Hey Sherwood, just an observation. On the snap on scope I see you had the trigger set around 2v and falling edge. Move your trigger up on the screen (or just turn it off in this case) and turn on peak detect and I think you will see the "glitchyness" go away and it will act like the uscope or the ATS. Just my observation and I hate snap on scopes haha. I could be wrong and their sample speed may be that slow. If it is that is pretty pathetic for the price of that tool. Great video BTW 👍🏼
Hate SO scopes too.. Way overpriced for what it can do, but there is a huge pool of fanboys, lol. Love the Pico, have used the Autel a few times as well.
Yeah I use the pico on anything relatively complex. I’ll use the snap on on quick and easy things as it’s faster to grab and go. The snap on isn’t the worst scope in the world but I hate the way the zoom and stuff works backwards.
Thanks! Someone else mentioned that so I’m going to take a look. I always start with no trigger on the ATS so I didn’t even think about it on the Snap-On. I haven’t used the SO in a very long time so I’m sure I didn’t do it justice. I definitely wouldn’t buy it just for the scope but so many techs have the scanner and never use the scope. Hopefully this will get them to at least try it. Yeah, that’s about normal for me to try to do the ending. Haha. Thanks again!
Excellent video. It’s also great practice to scope things that you know are good since it’s good knowledge to know what scope patterns should look like on different modules.
Wow ! Incredible tutorial ! I need the detailed information / coaching as I am a beginner . I’m getting it - from your excellent teaching techniques and video shots to let us see HOW ! So I want to say I really appreciate your presentation .
I like the snap-on due to its what I learned on, all the way back in when the modus was first coming out, so I"m use to its operation and can use it with relative ease but I wish I had the money to get me one of the ATS scopes. I watch what Bernie does with them on his channel and I am very impressed with its capabilities.
I've had the Zeus since it came out, love it! Was looking for a second tool and it was either the Zeus Plus or ATS Elite 8 - Thank you as this video really helped look at both side by side.
Great information. I’m just learning with my Zeus and when the pattern is nothing like I was expecting that’s usually when I hit a wall. Great job guys I’m loving the channel
Nothing compares the Escope. You can do way more with the escope. Plus it has sensor simulator which sends frequency signal and you can pulse injectors snd ignition coils. Pus you can measure valve timing or anything and it shows you in degrees and great zooming feature. Escope is amazing and i love it and enjoy it every day👍
In my opinion, the ats is much better than the snap on. However, I believe you did an injustice to the snap on. Too many things you could have adjusted on the snap on to mention here. Yeah, you have to adjust time and voltage. Thats true of any scope. There are lots of videos out there showing it’s capabilities. Perhaps if you watch a few, you’ll see. There are lots of techs that already have the snap on scanner with the scope. Great place to start learning. Then maybe get the ats or pico as I did. Just my opinion. Love your videos. Keep them coming. Especially scope related.
For the snap on scope, I find it's best to switch out of Amps display and go to DC voltage and use the calculations written on the amp clamp. You'll be able to make a much bigger and readable waveform
These guys are top notch. I went to an eeprom class in Atlanta last year and can tell they take pride in their work. Great for the industry. On a side note I got the ats 4 channel few weeks ago. Any good recommendations for some good videos on it
Love the video😍 Thanks for educating us Professor👍 I don't have the ATS or Pico, at this time cuz they're way to expensive for me, but I've the Autel MP408 (basic kit) in my arsenal & constantly learning from you Guy's, I use it on almost every car😍 Stay Safe Guy's👍
I used some generic hantek handheld 2 channel scope found an intermittent 5 volt reference problem on an 07 avalanche. Just started shaking the harness got lucky and found the issue
You get more defined so scope captured by running the scope on normal voltage based screens versus the preset "low amps" scope screen. I've seen it and compared it many times.
I'll be an outlier and say I love my Snap On scope. I also have a Pico 4425 and a Uscope. The Pico is superior no doubt, but for basic stuff the snap on is very convenient. Yes the zoom works backwards on a snap-on, no biggie.
I agree, love the pico scopes and I definitely prefer them. But there is something to say about convenience. If it helps you diagnose faster when you are paid per the job (shudders) or are in a high demand field where getting the job done quickly matters like firetruck, police, EMS, oil fields, military ect. Things that are convenient to the tech become time savers.
Question for you guys, I’m getting into using my scope more and more on my snap-on triton d10, where would you recommend I go for scope accessories? Such as amp clamps, secondary ignition pick up probes, I know there are better quality products out there then the snapon brand but I do not know where to look 15:14
Switch the amp clamp MV/div output to your scope then adjust the voltage on the Strap-on to 5 volts. Like the professor was saying you’ll have to play around with it
i watched a video with keith defasio trying the zeus and he pointed out that he we watching the scope saw a glitch live then went to watch playback and the glitch was taken out by the zeus processer and that glitch is what he was looking for so he wouldnt recomend the scope on it if i find that video ill add the title thanks thec video is PINE HOLLOW AUTO DIAGNOSTICS (PHAD staten island NEW YEAR! = Part 2 (S1 Ep14,2) from 13:09
very nice loves your videos there are very easy to understand sir I have hantek 1008c I used for very limited test what you think about this oscilloscope.
It’s the EScope Pro 8 channel. They have a 4 channel also. Sorry, I don’t even get a deal. Haha. They are a small company and they design all their products. They even build a lot of their stuff in house. And support is second to none!
WHY DOES FUEL PUMP SPEED MATTER AND WHAT IS AN AVERAGE AMPRAGE FOR FUEL PUMPS ,,, THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR TIME 👀👀👀???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Fuel pump speed can show cavitation if it's speeding up and slowing down. It can also show a restriction if it's turning too slow and high amperage. It can show that it's not picking up fuel (Maybe out of gas) if it's spinning too fast. As far as amperage it depends on the vehicle. In my experience around 7-9 amps is a normal range but that's definitely not set in stone.
I'm a tech since I'm 18, now 39. I love your channel. I'm learning on your channel so I love it.

@@Jpilgrim30 yeah the buffet is super small and the fact it works opposite of every other scope in the world is a little frustrating.

Great video. AC couple works great to get a larger waveform.
Thanks for another great video. I'm shopping for a scope now. So this was good timing

On TH-cam search "Automotive Test Solutions." That's Bernie. He is the guy who made that tool so his videos are pretty good 😉

Wonderful information I live in area very few use scopes I am learning from you tube thanks so much
Can you demonstrate more tests on the snap-on scope?
I used some generic hantek handheld 2 channel scope found an intermittent 5 volt reference problem on an 07 avalanche. Just started shaking the harness got lucky and found the issue
Amazing video
We need a diagnostic cart tour

Nice scope work

Can't keep up with your videos, keep them coming
Great vid on these diag tools
I Would Absolutely Love to see video comparing the ATS scope to picoscope 7. I have a feeling you own a picoscope.
Did you do any class training on using a scope? I'm just getting into use scopes to diagnose vehicles
Switch the amp clamp MV/div output to your scope then adjust the voltage on the Strap-on to 5 volts. Like the professor was saying you’ll have to play around with it
Awesome channel
YOU ARE AWESOME!
I can swap parts, but diagnosis has always been my weak point. What's the best training method, or is it just not for everyone?
Do you lose guided component tests if your scan tool isn't up to date?
What adapter is there for the u scope to amp clamp I have the 20 amp small one thanks or do evan need one?

a scope is better than no scope. Practice, practice, practice. Once you are familiar, then look at upgrading.
You can do a lot of things with the 1008c. I recommend you HScope app for that One
100% agree

Got nothing to do with scopes but where can I get Those Fender covers.
www.fendercovers.com. They are the absolute best and last forever!
If my subscription ends would I still have the guided component mode?
On the Zeus you have to stop and hit the magnifying glass bottom right corner of the screen to zoom in
What to look for in a scope is isolated channels
Push the meter button on the top left of the screen then you can adjust the settings
In snap on scopes is backwards. You choose low time then zoom out . 10ms was completely fine IMO .i think When zoomed out looks pretty much the same
Ac couple the waveform on the Zeus and you can enlarge it
You don't have to back out, just hit the meter button on top, that should bring it to full screen..
What's the model name of that pocket sized uscope ?
Aeswave.com and look up UScope.
👍👍👍
You didn’t used the u scope
Your ATS? Model number? Can you get a deal for us?

Snap on scopes suck. Only scope that zooms out instead of in. Unless you know of another one?? But your vids are good though
Wtf.. ats smoke the crappy snapon
I don't find Snap On scope capable, I find it 15- 20 yrs behind time.
