You’ll see why every piece of data matters so much, and why attention to details is EVERYTHING! This Sunday session with Andy and The Professor will truly help you to TEST, NOT GUESS! Enjoy!

    I somehow feel saddened that a lot of shops would have fixed this by throwing a pedal assembly in there without knowing what was causing the issue because of the code given; this video shows evidence of how critical these sensors are and that they indeed fall out of calibration over a period of time. Good job guys!

    • @markhb3346
      @markhb3346 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Right , a parts changed would have seen the DTC shot a peddle at it and been on its way without even looking at live data. I’m a scope users and believe sometimes we overlook the obvious because we’re afraid to be wrong and will waste time going down a rabbit hole when the answer is right in our face. Either way great video and great demonstration on how picky these systems can be .

      @andrewfischer9477 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@markhb3346 I agree 100%. You need to know when you're setting yourself and the client up for failure. And this is an extremely fine line too. But honestly, it took longer to do this one because we were filming. I'd say 1-1.5 hours total diagnostic time involved. And that includes re-search.

    • @TONYSTARK-jh2wu
      @TONYSTARK-jh2wu ปีที่แล้ว +4

      why's that make you sad if the problem was fixed. there's no information on the specs like they said. I bet the dealer would throw a pedal at it to.

    • @markhb3346
      @markhb3346 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@andrewfischer9477 understood , but I do appreciate you guys sharing this because honestly I would have graphed the APP1 and 2 PIDs and wouldn’t have even thought that little difference would be enough to fault it . Thanks for sharing that it’s very valuable and shows how susceptible these systems are to failure and they’re not very fault tolerant. But I think what the OP of this thread was stating that your typical parts changed would have seen the DTC and it’s description and just shot gunned a peddle and been right with no effort. But like what Dan Sullivan says “you only learn during the diagnostic and not the repair” and this video proves that point . I’m a new subscriber 👍👍

    I’m sold on the ATS system. It’s true and continues to prove itself true; scope data is vital to success. Notice how even the manufacturer scantool software could not precisely pinpoint the fault with streamed data - a voltage overage. Well done fellas!! 👍👍

    A big hello from the UK
    I am really pleased to find this channel, its also nice to see the extended use of the ATS scan and scope, I have one but I know of nobody else local to me that does, Pico is big here which I also have, I love the power of the scope and how by using one makes you so much more sharper and knowledgeable, I am continuously learning thanks to using a scope and watching videos like yours.
    keep up the great content I am looking forwards to many more from this vibrant new channel....
    Btw: its nice to see and nice to see the ATS scope being shown as it was only Bernies videos that were exposing the power of it...

    Hey guys love from Australia 🇦🇺
    The reason why you guys saw 4.756v max at live data was because the engine might not be running
    And when you guys checked on scope the engine was running and the alternator was pumping voltage a little bit that's why it went over 4.8v
    That's my logic

    Thank you for posting this. Your videos are top notch. I'm just a DIYer who's getting into scopes. This really highlights how, at a glance this could be missed...but with some scoping and comparing to the exact threshold figures a problem was found.

    Crazy. Such a tight voltage tolerance, especially when the car was not running and the sensor was within spec (lots of people would have overlooked and not make the call on the sensor or maybe guess lol). Recreating the problem 100% is the key I'm taking away from this video. Thank you thank you thank you for sharing this with us.

    Scopes are fantastic. Had a cruze last week with what felt like an ignition miss at WOT above 5k rpm. Scope confirms good coil trigger, injector control, and current to the coil. Current for cylinder 4 is consistently 2 amps higher - coil had overheated and melted a little plastic over the terminal for the secondary terminal which feeds the coil boot. Scope made it obvious.

    Great video. But this video shows the sad, bad truth about modern automotive industry and its unneeded complexity, especially the European. The point is that this DTC error would not even appear if the software in the car ECU was programmed to a higher tolerance for this APP sensor signal, say to 5V. As we have seen from the waveforms, hardware vise everything is OK with the system, we can say that the system is 100% correct. It is only the software triggered DTC and limp mode with no real electrical or mechanical problem.
