10,000 Soviet troops up against 220 German troops defending a bridge. Made using the Men of War: Assault Squad mission editor. Like this mission? Download it now at: www.moddb.com/g...
nice battle, i like making these epic battles too... just spawning a bunch of stuff and watching them fight it out like some kind of war film.. in interactive 3D vision
It's amazing how in the beginning the Germans started out with machine guns, mortars, artillery, and good positions, winded up having rifles and insignifacant positions. they were however doomed from the start, and if the Russian deployed all the soldiers at once, the German would've won.
The Russian generals, above all Zhukov, made great strategic decisions. He never launched an attack untill he knew he could win by sheer power of numbers and overwhelming artillery and air support. Zhukov made sure he had plenty of reserves in both men, equipment, craft, supplies, etc. etc. Nothing like this idiotic commander who keeps attacking the Germans with tiny packets of men.
Gunishment, this is awesome! I liked it a lot more than the "epic bridge battle" because it's all infantry so it has a more humble and engaging feel to it. Does this game give you the option of following individual attacking units? If so, I'd like to request that in times similar to the first assault wave in this video, you follow attacking troops at ground level. It would be beyond intense. Thanks for making these - highly entertaining material, sir. MGs are the best.
@RetepTheEyeCandy When you play battles out in the editor the bodies and vehicles will never disappear. It's epic and the reason I never bother converting my battles to single player mission files.
if you want to get realistic "germans would have had tanks", the russians wouldnt of charged face first into MG fire. they would of sniped, flanked from the beggining, used planes, and used tanks. you don't throw away 10k men, even if youre russian.
honestly i liked the battle but it was incredibly unrealistic as both sides wouldve had tanks and artillery and the russians most definately would not have blindly charged over their fallen comrades bodies into the face of enemy gunfire, i would have to say you made it all rather one sided in terms of equipment.
220 gemans vs 10000 ussr troops the gemans win in my a point of veiw because the killed alot alot of ussr soldiers. and i think the gemans would have tanks
@MisterPat1911 Thanks man. There were actually no waypoints in this vid. It was all driven by the AI. When they take incoming fire, they react and move forward.
@MrJamespj Yep, add a delay to the waypoint or if you want to be fancy add a trigger/condition to it. I suggest reading up on this at the GEM editor forums.
Hi awesome videos, quick question, how do you add the delay to make the enemy attack in waves? I know my way around waypoints and triggers a bit, is it as simple as adding a waypoint with a delay? Thanks mate!
In the beginning of the German invasion Stalin made a long defensive line that completely fell apart in the attack and the germans just plowed through the border. The tactics used after were literally wait until the germans screw up (which they did, luckily). Stalin then decided to just be on the complete offensive no matter what his generals told him so their troops were cut down. after that Stalin just kept himself out of the war tactically.
this is what i learned germans have outstanding defensive americans have great assault japanese have great sneak attacks and the russians have brute force also the british have awesome strategies
In fact, in the 50's and 60's the men had pretty much their pick of the women because their number were so few. Soviet women complained how spoiled the men were.
When all commotion calm and noises silent, it's shadow and dust, dust to dust.
Flat ground trench battles would be amazing Great work
Note that this is a video game, not a WW2 documentary.
1 tank, just one would've changed the whole scenario. Awesome battle as usual woo!
The way you had everything positioned is somewhat like d-day.... i think it was like3-5 mg42's that covered over 300m of beach for a REALLY long time

You should do one like this with only panzer I/II's, as they are easily penetrated by concentrated hmg fire

you should have used the officer's flare gun for artillery fire, but good job :D
wow that was epic, great battle keep posting man ^^
This was very fun to watch. thanks!

@timawesome4 This was all about the MG42, MG34, and sniper usage.
good stuff dude enjoyed it
that was a very sad day for the germans may they rest in peace
Does any know if a battle such as this happened with the Germans and the Russian's during the final days of the war in Europe?
when he says last 50 i called that bliff he means last 12 right
How do you keep the bodies? In a normal match they vanish. Is this to do with the editor, or a setting?
agreed speaking of finest hour i just orderd it i might do it
Sad thing is, this is the tactics that Stalin used to win many of the city battles.
will this mod work on an amd athlon x2 II 2.80 4gb ram DDR2 nvidia geforce 9500 GT
how long does it take you to make these battles?
You might consider reading an actual history of the Eastern Front to discover the absurdity of this.
the germans needed a snug
I saw a mortar in the first part.

1:00 wtf is that noise
My mic was terrible back then. It was making crazy sounds
men u have to use more your artillery ;)

i left out the r in germans XD
real life isnt that simple.

@shmity100 A few hours in the editor usually, followed by a bit of play testing. The bigger the battle though, the longer it tends to take.

awesomeface! but why no more mortars, snipers, or housing positions? loved it truly, just wondering why not. :/ (perplexed face)
Thanks- Expected the massive Red Army assaults over the Dnieper. THAT would be a video game. I'll take a closer look
You should have reinforce the bridge troops when most of them died, holding town square wasn`t a good idea.
100 rushens on a wall 100 stupid rushens take a gun pass it around 99 stupid rushens on the wall
By the way, you should try to reenact the Battle Of Stalingrad from CoD Finest Hour.
how many germans and how many Russians were killed and how many were at the start
Germans would have won if actual placements where made it would have been a easy german victory.
don't take control man the russians would have the bridge at the end of part 2
You have to do that again only a bridge they can't flank
You sounded so disappointed when the Germans lost.
well they did manage to take most of the russians
i was waiting for a flamethrower to explode
i really want the russians to win
ah, gotcha. i undermastand
Unless your Stalin...
fantastic video
grate video
