of the Berniecrat left. In old media, he’s nobody.
I suspect there are a few reasons for that. There is nothing “cool” about Kulinski’s show. (As a friend put it, “‘Welcome to Secular Talk’ sounds like something you’d hear on Egyptian radio.”) His no-nonsense social-democratic politics won’t get him much cred with the Full Communism crowd. He records his show not in Brooklyn or Los Angeles, but in a studio he built himself in his modest Westchester home. His hair is too groomed and his taste in clothes too preppy to qualify as “Dirtbag Left.” Nor has he ever attended an n+1 release party. “Not only have I not attended one,” he says, “I have no idea what that means.”
And yet he’s astonishingly plugged-in for a young man in the suburbs. Wondering how Sanders ended up on the Joe Rogan Experience? Kulinski, a frequent guest on Rogan’s wildly popular show, introduced them. “You make the most sense to me,” Rogan told Kulinski on a recent episode. “You’re a normal person.”
Much like Sanders himself, Kulinski’s show has a massive audience that just doesn’t compute with our media’s understanding of “what the kids want” or even “what the left-wing kids want.”
It’s probably for the best - the very woke and very WASP-ish decorum haunting much of the media world is nowhere to be found in Secular Talk. “Corporate Democrats over-focus on identity as a trick to divert you from the issues that unite us all - class issues,” he said on a recent episode.

If they would care or take it as Da TRUTH- there would be no Jews, all would be converted to Christianity a long time ago. The whole point of Judaism is waiting for the "real" Messiah who will do several mircales, including rebuilding the 2nd temple. That tells me Jesus is thought as a fraud and not a messiah, thus the Jews only care about the Old Testament which is basically part from the Torah.

Yes, and that has been an active discussion amongst Christians for centuries. The history is more complicated than Kyle seems to understand (considering he thinks the Christian idea of giving at Christmas is materialistic). While the early church took the imagery of pagan celebration, stripped away the pagan meaning and replaced it with Christian theology in order to make it easier for foreign cultures to relate to Christianity; this has been looked at by Christians and non-Christians as confusing at the least. But no, they are not actually practicing pagan beliefs. That is a bit anti-historical, even if I agree it is not appropriate.

    • @justinmiller947

@@NunYabiznass-hd6dj To your first point, i need to point out that from a rational standpoint, you don't want to be stabbed so you shouldn't stab someone else is silly, because other people will stab you if given the opportunity. If they want to stab you and you don't want to stab them, they win. It is a nice self-sacrificial idea, but doesn't line up with reality. This idea makes sense in a family, community, and even up to the national level (although not as cleanly as secularists like to pretend) for evolutionary reasons (you want your genes to pass on), but it doesn't hold up at all on the international level. Historically, the evil people who killed proactively were the successful ones who passed on their genes (and looking at what we did in the Middle East, south America, etc. it is still a very effective way of staying on top. I don't respect this idea as a basis for morality because it only works in very specific hypotheticals but not as a general rule.
The world has historically been horrible. I think you and Kyle miss this point. You can easily point to any group of people throughout time and find the evil things they have done whether they were Christian or not (because all people are evil). But this is a straw man. Any Christian or atheist who claims Christians are better morally because they claim to be Christian is ill-informed or outright lying. But those who follow Christian teaching will make their communities a better place to live (not their own lives, other people's lives). This is a sleight of hand that Kyle tried to pull off badly. Those "secular" countries that he is talking about, follow Christian moral teachings, even when they do not believe those teachings themselves. Yes, on paper, they may seem more secular than the old European countries that claimed to be Christian, but in practice, they are still following Christian teachings. Yet, while they practice those beliefs, they still ally themselves with more powerful countries that do evil things for their own protection, because while the self-sacrificial mentality is nice, it is not rationally speaking a strong survival strategy.

I live in the Netherlands, where last year "more than half of the population proclaim they are either agnostic or atheist, making it the first agnostic/atheist country in the world.". So, mostly non-believers, you'd think that if we believe Ben our country would be a dystopian hellscape with only powerhungry narcissists, or wait.. "In the same week the report declaring the country to be agnostic/atheist was released, the United Nation’s World’s Happiness Report was also issued. With more non-believers than believers, the Netherlands still ranked #5 happiest country in the world."
(I had a link here for reference to the news article where I quoted from, but apparently the YT bot sees that as spam and instantly deletes the comment. Google quotes for full article: Majority of Dutch people are now agnostic or atheist - The Holland Times)

As a shaman I will stress the importance of atheistism, religious pride and cruelty makes it necessary that there be people willing to reject the faith for the greater good, to the universe it is more important for people to be good than it is for the universe to be worshipped, in the end it may be a cynical outlook but if you cannot have good and faith then faith should be rejected for good, the universe is ultimate wisdom so if the Christians the Jewish and the Muslim people must be removed to ensure the good inside of humanity that will be chosen!
So to this i challenge the religious people to choose the path of love good and tolerances or risk the universe itself or to you god himself rejecting your faith not rejecting you but rejecting your faith!

"Property rights are natural fights?" ...then why did the Native Americans see things totally different to stereotypical western thinking?
"Christianity is the foundation for progress" ...then why is it the Church persecuted some of those top leaders like Galieo, and why didn't they admit he was right until 1979, well over 300 years later after he died under house arrest and excommunicated (sentenced to eternal afterlife torture) because of them? What about the Inquisition? Why did the Church ally with Hitler in WW2 and help Nazi war criminals escape? Why has the pedophile priest scandal still not been resolved after literally decades? If the Church can't get something as basic as the subject of child abuse, the sun being the center of solar system, or Hitler correct, should we really think of them as "the foundation of progress"?

Paganus is Latin. It means the rural folk. Christianity spread in the cities first. If you think about it, Christians were the new urban liberal ‘woke’ religion, and once they took over the Empire, any hold outs were held in severe derision. Pagan came to mean polytheistic in a ‘deplorable’ sort of way. Today Christianity is in the same position that ‘Pagans’ once found themselves as young people leave church and search for new moral authorities to follow.

The only reason Dawkins started calling himself a cultural Christian is because there are more extreme Islamic groups in areas of Europe such as the UK, who are actively pushing for Islamic morality laws. This is something we in the US have luckily not had to deal with, especially since they are outnumbered by “Christians” attempting to do their own version. Europe is also much closer to conflict areas in The Middle East. I’m not a fan of it personally, but I understand and respect why he is doing so. There’s genuine fear behind it, which is infuriating on another level, entirely. Just think back to his direct reference on not removing cathedrals and other iconography. The “teachings” of Yeshua (Jesus) were also getting more and more radical, and were in fact, heading in the same direction as Islam; which taught peace before assuming control, then quickly turned to totalitarianism. Yeshua, if he ever existed, was a failed apocalyptic preacher who fully expected his “prophecies” to come to fruition within his lifetime, and that didn’t happen.
