    The wheel pans are a signature of an SR22. One of the cool things this airplane has. They look very retro and it’s a really distinctive feature.

    Best looking SR22 I've seen! So many great features that I wasn't aware of, such as the ice light. I had a Saratoga II TC and was flying over the NC mountains in February and had to keep shining a flashlight on the wing to ensure that no ice was forming. Very distracting.

    Al Firstly GREAT VIDEO - as from 1 pilot to another I appreciate the time and trouble it takes to do this , so really well done. I though have 1 HUGE CONSIDERATION in buying this plane ( like the senior captain also mentioned below ) if one spends 1 million dollars you really HAVE TO HAVE pressurization! For the same amount of money one can buy an used eclipse 550 Jet which has an extremely low fuel consumption of 50 gallons per hour / is fully pressurized / AND CRITICALLY IMPORTANT FLYS at over 40 000 ft, so it is well above the weather. Besides one flys at twice the speed of 350 knots. Of course this is comparing a brand new product vs a 15 year old product, yet with all the avionics updated the luxury of a second hand jet and all the benefits mentioned I MAY go for an ECLIPSE WITH ONE SINGLE EXCEPTION SAFETY!!!!!!!!! HERE they have been very clever with the parachute system and that swings it because nothing an make up for this safety feature. To date over 173 persons have been saved with their parachute system. In conclussion i agree with the former comment - they must put pressurization in and weather radar for the same price of 1 million dollars - their really is a gaping hole for these 2 factors. On a positive note though I still think your aircraft is awesome from performance/style/ease of avionics and if it is not a vital business tool one does not really want to be flying in bad weather in anycase. WELL DONE TO A METICULOUS VIDEO AND YOUR ATTENTION TO DETAIL - I WOULD FLY WITH YOU ANYTIME BECAUSE I KNOW YOU WILL PUT SAFETY FIRST!!!!!!!!!!

    • @speedomars
      @speedomars 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is no NEW pressurized piston aircraft for $1m bucks. In fact, the ONLY pressurized piston single on the market is the Piper M350 and it starts around $1.4m. If you want pressurization ya gotta get into the $2m range with a jet-prop or a light jet.

    • @al.waterloo
      @al.waterloo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much for the comments and discussion! It is so much fun putting these together. Its great! Hope our opportunity to fly together comes to light one day. I understand there are definitely different options out there that are cheaper and much more airplane. The value proposition is just a bit different on those airplanes versus for the Cirrus and the typical owner. Keep in mind that many owners only fly 100-150 hours a year and have other commitments so staying current in a bigger airplane is a big deal. There are also a lot of fringe areas that we don't often associate aircraft values like parts, warranty, service and training networks and OEM support.

    A few tips. 1. keep one key set of fob, cargo and ignition key on one ring, all other keys on another ring. this prevents damaging the dash area when using the ignition key. the other keys are rarely used also. 2. put your misc items in the baggage area like chocks, extra oil, sump tester and rags, spare headsets, oxygen kits and manuals in a snap-lock plastic storage box to keep them from rolling around and you can place the tow bar behind that bin also to keep it still is.gd/e7KKcH

Could a ski tube be built into the sr22 at the time of manufacture or added later? Just asking...haven't received a response from the cirrus web site yet!

    My goal is to start my flight training Q-1 2021. Should a student pilot learn in an SR-22? Oh ya, what a beautiful plane your flying. I'd throw some gold in it for the Lakers.

    • @al.waterloo
      @al.waterloo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Mark! Definitely, a student can learn in an SR22. There are different ways to learn but there are a couple specific approaches to learning in a Cirrus. If you follow them you should have the outcome you want!

    • @ssn608
      @ssn608 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s almost cheating to use a Cirrus for primary flight training. It’s so easy to maintain altitude and attitude during steep turns, for one thing...roll in, trim back for a count of three and “let go “... it flies like it’s on rails....

    • @al.waterloo
      @al.waterloo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You cannot add 8 &9 into the transponder but I think its just the functionality and logic of the keypad.

    • @colinpotter7764
      @colinpotter7764 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Al Waterloo it looks as if you can, it would make sense for them not to be blue to save a wrong input attempt. Probably on the next software update, I’ll suggest it to them!

    Will Cirrus ever get a modern engine with FADEC like the Diamond airplanes do and use Jet A?

    • @wayneco
      @wayneco 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Wouldn’t that be awesome. I flew a 2018 built C172 on Monday that uses Jet-A, being a diesel vehicle lover it gave me warm fuzzies.

    • @al.waterloo
      @al.waterloo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can understand why! How was it?

    • @al.waterloo
      @al.waterloo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can say from my personal experience at Cirrus that we are always looking forward to add new technologies and make what we have better!

    • @speedomars
      @speedomars 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Europeans are big on Jet-A because they can't get 100LL. There is nothing special about the Diamond diesel engines. Rotax also has FADEC computer mixture control. Cirrus eliminated the prop control. All you need to do is control your mixture. I have flown Rotax planes with so-called FADEC management. They overheat at altitude due the computer getting the mixture wrong most of the time. Better to manually control rich and lean running.

  • @seniorcaptain6117
    @seniorcaptain6117 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Having flown this aircraft for 4 yrs ,being a 737 captain ,and based on my 25 years of experience i must say that Cirrus aircraft is an excellent machine if you don’t intend to fly anywhere anytime. That is Cirrus has 2 huge limitations,one is its service ceiling of 24000 ft,making impossible to avoid bad weather under certain circumstances (therefore limiting its use) ,secondly,no carrying a weather radar ,( i understand that is a matter of space and weight,but if you are to fly IFR,no being limited by the weather conditions ,weather radar is a must..thirdly,not being pressurized (everybody must admit that flying with an oxigen mask could be fun for couple of times but it is a serious hassle).So when you first purchase a Cirrus as i did (like the one in this video),you firmly believe that you have an aircraft to manage in almost all situations,which turns out not to be true for all the issues forementioned.Taking into consideration its price (nearly 1 million dollars with all the extras) doesn’t cover my expectations (that it did at first but you always want to fly farther away and not being constricted by the weather.
    So if your plan is flying under relatively good weather within the US territory that is your plane. But if you take into account the flying time,and all weather conditions you might consider purchasing a jet (i know i know is more expensive,maybe one second hand could do though),but jet A is much cheaper,it takes you much faster,and much higher ,avoiding all adverse weather,you don’t need O2 masks.The downside is maybe the maintenance,it is much more expensive than a reciprocating engine one but if you can afford it it is worth it. Cirrus is a very confortable plane i have enjoyed very much but it came to a point time that the money invested in it doesn’t allow you to fly at a certain destinations. Fly safe¡¡

    • @al.waterloo
      @al.waterloo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your thoughts. Its all about adopting the mentality fo the aircraft one is flying. The Cirrus does a lot of things right but its not the solution for situation like you pointed out.

    • @speedomars
      @speedomars 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are misinformed. Cirrus single engine prop planes are NOT pressurized but the turbo version as shown in this video has a ceiling of FL25. The SR22T is indeed a cross country IFR machine far more capable than anything else in the piston prop space. It has FIKI deicing, onboard weather information including radar maps via NEXRAD. It also has both cannula and masks sourcing from onboard/built-in oxygen supply. The crew management system also has an auto-descent feature if the pilot becomes incapacitated in the flight levels. If you want to fly higher and with pressurization in a Cirrus then you need to look at the single-jet-engine VLJ Cirrus SF50.

      Just go buy a Piper PA46-350 and 2 of the 3 must haves the 737 pilot listed will be met. All it won't do is go above 25,000 feet. At least you will have pressurization and not have to wear uncomfortable oxygen masks and you will have onboard weather radar that is instant and not satellite weather which is 20 minutes old data that will get you killed!

    • @speedomars
      @speedomars 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@oneshotjohn1 The Piper Malibu and Matrix are laughably overpriced and antiquated. If you are gonna spend anything like $2m on a plane get the Cirrus SF50 light jet. It's ceiling is FL28. And it also has an all airframe chute. The panel is unique to the plane too, Garmin created a customize GTC 580 with three touchscreen controllers. It has the same realtime XM weather product as other aircraft in its class (the radar for it is in the nose instead of hanging from the wing in a giant pod as in the Pipers). The Nexrad weather is 5 to 8 mins max delay not 20 minutes and you can also get realtime XM weather in a Cirrus SR22 if you think you need it.

      So what you are saying is...if you want to eat an orange, don’t buy an Apple!
      The SR22 is not competing with or in the same category as a private jet. Not in performance, range, price, or hardly anything.
      For a single engine piston it is awesome.

    If you buy a purple airplane, I don't think you are thinking about resale value. You are really limiting the potential buyers. I guess if YOU really like it, and want to keep it forever...go for it. Personally, I like the older Cirrus paint jobs. They seemed to be more classy. Also...at 7:00, what's up with the seal around the wingtip landing light? It looks really sloppily done.

      The purple is actually a really fun color and its been more popular than you think! When you get up close to it you'll see why. The other thing is that a certain person will definitely like it, the next buyer will love it too, they just gotta like purple! I'll take a look at 7:00. Thanks for the heads up.

    Hey Al, watched the whole video also.. Cirrus really is the "Porsche" of small aircraft. I do have a product question. When will Cirrus make a pressurized version of the SR22T? Currently, in US general aviation. Piper's M350 is the only pressurized piston aircraft sold in the US. I think Cirrus could have a goldmine if they came up with a pressurized version of the SR22T. In my eyes it is a gaping hole in product offerings for Cirrus. Thanks.

    Do you really fly around with your airplanes logbooks in the baggage compartment? I have never heard of anyone doing this as usually you want to keep the logbooks in a very safe and secure place where nothing can happen to them.

    • @al.waterloo
      @al.waterloo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would not recommend an owner flying around with their logbooks. Definitely want to keep them safe. We operate our airplanes a little differently. Since we are flying airplanes for only a few months and typically swap them with others, its important we keep them with the airplane. Once the airplane is delivered its important an owner keeps the logbooks safe.
