  • I first met EJ on Hollywood Blvd in 2013. At the time, EJ was an 18-year-old homeless youth trying to survive while learning about this scary world we all live in.
EJ's real name is Daniel, and he is now 26 years old. EJ was his street name. It's very common for homeless people to not use their real names. Daniel has been off the streets for five years now. He was lucky. A good samaritan helped Daniel out with a place to live and a job to provide a purpose.
As of today, EJ's original video interview on Invisible People has 13,711,311 views and growing. It's our most-watched video! Many of you have asked countless times for an update on EJ, so I am glad Daniel and I were able to make this happen.

While Daniel's story is a happy one, there are tens of thousands of homeless youth that need help. Please click here invisiblepeople.tv/get-involved to tweet, call, or email your state and federal legislators to tell them ending homelessness is a priority to you.

    About Invisible People
There is a direct correlation between what the general public perceives about homelessness and how it affects policy change. Most people blame homelessness on the person experiencing it instead of the increasing shortage of affordable housing, lack of employment, childhood trauma, lack of a living wage, or the countless reasons that put a person at risk. This lack of understanding creates a dangerous cycle of misperception that leads to the inability to effectively address the root causes of homelessness.
We imagine a world where everyone has a place to call home. Each day, we work to fight homelessness by giving it a face while educating individuals about the systemic issues that contribute to its existence. Through storytelling, education, news, and activism, we are changing the narrative on homelessness.
This isn’t just talk. Each year, our groundbreaking educational content reaches more than a billion people across the globe. Our real and unfiltered stories of homelessness shatter stereotypes, demand attention and deliver a call-to-action that is being answered by governments, major brands, nonprofit organizations, and everyday citizens just like you.
However, there is more work to be done on the road ahead. Homelessness is undoubtedly one of our biggest societal issues today and will only continue to grow if we don’t take action now.
Invisible People is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to educating the public about homelessness through innovative storytelling, news, and advocacy. Since our launch in 2008, Invisible People has become a pioneer and trusted resource for inspiring action and raising awareness in support of advocacy, policy change and thoughtful dialogue around poverty in North America and the United Kingdom.

I'm 19 and I was jobless for months, now I got a job and I will finally be able to live a normal life. People just don't realize how hard it is to be young and have no family support.

It feels awful when we get updated on someone and it turns out they commited suicide or overdosed, but it feels so good to see someone bounce back. Thats why this channel is so important, we must know their names and how to help

Are we just going to ignore that someone literally picked him from the streets and gave him a life? Now I want to see an interview with this mystical 'Greg', you're the real MVP.

Sadly, EJ is the exception, not the rule. He got lucky. Very lucky. Not too many people would take a chance on a complete stranger to help them. It was risky for both of them. This is the sad reality of many young people that age out of foster care.

Would love to see an interview with the man who decided to turn his car around and talk to Daniel and help him by taking him in.

He's so damned wise. I can't get over the fact that he was on the streets since age 7.

I just got off the streets of Seattle after living in cars for 15 years. My Brother built me and my dog a beautiful tiny house at his home! Breaks my heart to see folks still on the street, but it's joyous to see update videos like this! Keep on fighting to survive brothers and sisters on the street, miracles can happen, hang on, keep surviving!
