The look on his face when he heard his teacher call out his name before he even saw her, like a comforting sound from the past he recognised ..so touching 😭
Depression when he was a kid because he looks "different"... People's cruelty knows no limits. There was nothing wrong with him, he was not the problem, they were/still are. I am so happy that he was given a chance and became successful despite all the hardships he went through. That teacher deserves a lot of applauses. And his mom too. The poor woman had to see her child go through so much just because of his skin color. South Korea really got to work on their discriminatory ways. You can't go picking and adopting Black people's fashion and music but spit on the very people who created them. Thank you for this video. I knew a few things about him (like the fact that they thought he could speak English because he was half Black when he really couldn't) but I was also missing a lot of info.
Teachers can make a difference in a child's life for either "good" or "bad". This teacher was extra special - just caring, she made a huge impact throughout this young man's lifetime.
My father told me years ago, "people will have a problem because you're black, but, that's their problem not yours". I never forgot that. I was very young, like in 4th grade. I grew in an environment where my black was celebrated, I'm very grateful to my family for that! To this young man, "embrace the beauty of your gorgeous copper skin."
@Dee now u had to make me cry. Tell your dad hope he doesn’t mind but I am going to use his words of wisdom that’s one of the best I’ve heard. I’m a black mother raising 4 black kids. Thank u!
True 💔 their problems become OUR problems when they interfere with our LIFE.😖😢😡😟😵 Ignoring problems. DON'T HELP..It can exacerbate. Its a community problem. We must stand up for what's RIGHT and JUST.
Racism is so effing disgusting. I’m so sick and tired of humanity, sometimes. So thankful for angels like his teacher, Miss Lee, who semi save some faith in us.
The reunion with his teacher had me in tears. God bless this young man. Too whom much is given, much is required. Continue to be strong in who you are never be ashamed of who GOD created you to be.
We Koreans need to be more honest about our white washed and wrongfully biased prejudice against the black community in Korea and talk more openly about this issus to fix...
I really want to know what's so bad about black people that we are hated everywhere? Like there are violent white people, but their community is not seen as violent, but one "aggressive" or violent black person and every black people are bad. I'm really happy that Hyunmin is doing good in his field and hope that only great opportunities will come his way.
The teacher is still that young after all those years..goes on to show how one person can have an impact on someone..and two how influential a mother can be..she spoke of his greatness from an early age..
I was thinking he may have suffered less in America for we're a very DIVERSE country!! I have a feeling if he had come to America, he may have never gone back. It's funny how there's so much blonde "ambition" throughout the world!! I recall how shocked I was to learn of Asian eye-lid surgeries.
@@hanyattia1665 he’s not insulting Koreans it’s true. He’s way more handsome than a Korean Kpop cutout who change everything about themselves to look like a white washed Korean
As a Nigerian From yoruba tribe myself ,I am so glad you and ADEOLA stand out. The stars 🌟 are there for your grasp 👊 ✨. The key word is keep being yourself. Nobody can take that away from you. Shouting out to those out there thinking of harming yourself because of your skin color, ADEOLA &HYUNMIN is enough to convince you that there is nothing wrong in being different. BEING DIFFERENT MAKES YOU STAND OUT. LOVE YOU BOTH.
Crying so hard, I am a mom of a half black half Korean child, breaks my heart that Hyun Min went through so much pain and prejudice. Thank God I am lucky enough to have raised my daughter in America, not saying there's no prejudice here, but at least in America it"s a melting pot of different color and cultures. I am very happy to see how much Hyun Min has succeeded and has become such a heroin for others like himself and my child. God Bless him and his family...
She called his name with so much love and compassion, and i think the elongated naaa - at the end of his name is an endeaeing term in Korean. Correct me I'd I'm wrong. I watch this once a day. It's such an over coming victorious story. This young man is totally beautigeorgeous.
I noticed his father’s perspective wasn’t captured. I hope that his relationship to his Nigerian side and their acceptance of him is equally cared about and embraced by him 💛
It,s sad wen these same people want to come to black countries and take their wealth and live a bigshot life off of black customers but dnt like d best bone in black people, d whites are d same and all d other Chinese.
There ARE MANY WHO WOULDN'T HIRE HIM BCUZ OF HIS SKIN COLOR AND ANYONE QUESTIONING IT MUST HAVE BEEN LIVING UNDER A ROCK BCUZ RACIALLY MOTIVATED ATTACKS AND BIAS HAPPENS DAILY
So touching... I'm really proud he is my Nigerian brother! If he comes to Nigeria they will treat him like a king for sure😘😘 We love you Oluwa Han hyunmin
I's tied, tiad, TIRED of this. The struggle of being black is triggering. Life is hard enough but it's like it triples when you're black. What ion understand is how can a society that is so influenced by black culture be racist or prejudice against the people who create it. I pray that in my lifetime I'll see a change. Ps. Them African genes strong asf.
This man IS Korean. They made it seem like he is a pure African man. He is handsome and striking and definitely looks like a supermodel. I still don’t understand why Koreans pretend they can’t see Korean features on people who are mixed with Korean. They aren’t blind. This man is clearly of Asian descent. Being a homogeneous society isn’t an excuse to be so weird and pretend they don’t know some people are mixed.
Like with any BIRACIAL person mix with Black you not going to see the OTHER race first.....Korean Men do not see themselves when they look at him.....Features don't mean anything to Asian,White ,Middle Eastern ppl......Every feature in the world come out of Africa.....I literally seen Black boys look like him and they are not mix......Men of OTHER races will never allow a Black Mix person to claim their communities/pride as their own.......Never......
It was heartwarming to see the reunion between him and his teacher. As a teacher myself, it was great to see that his teacher was brave to go against the grain. She changed his life... a positive impact and gave him hope... a beautiful story...this young man will continue to go far, I believe this.
When he reunited with his teacher I cried. People like her make the world a better place. If you are a teacher, PLEASE be aware of the influence you have on kids. They are our future.
I feel you bro being half Nigerian 🇳🇬 and half pilipino 🇵🇭 my childhood in Philippine's been rough because of my dark skin and some small minded people , but I'm still grateful because most of the pilipino's are actually down to earth and fun to be with once you get to know them, nobody can tell you who you are, who need to know that yourself, as for me though I'm dark skin I'm still proud Pinoy 🇵🇭✊🏽
Nice bro. U got to be yourself. It actually not easy growing up in a place like that as a dark skinned person. I'm relief that u have fought ur way out and are now happy for yourself. I'm a full blooded Nigeria 🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬. Nice meeting you here
Hej Francis. Iam a filipina at my late 40’s. In the 90’s, looking for a job, a got passed by a number of times. I have noticed that the tisoy and tisay always got hired. I am morena and in Manila, I looked more darker because we the sun always shines. I was never popular due to the Dark skin tone. Reading the journalistic and tsismis mags in the Philippines, our own kababayan still put the tisoys and tisays still on the pedelstal. The koreans are really popular. But we never have had any movies from africa. I have seen a number of african movies from Netflix. It is sad that the Philippines has never changed.
The reunion with his 3rd grade teacher triggered the water works. She is an angel disguised as a teacher. Lets not forget his agent too, who despite all odds signed him up and opened doors for Hyunmin. He is an oustanding man who sees beyond skin color.
I had mixed feelings while watching this video. It is so disgusting that some people still judge people by their skin colour in the 21st century! This guy is absolutely gorgeous. Thanks to his 3rd-grade teacher, his agent, and others who appreciate him the way he is. Thanks for sharing, Adeola. I just discovered your channel and subscribed.
I agreed with you. I'm brown Se-Asian American and half the time get bash on for being brown complexion (from East Asian in general growing up in U.S). Even when I shop at Asian Suprrmarket (in America), they refer serving light skinned Asian over my brown Cambodian complexion. All I wanted was to be treated fair and normal. Sometimes they look at me like I'm about to steal some shit smh. Brown Asian usally goes through alot of harsh shit in life. Anyway I'm happy Han Hyunmin made it by following his heart ♥...
@@hussey3867 no because I already know who hyunmin is and I've literally watched all his clips with nct dream so I didn't want to bother watching the vid hehe.....
Me too! 😢 you can tell she's really a genuinely sweet beautiful person. I'm pretty sure she didn't have to be "educated " on how to treat a human being
@@doudoulapin468 i was worried people would take this the wrong way, but you got it. it’s like yeah Somi got bullied, they called her “half-bred” - but with Hyunmin, they tried to denounce his korean side with saying stuff along the lines of how he’s not korean AT ALL... they at least half claimed her? idk makes you put things into perspective.
How could people be so cruel to a child? His skin color aside, he was a child. Other than that, such a cute child then and such an attractive young man now. Is their loss if they don't want to work with him. Bless his family and that teacher.
That's my problem. He's a CHILD. Period. You don't hold prejudice against babies. Hell, it's stupid to hold prejudice against adults over things they can't change either, but with a child, it's just insanely cruel. Now you're messing with a human being's development.
I'm korean and I coincidentally watched this video. I feel very sorry and ashamed for hyunmin and anybody who felt uncomfortable to the racism in korea. I believe racists are not majority in korea but still we have been ignorant and careless to the issue. We need to change our attitude and mindset and I think korea could do it very fast and thoroughly just like what korea had done in many other areas. Again I would like to say sorry sincerely as a Korean to whom be offended by this video.
This young man is so very handsome. It’s a shame that the low level vibratory environments persist. The ignorance and hatred is almost unbearable, however, it is good to know that he managed to run into people who are on a higher vibration and gave him a respite from the chronic bigotry. Thanks for sharing this story. I really appreciate it.
Why does the world hate our skin colour so much??? We are uniquely beautiful with characteristics no other race has. He is pure handsomeness no one can dispute.
He is so humble and I am so happy that his teacher was part of his life. All it take is one person to encourage you and push you forward. She was a blessing, thank GOD for her!
Great work, Adeola! I'm a white grandmother in the USA. And you have a new subscriber! Came across while drinking my mornig coffee & loved your story of this young man's transcendence & the people who stood beside him to support him. His determined, loving mom, kind & wise teacher & his agent who braved the difficulties of smashing glass ceilings are all as inspirational as Han Hyunmin, himself! Rock on, y'all!
I can't even imagine how hurt he must have felt as a child with all that bullying and discrimination, but thank goodness for his third grade teacher, she was definitely a gift from God for Hyunmin. I'm so glad he's doing well now. I think he's such a handsome young man, and I wish him much happiness and success for the future.
Black culture is the MOST sort after culture ! Everyone likes to copy our walk, talk , dress, style and mannerism but hate us. Why copy after something or someone you hate?
Notice how things started changing when his teacher believed in him and treated him correctly. Teachers have such potential to be great positive influences for children ❤️
After seeing your winnie video, I decided to watch the video about hyunmin and the teacher and his mom are so important. It just takes 1 person to lift you up and continue. I'm so happy he had them in his life. The moment where he reunited with his teacher made me almost cry.

Korea rasisssss
How horrible is it that his teachers and classmates induced depression in a six year old child for a trait he was born with...wtf is wrong with people
Teachers can make a difference in a child's life for either "good" or "bad". This teacher was extra special - just caring, she made a huge impact throughout this young man's lifetime.

Actually every country has racist ppl but Korea got a whole good amount of racist ppl not just some unfortunately 🙂💔

We Koreans need to be more honest about our white washed and wrongfully biased prejudice against the black community in Korea and talk more openly about this issus to fix...

Reading the journalistic and tsismis mags in the Philippines, our own kababayan still put the tisoys and tisays still on the pedelstal. The koreans are really popular. How could people be so cruel to a child? His skin color aside, he was a child. Other than that, such a cute child then and such an attractive young man now. Is their loss if they don't want to work with him.
Bless his family and that teacher.
You'd be surprised how common adults being cruel towards kids is.
That's my problem. He's a CHILD. Period. You don't hold prejudice against babies. Hell, it's stupid to hold prejudice against adults over things they can't change either, but with a child, it's just insanely cruel. Now you're messing with a human being's development.
Why "skin color aside...other than that, such a cute child?" HUH???
Could totally relate growing up in the 90's as a black kid in Israel.kids were terrible but the adults who shd have know better were the worst
The things is. Most kids don't see color. They see a playmate. Parents are the problem. Always.
