Congratulations, you just witnessed the greatest vocalist alive. He’s from Kazakhstan, sings in 15 different languages (speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently, some English, and a little Mandarin), plays 8 musical instruments and is currently working on his PhD in music. His debut album released in China went platinum in 37 seconds. He has fan clubs in 180 countries. He’s been training since the age of 5, has a 6-8 octave range (depending on who you ask) has absolute pitch, and is an amazingly humble man. His mother is an opera singer and his father is a singer and producer. He sings every genre (even raps) He has many recent performances, but I would highly recommend "Sinful Passion" 2018 and then "Stranger" 2021, "Ikanaide" 2021, "Adagio" 2017, "Ave Maria". Each performance will leave you stunned.
Dimash always gives 110% in every performance. Don't worry about offending anyone by praising Dimash. He baffels fans if every genre of music. It doesn't matter what style of music you prefer, Dimash will amaze you with his pure talent. There simply isn't a more versatile artist alive. You've scratched the surface. Dimash has become a worldwide phenomenon (fan clubs in 160 countries) as a result of his youtube video performances. He has filled arenas in places like London, Moscow, New York, Prague, Dubai, Belarus, Dusseldorf, Sochi, Kiev, and China. He sings everything from pure opera to complicated rap and he does it all brilliantly and often combines several genres into one performance. A trip through the land of Dimash is well worth taking and one you will never regret. For a borderline metal song, check out "Go Go Power Rangers" sometime. It's not a high priority video nor one of his most popular among his hardcore fans (called Dears, because they are so dear to him!) but it rocks loudly and has appealed to other metal heads. Better to start your journey with "Sinful Passion," "Stranger," "Olimpico," "Across Endless Dimensions," and others recommended on this thread----although, as a metal head, you might also love some his up-tempo Kazakh traditional songs like "Elim Menin." So much great music, so little time!
This song is a pearl of the French songbook is a Canadian-French cyberpunk-rock opera, called Starmania, written in 1976 by Michel Berger (French) and with lyrics by Luc Plamondon (Canada) and was immortalized in the voices of Daniel Balavoine, Diane Dufresne and Grégory Lemarchal. The theme of the song is depression and, in this 2021 version (DImash Digital Show), Dimash faithfully and brilliantly presents a sentimental and melancholic interpretation! As the singing decisions follow the original structure of the song to show the psychological instability of the distressed character: From the chest voice to the head voice and then the falsetto, the author aimed to show a broad need to overcome a long of despair and need to reach a very high perspective! Dimash, currently in his concerts, dedicates this song to his friends and acquaintances who departed this world!
There are several other well known songs from Starmania rock opera. There's an entire album. Check out Le blues du businessman. Also I really like the song Un Garcon pas comme les autres. Even Celine Dion has sung at least one of them. Just search on Starmania mix on YT. There are other great songs there too.

He always goes this hard! Honestly, this isn't even his best performance of this song (IMO). You only witnessed about 15% of what his voice can do. He will blow your mind every time.

Lovely reaction. Your emotional reaction - all of us who are Dears have had, and continue to have, that exact reaction, especially the first time hearing him do what he does. If you have ever played tennis or squash or baseball, when you hit the ball dead centre, you can feel it, really feel it through your hand, your arm...it's totally different to striking the ball on any other part of the racquet or the bat and the ball does exactly what you want it to....that 's what Dimash's voice does - it hits you dead centre and you feel it in a way that almost defies description. There are so many songs that I could say please react to [in time, you will see them yourself as you go down the Dimash rabbit hole] so I will limit it to 3 : Stranger [epic], Ikanaide, Tokyo Jazz Festival [sung in almost flawless Japanese] and Durdaraz 2021 [think you will really like the music in this].

It's so fun for us "Dears" (that’s what Dimash calls his fans because he loves us as a dear family) to see how people react to him.
Some info about Dimash. He is born in May 24 1994. He is from Kazakhstan and has been music schooled sense 5 years old and told the teacher that the piano was out of tune! He sings about 7 octaves or so! No one knows he is still learning. He sings higher than the piano can go! He also writs and compose own songs, plays bunch of instruments including Dombra there own Kazakh instrument that has a sound you can’t believe and onley 2 strings! He also sings in about 14 (Kazakh, Turkish, Usceck, Russian, Ukranian, Serbien, Bulgarian Chinese , Italien, Spamish, French, English, German, Japanese ) languages and speaks 3 so far (Kazakh, Russian and English).
Dimash has an excellent education: he graduated from the College of Music with a degree in Opera Singing, university of arts in the specialty "Estrada and jazz vocals", and on June 18, 2020, he completed a master's degree in Composition. He graduated with a degree in opera from the music school at the University of Aktobe (2014), a degree in pop/jazz from the National Arts University in Nur Sultan (2018), just completed his Master's degree in composition (June 2020) and have started his PhD.
He have done some contests in his life but the one I think got the worlds intension is "The Singer" (Allso called "I am a singer" or "Singer") from China in 2017. The Singer is a program for established Chinese singers to face off against each other invites only in a competition where votes were cast by an audience of 500.
Dimash Qudaibergen was a last-minute inclusion (a 'dark horse'). But his performance of 'SOS D'un Terrien En Detresse' electrified the audience, his fellow competitors and the viewers who numbered in the billions (this program was one of the most-watched in China and outside).
They also got him the nickname "Imported little brother" the day after the show. They also had to get bodyguard for Dimash do to the famous over night both in China and also the world. Dimash wasn’t really prepared for that. He had come to China at 22 years young man by him self and didn’t know the language. They hade contracted him for 2 shows because they didn’t think he cold go further than that. He didn’t think they would like him. So he was nervous this performers that he had also to start the show with. But they hade to change that do to his famous over night.
Dimash got many new friends from this show and he said at some point he learned a lot from it to.

The best moment in this show was just after Dimash started thanking everyone and saw his father there. He didn’t know he was there. Just after they got out of that room Dimash turns to his father and asks if he did good! When Dimash was gonna go in to the other contestants he again turned to his father and asked him if he done good! That’s the kind of man he is humble, loving and respectful.

Gloria Wu's channel has the back-story about the song that is so sad and from a life story about a boy losing his parents in an awful way. Also you get to hear how Dimash sounds like then loosing his voice the day of the show!!! When he went on he didn’t know if he could sing. Looking close at the other contestants they where so worried about him. He lost his voice again after. Li Jian another contestant bought him a very very expensive Chinese medication for him so he could get better soon!

Episode 10 : 'Unforgettable Day' In Kazakh and I think some translation in Chinese to. If I remember correct he wrote the music to this one when he was 19 years old and lyrics by Oral-kosai Baisengir, who was a poet/lyricist father of a friend of Dimash. Also in this show another contestant "Terry Lin" that was about 51 years young here he considered Dimash a dear friend at this point. But Dimash started telling them al he was his father around episode 9 I think!! That is a big respect and love from his part of the world to call him! Terry was gladly accepting it. They are still that close and also invites each other to there concerts and sometimes singing this song in duet to. They sang it in Jackie Chang movie festival in 2019 and Jackie was choked in how good they were. Terry was known as an alien before Dimash and they have similar vocals to.

He didn’t win the competion they say its because he wasn’t Chinese. But I don’t know if that’s right or not! They change the rules next year. But he got the most out of it and was most known after this. Got lots of awards and other things to. So he won the audience and the Chinese people.

I subscribe to your channel because you have just discovered the holy grail of music, the best voice in the world, the phenomenon and genius of Kazakhstan, Dimash. I would have written two books about him and not one, hehehe. He is the best singer I have heard in my 61 years. Thank you for your great and authentic reaction to Dimash. He is from Kazakhstan and believe me, you’ve seen nothing at all. In my opinion you have discovered the best singer in the world. He currently has a vocal range of 7,7 octaves (C1(B0) - D8 off the piano) At least what he has shown us so far. He plays several instruments like piano, dombra (a kazach instrument), drums, marimba and more. He has classical as well as contemporary vocal training and sings in different genres from opera to pop, jazz, Kazakh folk, ballads and he even raps a bit. And often he skillfully mixes several genres in one song. And meanwhile in 13 languages. The latest song (from the Tokyo Jazz Festival in November 2021) is called Ikanaide and is in Japanese. But many of my favorite songs are in his native tongue. He is a nice, respectful and humble person. He respects people regardless of their original, religion or profession. He truly loves his homeland Kazakhstan and his people with all his heart and always shows it with pride in many of his songs, concerts and rare interviews. During his concerts in Dubai, Düsseldorf and Prague, before he performed his song War and Peace, he told the audience he loves all people in every country. And I absolutely believe this.

The gentleman at the end you see standing and clapping is a famous Russian/Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter Igor Krutoy. He has come out of retirement to work with Dimash. True masterpieces were created. He writes songs that only Dimash could sing with his vocal range, such as Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You’ll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It’s more like a father/son relationship. These last three songs are mind-blowing and will leave you speechless. I promise.

It took me a week to learn his last name!) Telling reactors about Dimash can be a bit tricky because if we describe Dimash honestly it sounds like an exaggeration, but as you saw, it's not! Yes, Dimash gives 100% in every performance! Other reactors have also said that Dimash would be a great metal singer! Dimash definitely has God-given talent, but he has also studied music since he was five years old, both classical and contemporary. “SOS d'un terrien en détresse” tells of an earthly being that is in distress and asking for help because he never felt well in his own skin, he better wants to be a bird to see the world in case it could be more beautiful when seen from above. Luc Plamadon wrote the lyrics of SOS about a very distraught young man who just lost his lover causing him extreme questioning of his own existence. Finally being by her lifeless body, he is able to let her go “in peace“ with the words ‘sleep, my child, sleep’. It is a part of an french Rock-Pop opera released in 1979: Starmania. One of the 5 most difficult songs in French language. Thanks to the guy who wrote you books! Please keep reacting to Dimash. He's probably the most versatile singer on the planet. And you'll be getting a lot more books from viewers when you listen to him.
Natural ability? Somewhat. Plus 22 years of hard work and excellent teachers. That vibrato is very carefully cultured using classical (opera) training. This was his breakout song that got him on the map in 2017 at the Chinese all-pro "I Am Singer" competition.
Sinful Passion in 2018 at Sochi, Love Is Like A Dream in 2019 at Moscow (both live and in Russian) and Ogni Pietra (Italian) on the big blue triangle stage, also live, are excellent starter songs.
But you might really like his music video Across Endless Dimensions that was made for a movie. The movie producers couldn't find anyone else who could sing it. It is a little bit metal style, so you might want to try it next.
Get good at captions and subtitles because it is in English maybe 10% of the time. For example, the Italian one usually needs the autotranslate->English setting. The ones from the Chinese show don't tend to have English subtitles, but Dimash has a lot of fans with language and tech skills, so then go search for a fan modified version with subtitles. If all else fails, there are generally translated lyrics on the lyrics web sites.

Yea, Dimash is on a different level of singing than most.
❤ Two things, in order of importance: 1: I think he always gives it his all. 2: Maybe watch / react to one of his metal performances?
2. *Durdaraz* -- Dimash does metal
As metal song performances go, Dimash's Durdaraz is... unusual (which is of course saying something), so let me explain its background at some length, starting with the tradition it comes from that perhaps ties an old Kazakh song genre to metal, at least in Dimash's mind and/or his band's.

Beyond the fact Dimash loves blending traditional Kazakh elements into his art, Dimash is from Western Kazakhstan, which may explain Dimash's cover of the Western Kui folk song Durdaraz, and its anchoring element of two Dombyra players who I bet (two tickets to a Dimash live concert) are following Western Kui rules:
> Western tokpe kuis reflect dramatic events, give very strong aggressive associations . These are composed according to its rules - a certain sequence of tone sets on the Dombyra neck.
I think the contemporary metal arrangement reflects Dimash's and/or his band's interpretation of "very strong aggressive associations".
Then again:

Dimash does also have a gentle soft side. And while Durdaraz is definitely metal it is also a bit, well, non-aggressive. Maybe tongue-in-cheek in some sense? Not about metal, which it is clearly deadly serious about. Instead whoever the song is about? Dunno. Maybe Party Cannon sensibilities? (Just kidding.) You decide!
As for the song's topic and Dimash's cover of it:

1. *"He gave it his all, the whole time"*
I recall reading, in the days after I first heard of him and watched a different performance of SOS, that it was thus for every performance of every song without exception. After watching him properly perform about 30 or so different songs (I'm excluding practice sessions and him just messing around with friends, but including multiple distinct performances of most of the songs), I can confirm that he has amazed me each time.
This was so, even when -- especially when -- he's under insane pressure. His Adagio in China's 2017 The Singer competition is a case study. He had come *last* in the preceding round (5th; Uptown Funk). By the rules had to come *first* with Adagio if he was to avoid dropping out of the competition. The performance is incredible (way more so than SOS imo). A few weeks later in the same competition he was under even greater pressure. He was due to sing a much loved Chinese song. But his voice failed that morning. A doctor warned him he must not push his voice if he was to avoid damaging his throat. I had personal reasons for crying over his Adagio but I think most people are just amazed. In contrast his Daybreak broke a lot of people.
In an interview during The Singer 2017 competition he was asked when he first decided he would be a singer. His answer? "At what age are our earliest memories? At the age of two? One? I'd say he's naturally inclined to always give it his all, and has been for at least 26 years. (He's 28.)

I got the tears too from you but at the beginning even tho I’ve seen the song maybe a 1,000 times. Dimash draws us “Dears” back again and again. You had to do your comparing because your new, but we know he’s the best. I think three songs and I knew. Each of his performances is better than the last. I don’t even know his best song. I listen to anything you do on Dimash. There are over 120 live performances. He has been busy since his career started at two years old according to Wikipedia before the age of michael Jackson who is his idol.
