2023 Nissan Z Performance 9 Speed Automatic 0-60 MPH and Launch Control

- Let's test out the all new 2023 Nissan Z Performance and see what it can do 0-60! We try normal launches and just flooring it, then finally engage launch control!This is a 0-60 MPH test with the new 2023 Nissan Z Performance equipped with the 9 speed automatic transmission. It was in the low 80 degree Fahrenheit air temperature and this is on the stock Bridgestone tires. All the runs were on flat ground. I tested the car in drive and in manual shift mode. All in Sport mode and tried it with traction control on and off. The new 2023 Nissan Z Performance doesn't really seem to have a launch control. It just ends up spinning the tires standing still. But I tried launching the car by holding the brake and the gas at the same time, and then letting of the brake. Simply just flooring the gas while taking my foot off the brake got me the best result. With traction control off, it'll do a burnout 1st and 2nd gear if you try and launch it. But my best run was under 4.2 seconds by using the paddle shifters and having traction control off and just flooring it while taking my foot off the brake. Then using Launch Control it comes down to nearly 4 seconds flat! Very odd launch control system. Press the brake very hard, hold both paddle shifters, floor the gas, and let off the gas once it says Launch Active! Keep the car in Sport mode with traction off and in automatic. In drive it doesn't seem to redline. Car shifted at 6,500 RPM each time in drive. In manual mode it didn't seem like it would redline 1st gear either. The paddle shifters aren't that responsive and it was a bit challenging to judge when to shift. Had to shift 200 RPM before I wanted for it to then shift at redline. Overall the new 2023 Nissan Z seems to be able to achieve 0-60 in 4 seconds flat with the performance package and automatic!

I love 6 speeds and all, but look at those shifts! Its insane!
THe shifts aren't that good to be honest lol. Theres is about a 200 rpm delay from when you hit the paddle. So it could use some tuning

The problem is the new Z doesn't come with the best tires. And that's being nice. I feel like i took you 10 pulls to get heat into the tires to finally give you a 4 flat time. Despite any loss of power from heat soak. Michelin pilot sport cup tires would probably get you into the 3.9 range. Even some conti max performance tires would help. Great car!!

@@chiemychiem7533 This z car did a 0-60 in 4.0 seconds. Will do mid 12 seconds in the 1/4mi. All on street tires and un prepped surface. Its faster then the new mustang gt . It doesn't even need mods.

I got 4.7 in my 2024 ecoboost with 85 less horsepower and 500 lbs heavier. This car should do mid to high 3s
@@panglingaow Z doesn’t have good tires. The Supra does about 3.8. But it comes with Michelins. Z tires stock aren’t the best
@@panglingaow it’s not gonna do mid to high 3s with rear wheel drive which is what’s holding it back. The difference between 4.1 and 4.8 is massive when you take into account it’s going to struggle with traction much more than your mustang eco boost. 400hp, rear wheel drive and almost 1600kg should not equate to mid to high 3s. 4.1 is very impressive. Also your mustang is not 500lb heavier at all, where are you getting your facts from? The Nissan Z is 1610kg and your mustang weighs in at 1655kg. That’s 45kg/99lb difference. 5 times less than what you’ve stated.

Depends on what the manual Supra price will be. I think a base 3.0 Supra with drivers assistant pkg is the best value and best option if you want the auto. But the performance Z manual or sport z manual will probably be the best value if you want stick. Supra premium is $6k more then z performance. So that’s a big difference for not much more performance

@@davidhenry8137 That’ll be a tough one! But the Z performance is a big price drop from the Supra. If you want all the tech options it’s a good deal. I do like the extra interior space and storage then the Supra. If you don’t care about options the sport z is even cheaper then the 4 cyl Supra. So that’s also a heck of a deal

Should be nearly the same. Maybe just a tad quicker if the Infiniti weighs more. But I doubt much
is this with 1 ft rollout or not? Not sure what device you were using.. get a dragy performance meter for the most accurate times.
From a stand still. Just timing it while editing the video and wathcing the frames from when the car first accelerates to hitting 60. Easy to time accurately zooming in on the editing software frame by frame

I'm hoping 450 HP. With an adaptive suspension
tires can make a difference but remember, this is also heavier and only has 360 hp to wheels, so i guess it will not be below 4.0 seconds. hagerty did multiple shoots for the drag race on a prepped surface and the best time they could get out of it was 4.0. again still impressive. though.

@@Justicefu thats 400hp to the crank just base power but whp is subtracting the drivetrain loss of the car to find the real hp which ive seen 379hp highest to the wheels for stock

I suggest you brake boost the car. Hold the brake pedal to the floor and the gas pedal to the floor. Hold it there for 3 seconds while the boost builds then immediately release the brake.

That’s as high as the revs go though, it stops around 2-2500, so no need to keep holding it! The first few runs were brake boosting. It just spun the tires. Using launch control or just flooring it got the quickest time
@@BrosFOURRSpeed 2500 revs is too low for a good launch, the revs must go until 3500 to get a decent launch. But being RWD it is going to spin up its tyres anyway, having traction on is just going to kill the power when the wheels lose traction. The launch control program should be able to control all these🤔
Anyway when you get your car please remove the soft limiter. You can do it with some ECU tinkering. Goddamm noise regulations 😂
@@chanuka_rulez8343 There are no settings to adjust the rpm launch but traction was off in the last few tests when you see “launch control” pop up. So traction off and launching it stops at 2-2500. I agree higher would be better but unless the actual production cars are different this is what you get! I’m buying a manual so it’ll be different!

@@BrosFOURRSpeed when I change to normal or sport the motor temperature is less than half but in sport mode its looks like it’s is very high! It’s that normal or there is a difference in the temperature lecture when I change to normal or enhanced?

@@BrosFOURRSpeed no doubt, those Brigdstones have to go! I had a 350z way back and the Bridgestone's were a problem then as well. I am not sure why Nissan continues their relationship with them as they have had nothing but complaints for years

@@abdulazizalmnsor2237 It was done OFF camera because Nissan would not allow them to post those #'s on their video because those #'s were NOT done with their S007 Tires.
Jason said this on a pod cast with Carmugen and Nissan told them to remove that video BECAUSE he said it in the video so the video was taken down.
In that video Jason said with better tires, the Z would keep up with the Zupra and the Mustang and not only did it keep up with them, but it beat them by .1 seconds in the 0-60 and ran a 12.05 @118 mph...
Problem is Nissan won't allow them to post because it was done on different tires.

@@ESKATEUK The point I was trying to make is that it could be EVEN FASTER by improving its efficiency to put available power down. Yes, I agree we've come a long way...my 1990 Nissan 300ZX (non-turbo) did 0-60 in 6.7 seconds but cost (in 2023 dollars) almost $70,000.
Honestly all it needs are Michelin pilot sports and it will do under 4 seconds. The OEM run flats are just okay, not great.

love the car but my bone stock 18 5.0 A10 performance pack has been 11.78 @119.6 on stock michelin 4s tires it is hard to beat for the money . 41k out the door new and i have 4100 miles on it now so its still like new .

2022 Supra can hit 3.8 stock. 400z just not quite as quick.

The new Z is pretty sick, but it's also heavier and has way more parts that can fail. I can hit mid 4 second times in my 370 and it's only got a couple of bolts ons and a tune. I know the new Z will obviously have upgrades as well, but it's hard to justify charging another 10 grand for a car that is barely an improvement over its predecessor in terms of performance. The Z seems like it's getting away from being an affordable tuner car and turning into a RWD Infiniti, which is a shame.
It was not built to be an improvement over its predecessor. It was built around its previous generations as the last Z to be ever made.
It just got the rs engine because nissan didnt want to design a new engine so they could keep the cost down.
A new design engine would have this car start at like $70k ...

How do you engage launch control?
I think it was just turning traction off and flooring the brake and gas. I have multiple full review videos of the new Z on the channel. I'm sure I showed it in one of them

@@missme9247 It was a bit finicky. But it’ll tell you on the dash if it’s engaged. If not you’ll just do a burnout. So it won’t hurt anything trying to
