I recently went to check out the new Z and have to say, I was incredibly disappointed. Compared to most of the cars in that price range, it was very underpowered with no good changes to the styling.
A 1973 240Z was my first Z. I loved that car. When I saw the new Z was very excited. I thought this was Nissan's chance to really blow up the market. I have yet to see one in person, because they are not making any. If the car was available at 40k, I think they would be selling all they could make. Huge markups and no cars on the lot, wasted chance. Shame.
I will keep my '15 370Z Sport (Magma Red) still in showroom condition without any mods and 52K mi. Got the money now to move on to a real supercar but which one? Never been a beemer fan so that's out. The C8 is over priced not selling. So a 911 Turbo, Ferrari 488, or Lambo SVJ are my three choices.
I hear what you're saying, but majority wont turn to this particular Z car until most other cars are no longer available.. Pretty much any 'enthusiast' car will be FAR more desirable and sought after once new ICE cars are banned (2030??).. And the car itself is a disappointment.. It's a reskinned Q60 Red Sport with a manual... Uses the same chassis as before (going on 20+years old now).. Nismo only available with an auto because their ancient manual can't handle the extra hp/tq from the Nismo performance add-ons... It's a classic 'what do we have in the collective parts bin we can throw at this and call it new?'.. They were probably like 'it works for Dodge, why not us?'. Different customer bases is why, lolol...
There won't be any parts for it, that is the biggest issue. If they aren't making that many and something breaks down the line you'll be looking to a 3d printer.
I think the new Z looks fantastic, but you're on the money saying it's WAY too expensive. I think a lot of companies are still in the post covid mindset of where they can charge a ridiculous amount of money for whatever cause "guys it's inflation" "supply chain issues" or whatever. Cause that is a STEEP jump for a car that was just competing at the price points of Golfs and Civic SIs a few years ago.
you're out of touch if you don't understand the margins on what car makers make on cars, guy. They are razor thin. Google it. It's a business and to recoup all the cost, they have to charge what they charge.
I think Nissan knocked it out of the park with the new Z. It's beautiful, fast, and has just the right tech updates. Nissan has only produced about 2500 of them so far, and that's intentional. They're keeping the production numbers low. It will never be as common as the 350 or 370z. Even so, it's very possible to get a new Z at or even below MSRP right now. There are some brand new Performance models listed at $50-52k as I type this in late May 2024. It's important to remember 2 big factors when judging the new Z- 1) Inflation is the major reason for the price jump from the last generation. The new Z is priced right in line with the prior generations if you take inflation into account. A 2003 350z Touring was $32-33k new. When you factor inflation into the equation, that's the same price as the Z Performance now ($54-55k). 2) We're probably near the end of the internal combustion car. This is likely the last ICE Z car ever. We're actually very lucky that Nissan even built this car at all. For the people saying that it's underpowered- You're out of your damn minds. The car makes more power than advertised (especially torque), and it's plenty. 0-60 between 4 and 4.5 seconds depending on which model and transmission is plenty quick. There are people hitting 440-450 WHP with intakes, exhaust, and a tune. Nissan didn't kill the Z. They made a good GT sports car that isn't exactly what some people were (unrealistically) expecting. It's inevitable that it would be compared to the Supra, which is a little bit quicker stock versus stock. Toyota didn't even make their own car. They had BMW do 90% of the work. Of course BMW and Toyota together could produce a car that would technically outperform what Nissan can make right now. That said, I think the Z is a much better-looking car. The Z is a beautiful car, and the Supra looks confused and cartoonish. Long live the Z.
I was so excited for the New Z.. was on the top of my list since it first was announced. After it finally debut.. it was such a lackluster car.. its a decade too late.
i mean from the 3-4 ive seen in the past few months they are nice but there aint many of them...when they finally released the supra EVERYBODY has one....dont rly see the Z4s tho
I think your comparisons between the performance spec z and the c8 are not warranted. Yes the c8 looks and is a better car but there is a $20,000 price gap between the 2.
Nissan is selling this car off driving experience and being a “blank canvas” (tunability) knowing damn well this car doesn’t hold up well for the price their asking. (And I doubt they care) I know they don’t have a lot of money to spend on developing a sports car, but they need to recognize that the Z cannot just be a “boulevard cruiser” against vehicles like the supra, Camaro ss, and mustang gt .

Bought my new Nissan Z Performance for 49k usd. I think for that price, it’s an excellent option but I realize I was very lucky to find that deal.

Pull up an inflation calculator in compare the price of a 350z in 2003 to a new Z today. They really are the same price once inflation is factored in.
