Kreta Ayer

Kreta Ayer was once an area where water carts drawn by bullocks were a common sight. They would ferry water from wells in the surrounding areas like Ann Siang Hill to distribute around Chinatown.
Today, Kreta Ayer Road, which lies within Chinatown’s Bukit Pasoh Conservation Area, is home to an eclectic stretch of shophouses, residences, a community centre and theatre. What are some of your fond memories of Kreta Ayer Road?
