    Agree with everything you said. I have a 900 Rally Pro and I rode this yesterday and it’s great fun. Seems like a really good all rounder but also very quick when you want it to be. I’m 6ft4in and waiting on delivery of my rally Explorer, really excited to be upgrading! The 900 is awesome and this seems like it takes that on further still!

    Thanks for the review of this great looking bike Dan. Heaven knows when we will get it in "Straya", but I will certainly have a test ride of it. Would also like to compare this to the Tiger 900 GT pro. Possible replacement for my fjr1300? Also waiting for the launch of the new BMW GS1300. I have a year before full retirement, so the timing could be perfect! Promised myself a new last bike when I retire, and the choice is becoming more difficult by the month! Thanks again Dan, appreciate it brother. Ride well.

    Sounds like it's mis-firing under 4k revs (t-plane crank) and the vibes are noticeable (but not problematic) from the pegs and handlebars. Slightly snatchy throttle at times. Handling, performance and power are all great. Its a heavy bike (despite any claimed weight loss). The price reflects that the 1200 is a lot of motorcycle. Above 4k revs the bike is a smooth three cylinder engine.

      Been there done that. New Tiger 1200 lacks the massive grunt your GS(A) and KTM 1290 have. Unfortunately it doesn’t have a good top end either. And in between it vibes a lot. So my opinion: get the Orange one 😁

    • @NicePantsLance
      @NicePantsLance ปีที่แล้ว

      @Danny the Tiger has a fantastic top end, especially compared to the GS. A stock Tiger put down 127whp @8,600 rpm. A stock Super Adventure 1290 put down 134whp @9,060 rpm on the same dyno. Might not have the same grunt down low, but saying its got a poor top end is disingenuous. The KTM and MultiV4 are definitely the nastiest ADV's out there for top end 😁👍

    I rode this bike last week. Having followed all the hype of the T Plane crank etc I was rather disappointed, was expecting some kind of soul like the BMW GS has the bark of the flat twin and likewise KTM and their V twins but it doesn't. Personally I thought the engine just sounded like the valves were out of adjustment, clattering sound. The throttle response in Sport was definitely snatchy although being a sport bike rider I loved the suspension firmed up in sport mode. Felt the gearchange was clunky !!!
    Biggest surprise was the amount of wind buffet/noise regardless of where the screen was. however I'm 5'11'', like to sit high up so had the seat on the highest position.
    All in all, a very agile bike with a heck of a lot of performance, superb suspension but with the noise of the engine, clunky gearchange and windblast not worth £10K extra on top of my Speed triple 1050. My 1050 engine felt nicer, just smooth.
    However, I am going back to a different dealer just to try another 😂

    I'm the same size and height as you: 5.8 in the morning and 5.7 and a bit in the evening. I rode the Suzuki VStrom which is the same height as the Tiger, loved the bike (replacement after bike knocked over by inattentive car person (love them or not)), but it was tiring looking for places to stop, taking into consideration road camber, and other issues. There's no way I could contemplate one of these as my daily, just because of height issues. I'm sure it's a great bike for whoever is tall enough, however. I agree about the clock. It's a bit rubbish, really.

    • @Englishbikerdan

      That's interesting, have no isses with the Vstrom on the lower setting of 850 or the Tiger 1200. Mind you, leg length can play a bit part. An extra inch can make all the difference. So I hear.... :D

    (a) Living on this side of the pond I can never get over those narrow lanes with blind hedges so close to the shoulder. For highway-speed roads we typically keep the foliage trimmed back at least a 100' or more because of the deer leaping about.
    (b) What do you think about vibration? Several reviewers on the Rally version noted considerable vibration in the handlebars at highway speeds? One reviewer said it was enough to make his hands go numb after some time, and also made the mirrors vibrate enough to be unusable. Most reviewers commenting on this said the unbalanced engine design was causing the vibrations. Does the GT trim have this same issue?

    • @Englishbikerdan
      @Englishbikerdan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the country roads are fun but a bit dangerous at high speeds. I'm used to the T plane engine as I own the 850 Sport. It's definitely going to numb your hands after a few hours but I'm used to it. Mirrors were fine though.

      Might be worth hanging on to see what the 1300 GS is going to be like before deciding. If history repeats itself it'll be worth the wait though I do like the fact that Triumph offer more adjustment across their modes. I don't know if I could put up with the viby nature of the engine at higher speeds especially when this model is the road going version as the 1250 GS is nice and smooth now with faultless fueling. Might have a test ride though just to see what it's like as weight wise it's about the same as my GS though don't know if the offer a low version which I'd prefer being a short arse!

      That's funny, while I was riding the new 1200 it quietly whispered "That Zion Danny is ugly af". 😁

    I'm not really a fan of adventure bikes anymore, even though I have owned several. Never had a Triumph.
