I have both the new Pico and the Escope elite 4 channel. I use the escope all the time & i love it..I've don'e some diagnostics with Pico scope but then i always go with the Escope coz it's easier & i have all the accessories like In cylinder pressure transducer, intake transducer & exhaust pulse transducer. Plus it has misfire algorithm which is awesome and the ttl which u can send 5 volts pulses to find shorts or pulse igniters or other components.. Its great scope & i enjoy it every day.
PICO and ATS are the only scopes worth considering for automotive use. Maybe the new Autel VCMI that goes with the Ultra tablet as the economical add-on, but the jury is still out on that, and personally I'd rather have my scope as a separate tool so if it goes down I don't lose both my scanner and my scope. Please don't waste your money on anything else. AUTEL has been adopted by more OEMs than any other scope on the market (Mercedes, GM, Chrysler, Kia and so on have all adopted PICO!). That speaks volumes about the quality of a PICO because as you know, OEMs can build their own scope (like Ford did), so for them to adopt someone else's scope means a lot. Bernie Thompson, the Wizard behind ATS has built some of the best automotive diagnostic equipment on the planet, and he has patented it, so no one else has it. The difference between PICO and ATS is like the Ford VS Chevy debate: Each has their advantages and disadvantages, and it boils down to personal preference. Ask: Who provides the best support? PICO and ATS are both awesome! Who has a signature waveform library so you can look up known good patterns? PICO wins that one. PICO's newest scopes now eliminate the need for probe batteries and scale setup. ATS has software written for specific testing that the others don't have. So again, between PICO and ATS it's a matter of personal preference. Whatever you do, DON'T waste your money on a red brick!
for me this video was not boring at all i have snap on VERSE 4 CHANNEL and love to buy the Pico 4 channel when time come please more videos enjoyable to watch and appreciate ur time brother cheeeeeeers from Canada.
A scope is an essential tool for vehicles these days if you want to call yourself a diagnostician. I have the Verus Edge and I like it for what it is. I feel she is lacking a little for the price. Next on the list is the Elite 8 kit from ATS with 5 gas and Escan. Those guys at ATS are doing some awesome stuff for the industry as far as hardcore diagnostics go. Can't wait to get it. Probably sometime next year.
Had a coworker who bought one. Scope was shorted out internally and they refused to refund him full price. Not a big fan of overpriced snap-off junk unless its hand tools or specialty. I do like their software but for the price you expect everything to work. Then again work at a dealer and we only use this stuff for used cars at most.
Thanks for the reviews will be waiting for the snap on video with different testing.like you said its hard to see in depth videos of set up with the scope you have.alot videos out the but none showing how to set up and what to look for. Step by step.

I just subscribed, cheers 🥂
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Im trying to decide what scope to get, and i fell upon your clip. I was leaning towards the ats. Looking forward to more.
Very informative run down. The only thing I hate about all these automotive scopes is the price and how low-end of a scope they sell you for the price. The pico 4425 is a 20 Mhz scope, the EScope doesn't even list their bandwidth in the specs but would be a 500 Khz scope with a low resolution of two samples per cycle, 100 Khz is the more appropriate bandwidth if you want good resolution (they list a sample rate of 1 Mega samples/sec). Meanwhile, the "real" oscilloscope companies have had 100 Mhz scopes for decades now and one can get a new one for WAY cheaper than these "automotive" specific scopes.
For what it's worth, I don't find it dry at all man. I've had an EScope Limited for years and I love it. Hoping to upgrade to one of Elites within the next year or less. Eventually I'll pick up a Pico and an Autel too because much like yourself, I'm a tool nerd.
I am barely getting into in-depth diagnostics, I went with the vantage because of the guided component testing, not only does it tell you were to plug in it also has a known good waveform on there. To me that was a big plus being in a dealership were no one else uses scopes. Also the fact that there was financing so that made it a no brainer. Thanks for the great video!
Autel has independent grounds as well. Pico hands down is better though if you are willing to spend the price. I have an autel because it pairs up to my scantool well. Lugging around extra equipment can be annoying. But if you need the resolution of the pico and the autel wont do... that would be my second go to. Software for pico is much better imo too if you are looking to save good waveforms for comparison.
I bought a used PICO 4423 from AES wave. Pretty much seems to do the same as the newer picos except the max input voltage is 100V, so an attenuator is needed for primary ignition. I used velcro to attach it to my laptop with a 1' long lead. I also got the older uscope which was great to learn with.

Modis still making me money.
What scope would I need to just verify my work?
So Escope or Picoscope? If you had to choose one for the rest of your career which one would you choose
That’s a very hard decision to make for sure!
@@JarheadDiagnostics its one im trying to make lol
@@albertsautodiagnosticsllc2130 me to g don't know which one to buy there expensive
Pico Scope best ever
Whats brand leads would you recommend with a autel maxiscope?
7:50 where does one find a set of those leads?
I have the Autel scope, but haven't used it much yet. Can the Autel software put in the 720° and put in the dividers to see each cylinder TDC?
I don’t believe they do!
Hi,
I just got a scope couple of days ago. I tried to use it then download software in my laptop and plugged in MP 408.
When i select Auto setup my laptop show Maxiscope and press ok.it’s come up like this “The current software version doesn’t match with the hardware version.please go to Help ->Check for updates to update the hardware version”. But no update available.
I tried to contact Autel but no answer yet. Do you have any ideas?
I like your channel
Do you know if the Maximus ultra’s scope is compatible with your vdd parasitic draw tester
I haven’t messed with the new scope yet. But to use that you need to build a math channel. So if they new Autel let’s you do that, then yes you can.
Bro you're missing MT PRO 4.1
If the snap on is out of date do you lose the guided component test?
No.
Great to know
What would you recommend for a laptop to use for the ats or pico?
Thanks
The Surface pro 7 is an excellent one. I use it for both of mine.
@@JarheadDiagnostics thank you
Does the autel pico and ats all do 12 and 24 volt systems
I work on vehicles to big trucks ro construction equipment
On the ATS can I use any pressure transducer and convert it to a pressure measurement easily? Or can I only do that with their transducers?
Hello sir, I don’t have a great response for that. I have some cheaper transducers I could see if they work or not. What brand transducer are you wanting to use?
@@JarheadDiagnostics I have a few by AEM from my track car I’ve been using. I actually really like the ATS ones. I’ve been using them on my snap on and just doing the math. Im torn between the ATS and Pico.
If you get a 500psi it will calibrate with your Snap-On scope. And between the two scopes, that’s a very difficult decision.
Pico has a 8 scope
That is correct sir. But the 8 channel Pico isn’t AS vehicle friendly as the 4425a.
I have the autel scope. I haven’t been able to use it for a relative compression test without a current amp clamp. When I try this test I get so much noise on my graph. Any known reason for this.
N.b- I never used the current amp clamp for the test
The factory leads on the Autel scope are known for a ton of noise. I would recommend starting with that. Also if a start is going out it can cause it to look noisy as well. But 100% get some new leads. We carry the Warwick leads and they work amazing.

I have the Zeus I think for the price it should do more
Million like
Thank you!
do you make your own leads or buy them from AES wave
We make many in house, we also stock warwick test supplies, pico, and ats.
@@JarheadDiagnostics are the aes wave leads good for autel scope ; and how much is your leads
Who needs a scope? I use my stethoscopes to hear what is wrong with the car
I was told your mom likes my stethoscope.
