      AW are trying to bring this to more people but limited by how fast they can produce the hand made guilloche dials. Keep looking on their site for the next batch to be released. It is great value for what you get, IMHO.

    Thanks for the video. Does the movement have second stop now? And how those it run? I really like the look but I have to say I am concerned about the movement…

    • @watchcollector4293
      @watchcollector4293  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Currently they don't have a stop second mechanism (or hacking seconds if that is what you mean) and similar to the FP Journe way of not incorporating it for various reasons. Personally, I don't mind not having it since I don't find much use for it. There are pros and cons of having it but as someone said FP Journe left it out for 2 reason, it's like having brakes slamming against the balance wheel to stop it every time you pull the crown out. It would be quite damaging to the accuracy of the watch if consistently pulling out the crown. Secondly, with the mechanism incorporated to do this feature means the space could be taken away for another pressing feature. There will always be people who like and don't like this since it's a personal preference and really no right or wrong. As for the movement Dandong SL1588, this movement is already the most updated one since it's slimmer, more accurate and closer to the tolerance level required by a watch which can take 10 ATM with screw down crown. I have been wearing it daily since I've got and it's pretty accurate so far after checking it on the timegrapher. I don't have any complaints. I think for this price it represents outstanding value with a handmade guilloche dial? People compare this watch to PP and watches which is over 10 times the amount. Whilst it's flattering, is pretty unfair. Just enjoy it for what you pay for. It's pretty unique though. Have a good one:)

      @@watchcollector4293 Thanks for the extensive reply. As I have a larger collection and switch watches daily, on weekends sometimes twice I really like to be able to set the watch in a more convenient way. And yes, the only watch I owned that did not have it was a rather cheap one with a basic Miyota so FP Journe is not the that comes to my mind. Not comparing it in any way to a PP. The dial is stunning, the case too. Just if it had a Swiss Movement or higher grade japanese I would be feeling a bit more confindent about it but I get the "made in China with pride" idea. I am already on list for one, so maybe I'll take the plunge.

      @@mikerr8462 I concur with you there is always improvements that can be made to the movement. Personally, I can only speak for myself as a collector. I started out trying to buy the most expensive pieces I can afford and once I touched Lange, I was spending so much for very high end quality pieces. But I realized that I can also get fine looking watches which are reasonable in price and also get as much enjoyment from them without denting your wallet that badly or if one has family we cannot commit too much on what is deemed as luxury. In other words I try to detach myself from the price of the watch as much as I can and just try to enjoy different types of watches for the "Art" of what it offers. For AW to put a higher end movement into it would probably double or triple the price straight away but I agree I would pay slightly more for a better movement if there were options. I am sure they will improve with time once they have enough interest and build more of their branding.

    Thanks for the video. Do you have to pay UK duty on top of the price of the advertised price of the watch?

    • @watchcollector4293

      TBH I think if it is shipped to the UK you have to the pay UK VAT on it. It depends on which country you reside. Since I am in Hong Kong we don't need to pay any VAT on this price. It is your residing country which requires this. :(

      Fair enough. I try not to compare a $4000 watch to a $30000 watch. Can it compare to a Lange or Patek? Maybe not yet. It's a subjective thing equivalent to liking or not liking a song:) I try to enjoy it for what it is.

      Fair point but everything is relative in price. You want pay US$30K and get a Lange movement you are always welcome. According to me this is great value at the right price point. If you expect to pay $3K and expect Lange hand engraved balance cock with own movement someone needs to wake you up from your dream;)

      @@watchcollector4293 I'm just being real here, not dreaming. At this price, there are plenty of watches with better accuracy. It doesn't mean this watch is bad or less valuable just because it's Chinese. But let's admit, it's not the best for its price, especially in terms of design, in my opinion.
