Hi Steve. We have completed Your Fat lad NC 767. WOWSERS what an adventure. I am shattered but feeling great. WE had FIVE seasons in one day. Summer, autumn, winter, spring and WHAT THE SWEET JESUS IS THIS. haha. All added to the adventure. Wowser happy mileage my friend Keep safe. From my self and my missus Paula. Yup she said yes Eventually :)
Hey David congratulations to you both that's great news, I am so pleased all went well and that you had a great adventure. The weather can be a BIT changeable up there yes 🤣 it's quite an achievement when finished isn't it. Well done and all the very best for the future to the pair of you, stay safe.
@@Steve-Clark-1200rt Thank you Steve. I am looking at 6 full 64Gb Memory cards. So our WUMM-NC767 will be a while. Keep safe and wowser mileage my friend.
I like your presentation ( 1,2and3 so far ) with fairly detailed route descriptions and good photography, to say nothing of the commentary.! !Lovely weather for some of the route - just like whenI did it on the bike 2 years ago but I was soked and did'nt see a thing in the constant rain and mist. Had done it twice before in car and camper ,but we've made exactly the same comments each time as you and Dec about JohnO'Groats...." What a Dump "!!!! ( I only went to it again because it was onthe route!!!!) Of course I'lll have to do it again next year IN GOOD WEATHER
Cheers Damian as you've done it you'll know you've gotvthe best to watch yet as it gets better and better as the route continues down the west coast. And you'll see we didn't get great weather all the time in future eps. Really appreciate the comment fella and enjoy the rest of the series and I really hope you get to ride it next year. Stay safe my friend. 👍🏍
We've just returned from our NC500 tour, I watched this series numerous times and stayed in the Ben Loyal, funnily enough in room 9. Food was great, staff were great, scenery is great, thanks for the recommendation Steve. keep up the good work with the videos.
Took your advice and went round the coast anti clockwise last weekend. What a breath taking view coming up the hill at Helmsdale and caught first sight at the cliffs all along the east coast you could't have if you were coming the opposite way. Also I was very lucky it was a sunny day and could see for over 10 miles!
Hi Steve. I am proper lock down blues now. Just re visiting THE FL NC767 Trip Adviser. Blowing the blues away. To update you on my, Will You Marry me NC767 trip. The little Fiesta is rigged up. New tyres and brakes. Vango 350 plus cooking gear. Looks like waiting until next year for the trip. A big thank you for your route notes. The missus still seems unaware of my plans for the ring on her finger. I will keep you posted. Happy days Steve.. 👌👌👌
Nice to hear from you David and thanks for the update. Hopefully now a vaccine is on the way we can all get back to normal soon and you can crack on on one of the best routes you will ever take. Stay safe fella
Cracking video as always Steve. Back in 1980 I rode from Bordeaux to St Malo in torrential rain the whole way. The following morning I got off the ferry in Portsmouth with clear blue skies and warm sunshine. I absolutely nailed the ride over to Bristol to get to the M5 for the trip back north. It was early, the roads were empty. I stopped at a layby overlooking Bath and seriously considered turning round. It is without doubt the best ride I've had in my life, and I don't know if I'll ever top it, but that's the beauty of touring. You never know what tomorrow will bring. I'm looking forward to the next episode. I love your choice of tunes as well by the way.
Pity about the weather Steve but still good loving it we are doing it next may love the way you keep us updated on your way as to what roads you are on thanks look forward to the next one
You were brave (and a bit silly) going up to the sign on your bike. I chickened out of trying it, and to be honest, I’m delighted that I did after watching what happened to you! Well done for not dropping it.
I hope you bought Dec a pint for that save :D Yes all that rain reminds me of when we went, I guess if it's sunny at all then you're lucky. Can't wait for the next episode. tcrsm8
I live in Caithness and am used to the weather but that day was truly awful. Well done for remaining cheerful despite the conditions. Stay safe for the remainder of your trip.
One of the better NC500 videos 😁👍 slow down next time and take in more of the scenery and beaches you missed this time. We’re in Portskerra/Melvich if you need a brew. 😎👍
Enjoying your video Steve, I have done the NC500 3 times now, and at some point you get the rain, but when the sun shines ( and it does) What a place to ride a bike. Keep the videos coming.
Completely agree it's pot luck on the weather mate, think if I was to make the trip up there I'd stick to the West coast, as it's a long way from the Midlands...I've done 4 'tours' in the last 2 years...couple in Spain, and a couple of trips into Wales and each time I've got a soaking...at least once! July last year the whole country was 'suffering' a heat wave of +30'C except Exeter / Taunton area that day, where a squall had stalled....my Oxford Raingear was strapped neatly on the rear seat...while I was on the M5 getting soaked as were all of us that boarded the ferry in Plymouth that day! Thankfully, I had my waterproof liner in my RST Adventure II suit...that smelt like a wet Labrador for the next 3 days. Oh, and anyone that has Weise Waterproof Gloves with that fancy 'Hipora' lining..... Don't hold your breathe....I think mine are still drying out! Certainly, I was never able to use them the rest of the holiday. RS Stunt gloves (£25) step forward you're going to have to do the next 1K miles plus some....
Hi Paul remind me not to tour with you lol sounds like you have rain clouds strapped to the back of your bike ha ha joking aside we are hoping to do a little tour around Wales in a bit. I find the Oxford wet gear really good but won't be investing in the gloves you mention lol . Thanks for watching Paul and taking the time to comment 👍 ride safe mate
Unfortunate with the weather Steve but as you well know you can have four seasons in one day up there, having said that there’s no where in the world like it ( I would be biased ). I quite enjoy the east coast when the roads are quiet you can make progress nicely 😉 Look forward to day 3
Great video Steve. I rode the NC500 in May. Like you, it rained all day from Inverness to Thurso. Day 2 was glorious sunshine all the way to Applecross. Threw it down on Day 3 riding over the Bealach an Bah.
Shame about the weather Steve cracking video, when I did earlier this year we road to Wick from Ullapool. The digs we had booked where not nice at all so we carried on riding back to Inverness. That was all around the Coast taking in John 'O Groats that was one tiring long day. Enjoying your vids as usual thank god you saved the bike between you. (Morphy) Steve
Hey Steve, nice video and new sub..👍 Done that ride last year, stayed in same hotel in tongue, in fact the same room ... Off tomorrow with mates up through Glencoe and Skye for a few days riding around...bliss 🏍🏍🏍 😁
That brought back memories Steve , me and my mate up there in May , lashed down with rain, sleet and snow , we couldn't believe it and the following week was sunny all week, typical. Scenery just brilliant, with the best to come, roll on next vlog.
Brilliant Steve , great views to be had up the coast sorry your visit to Scotland was a bit waterlogged to be fair weather had been rubbish near everywhere just of late , I did a Europe trip in May it rained for 5 days out the 7 😔 although as you know Scotland's known for a bit of rain lol , great save by the way 👌 Steven
Thanks for doing this series Steve I’m enjoying watching it whilst stuck indoors, I was meant to be riding the nc500 at the end of this month but all has had to be cancelled now, and a big thumbs up 👍 to your mate for catching the RT 👍 I had to also catch one 2 up @ the Chunnel last July not the lightest of things lol ride safe 🏍
Hi Steve good footage mate. Myself and two friends did that route two weeks ago. We did it over five days and every day it absolutely pissed down so much so the roads flooded. We ended up missing some of the route because it was so torrential. Keep it up mate all the best.
Thanks for watching Ian really sorry to hear about your trip mate but hey gives you an excuse to do it again maybe eh, I just love Scotland but the weather is what it is and a gamble when you go. Ride Safe friend

Hi Steve. Sadly I'm not a bike owner (despite quite liking the idea of a Vespa, think the mod lifestyle appeals to me 😂) but I'm a proper car / Petrolhead guy. I just wanted to say thank you for making these video's. I'm flying to Geneva on Monday hiring a car and driving the Grimsel, Furka and Susten Passes staying at Innertkirchen at the start of the Susten. I've wanted to go to Switzerland ever since I saw Top Gear 'Greatest Driving Road' episode back in 2007. Why its taken me so long to get there I will never know!?! . But I've watched a lot of car videos shot on these passes over the last few year but to be fair the best I have ever seen are the ones from your 2017 Switzerland tour. I have been watching them a lot as a reference point. So thank you for taking the time and energy to put these videos together. They do inspire you to go and drive or ride. Your like the Micheal Palin of the motorcycle world. Cheers fella and all the best. Si. 👍👍😎
A massive thank you Si for taking the time to write such a great comment I really appreciate it my friend. I can tell you now you are going to have one amazing trip fella, the video's I posted of my Switzerland trip do give you a good insight to the beauty of the passes but seeing it 'LIVE' will blow you away. Hello Steve, may I ask where to get the map print-outs that you show in the video? They look great for navigation, and without too much unnecessary clutter.
Hi Simon in an episode a bit later in this series (Ep 6) we get torrential rain and I can honestly say even tho in the episode at the time thought rain had come through the Oxfords it hadn't. They kept me bone dry and would recommend without a doubt.
Dek, you ought to be playing Cricket for England with reactions like that mate! Good save between ya's! Lucky there Steve! I know it's not good for filming, but I think once you get over the fact it's going to rain all day, you can, as you did, still appreciate the beauty of the land / seascapes, which if you can get to that frame of mind, makes the day so much more enjoyable, 'don't sweat what you can't change' as they say. Is that Oxford Rain gear Steve? Same combo I use if it is...yellow jacket over black trousers. What time of years the best time to go Steve, most seem to say May...do you always go same sort of time? Bit concerned about the midges...obviously, the weather no one can predict. Looking forward to the rest in the series mate.
Thanks for watching Paul and for taking the time to comment, Dek is my guardian angel lol and well spotted on the Oxford rain gear you are spot on fella. As far as when to go think its just pot luck as far as weather is concerned as it changes so quick its unbelievable. We went mid July my friend

Ha ha yeah scary moment and thank goodness for Dec being there as he saved me, he's a great friend. Thanks for watching fella.

One of the better NC500 videos 😁👍 slow down next time and take in more of the scenery and beaches you missed this time. We’re in Portskerra/Melvich if you need a brew. 😎👍
Thanks for watching and the kind offer of a brew.
Great videos series fella, really enjoyable and honest footage. Can’t half rain up there…
Your not kidding about the rain fella pleased your enjoying them and thanks for watching.
Enjoying your video Steve, I have done the NC500 3 times now, and at some point you get the rain, but when the sun shines ( and it does) What a place to ride a bike.
Keep the videos coming.
Thanks for watching Peter and we did get some sunshine but however the weather Scotland is an amazing place to tour.
Nice trip enjoying every episode thanks
And thank you for watching my friend
I quite enjoy the east coast when the roads are quiet you can make progress nicely 😉
Look forward to day 3
Thanks Norrie as you know it just gets better and better from here my friend
Great video Steve. I rode the NC500 in May. Like you, it rained all day from Inverness to Thurso. Day 2 was glorious sunshine all the way to Applecross. Threw it down on Day 3 riding over the Bealach an Bah.

I just wanted to say thank you for making these video's.
Steve Clark we went on a bike 2017 and 2018 up the West coast and back down the centre )different routes). It stayed good the whole time. Didn’t care if it was NC500 or not. We went where it looked the best. Great vid though
