The Singer is considered the toughest competition on the planet. For professionals only, by invitation, it is months of grueling eliminations to get to the final 13 weeks of televised eliminations and he was the youngest contestant in the finals 22, in its history. After his first appearance singing this 600,000 phone calls crashed Hunan tvs system ! He ran it all the way to the end and lost to a Chinese national in China. Go figure. Made millions of fans, however.

This competion you have moore about lower down here. His musicpartner as they call him is also from Kazakhstan and they say there names different becouse they dosent have them in China. Terry Lin that they wer talking about in the begining came also to this competion in episode 5 and they really become more then friends becous >terry was 51 years old then and Dimash started calling him DAD or Father and thats the highest respect from his country to call him!!! They are still that close!

It's so fun for us "Dears" (that’s what Dimash calls his fans because he loves us as a dear family) to see how people react to him.
Some info about Dimash. He is born in May 24 1994. He is from Kazakhstan and has been music schooled sense 5 years old and told the teacher that the piano was out of tune! He sings about 7 octaves or so! No one knows he is still learning. He sings higher than the piano can go! He also writs and compose own songs, plays bunch of instruments including Dombra there own Kazakh instrument that has a sound you can’t believe and onley 2 strings! He also sings in about 14 (Kazakh, Turkish, Usceck, Russian, Ukranian, Serbien, Bulgarian Chinese , Italien, Spamish, French, English, German, Japanese ) languages and speaks 3 so far (Kazakh, Russian and English).
Dimash has an excellent education: he graduated from the College of Music with a degree in Opera Singing, university of arts in the specialty "Estrada and jazz vocals", and on June 18, 2020, he completed a master's degree in Composition. He graduated with a degree in opera from the music school at the University of Aktobe (2014), a degree in pop/jazz from the National Arts University in Nur Sultan (2018), just completed his Master's degree in composition (June 2020) and have started his PhD.
He have done some contests in his life but the one I think got the worlds intension is "The Singer" (Allso called "I am a singer" or "Singer") from China in 2017. The Singer is a program for established Chinese singers to face off against each other invites only in a competition where votes were cast by an audience of 500.
Dimash Qudaibergen was a last-minute inclusion (a 'dark horse'). But his performance of 'SOS D'un Terrien En Detresse' electrified the audience, his fellow competitors and the viewers who numbered in the billions (this program was one of the most-watched in China and outside).
They also got him the nickname "Imported little brother" the day after the show. They also had to get bodyguard for Dimash do to the famous over night both in China and also the world. Dimash wasn’t really prepared for that. He had come to China at 22 years young man by him self and didn’t know the language. They hade contracted him for 2 shows because they didn’t think he cold go further than that. He didn’t think they would like him. So he was nervous this performers that he had also to start the show with. But they hade to change that do to his famous over night.
Dimash got many new friends from this show and he said at some point he learned a lot from it to.

The best moment in this show was just after Dimash started thanking everyone and saw his father there. He didn’t know he was there. Just after they got out of that room Dimash turns to his father and asks if he did good! When Dimash was gonna go in to the other contestants he again turned to his father and asked him if he done good! That’s the kind of man he is humble, loving and respectful.

Gloria Wu's channel has the back-story about the song that is so sad and from a life story about a boy losing his parents in an awful way. Also you get to hear how Dimash sounds like then loosing his voice the day of the show!!! When he went on he didn’t know if he could sing. Looking close at the other contestants they where so worried about him. He lost his voice again after. Li Jian another contestant bought him a very very expensive Chinese medication for him so he could get better soon!

Episode 10 : 'Unforgettable Day' In Kazakh and I think some translation in Chinese to. If I remember correct he wrote the music to this one when he was 19 years old and lyrics by Oral-kosai Baisengir, who was a poet/lyricist father of a friend of Dimash. Also in this show another contestant "Terry Lin" that was about 51 years young here he considered Dimash a dear friend at this point. But Dimash started telling them al he was his father around episode 9 I think!! That is a big respect and love from his part of the world to call him! Terry was gladly accepting it. They are still that close and also invites each other to there concerts and sometimes singing this song in duet to. They sang it in Jackie Chang movie festival in 2019 and Jackie was choked in how good they were. Terry was known as an alien before Dimash and they have similar vocals to.

He didn’t win the competion they say its because he wasn’t Chinese. But I don’t know if that’s right or not! They change the rules next year. But he got the most out of it and was most known after this. Got lots of awards and other things to. So he won the audience and the Chinese people.

The sybyzgy is a Kazakh sideblown flute traditionally played by shepherds and horse herders, made from apricot wood or the wood of mountain bushes. Length 600-650 mm. He’s gonna go far? 🤣🤣. He has fan clubs in 180 countries and yes he has an official TH-cam channel where you can find many performances and music videos of his. His debut album that was released in China went platinum in 37 seconds. He’s huge in Asia and Russia, and is becoming very popular Europe and the Americas. This was in 2017 and all of the contestants were professional singers, including Dimash. He’s been training for 23 years and holds a Master’s degree in composition and is currently working on his PhD. He has sang in 15 languages has a 7 octave range, and plays 8 musical instruments. He was 22 in this performance and is 28 now. He has sold out arenas on his last world tour, including Barclay’s Arena in NYC (2019).

📌Welcome! Who is Dimash Qudaibergen? (pronounced: Dee-mahsh Koo-deye-bear-ghen)
Dimash Qudaibergen was born on May 24, 1994, in Aktobe, Kazakhstan into musical royalty. Height: 1.91m; 6' 3'. Grandfather played professional dombra, grandmother was a teacher and sings.
His parents are Kanat Aitbayev and Svetlana Aitbayeva. Sveta studied classical singing, but she is not an opera singer. Both have long been known and loved by the people of Kazakhstan, are Honored Music Artists of Kazakhstan. Listen: th-cam.com/video/p71ot1uRZLQ/w-d-xo.html
According to Kazakh tradition, he was raised by his grandparents (Mama and Papa) and for a long time he kept his parents as his brother ans sister in law. They all live together in one house.
Dimash said: “Open my heart, you will find music. If you open my brain you will find music. Music is my life."
He has been training in music since he was 5 years old, has a perfect pitch. He is university-educated with degrees in piano, classical/opera, contemporary music, pop, and jazz with a major in vocal. Dimash also completed a Broadway musical masterclass and has completed his Master's with a concentration in Composition. He graduated with honors’. He has composed 12 of his own songs so far and and is currently working on his doctorate. We have to call him soon Dr. Dimash Qudaibergen. 😃
Dimash did not fit the traditional image of a singer in Kazakhstan and was criticized. Even his voice teacher forbade him to sing in falsetto ( Interview with his voice teacher - th-cam.com/video/V7hkcKYAnhg/w-d-xo.html ) ... but he was not deterred, won many national and international competitions.
In 2016, Dimash turned down the offer of the National Opera in Astana because he wanted to go his own way ... He created his own genre: neoclassical combined with classical, folklore and other styles such as pop, rock, R&B and jazz. We laypeople say 'Popera'. 😃
Dimash is independent and has full artistic control over himself. He founded his own company named Dimash Ali.
In 2017, Dimash surprised everyone in China. He opened the eyes of his critical compatriots. Today Dimash is a 'cultural ambassador' for his country and a 'national treasure' (not an official title). He himself is a proud Kazakh and patriot.
Dimash plays at least 7 instruments, traditional dombra is a must in his family. He speaks Kazakh (mother tongue) and Russian without accent (second language in Kazakhstan), is learning English and Mandarin. He says dancing and Mandarin are difficult for him. So far, he sings in 13 languages, trains his voice for 3 hours every day... but Dimash said: "You don't need to know how hard I've worked, you just need to enjoy the results".
Experts consider Dimash to be a lyrical baritone with a typically long range. Dimash says of himself that he is a tenor. Some believe that he does not sing his high notes as a countertenor but as a natural soprano. He is the first singer to sing all 5 voices: bass, baritone, tenor, contralto, soprano.

Dimash's 'heavenly' vocal abilities, from bass to coloratura soprano, are not just limited to the tremendous range of over seven octaves and mixing of all musical genres, but it is the incredible command of his instrument, his voice and the emotional touch of people ... that brings us back again and again fascinates and surprises and again ... Such an assortment is a very rare gift and can only be achieved, maintained and perfected through tireless and never-ending training. Dimash cannot be pigeonholed.
Dimash always wanted to be on stage. As a young boy (3ys), he would often sit in the audience at his parents' performances and run on stage when they bowed at the end, and he would do the same.
In his childhood Dimash trained Taekwondo. The song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' 1978, well known in French-speaking countries) and is one of the most difficult songs to sing and in 2017 made Dimash a mega-star overnight.
That's how it all started: In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old). Foreign participants were actually forbidden at that time. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home.
The competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers and a mega-star was born overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood in front of his door.
The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to TH-cam ... and so we became Dimash's Dears.
The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. Won).

Dear Jittery-Jay. I found Dimash purely by chance. His voice, his stage presence and his personality obviously fullfilled some deeply hidden need in my life. There is no other way to explain my strong reaction to this artist. The first song (Opera2) gave me a shock, and the next (SOS) made everything unreal. It took weeks to recover from all the symptoms this experience caused me, but finally there remained only the addiction - and I'm thankful for that.

Great reaction 👍👍 The Singer , it was a Chinese show for highly respected singers to compete, Dimash was the only non Chinese singer invited because the producer saw him perform for the Chinese and Kazakh presidents and was very impressed. He is from Kazakhstan and was the youngest ever competitor in 2017 at only 22 years old. This was his first performance on the show and the audience went wild for him. When the show was broadcast on tv he had to have bodyguards for the first time in his life as he had become a superstar overnight in China. He is now a world class artist, turned 28 on the 24th of May but touring the world to sell out arenas with his solo concerts, he also performs in concerts with the famous Ukrainian/Russian composer Igor Krutoy, is constantly collecting awards, attends many prestigious red carpet events, film festivals and even models for lots of high end fashion houses. China’s show has professional singers, no amateurs. Dimash is the youngest singer there and the only non Chinese person for the first time ever. He was only supposed to be there for two episodes but the Chinese people loved him so, that he stayed there for all of the episodes which took four months. He came in second place and stayed in China for almost 3 years after the show was over. 😊

From my understanding, the song is from the perspective of a distraught man questioning his life as he kneels at the body of his lover who died from overdose/suicide. At the end of the song, he bids her to Rest In Peace by saying, Sleep, my child, sleep. He doesn’t commit suicide in spite of his questioning his existence.

You were right about Dimash wanting to do his song his way. Dimash has been singing this song since he was 15 yrs old. Dimash was introduced as a producer.Not very many producers in the pop world would want to do with this song the way Dimash wrote the vocals, instruments, cameramen and lighting. Dimash at 22 here has two masters and is in his doctorate. Nowadays he’s sung in 15 languages and plays 8 instruments.Because of at age 5 he had perfect pitch he could write music by note or use several methods of writing by ear. So after you go back and watch this again don’t just listen to that voice of which Dimash is a maestro of voice watch how the audience is used by the grips as a character in the song as Dimash himself is too but watch everything you see that Dimash either did it himself or collabed. I don’t think the producer liked Dimashs pauses or whole notes. Pop doesn’t do that. This is considered popopera.
Dimash only has 1 Master's degree in Music Composition, he has a BAchelors degree with a Major in Classical - Bel Canto opera, and a minor in Pop, and Jazz, he completed Master Classes in Broadway Musicals...

In this Singer competition, the audience members weren't just your "average Joe", they were people who had musical backgrounds, so they were in a better position to judge than some of the audiences in US singing competitions.
