After Mibox 3 got Oreo, many have had issues with Wifi. My Mibox 3 didn't have any issues with Wifi until last week, when I decided to chance from 5GHz (it was unstable) to 2,4GHz Wifi and made my Mibox 3 to forget the 5GHz Wifi. But then I noticed that my 2,4GHz Wifi wasn't even in the available networks list, and nor was the 5GHz Wifi. If I manually added these networks, Mibox couldn't connect to them. After many attempts I found out, that Mibox seems to have issues with certain Wifi channels: When I have my 2,4GHz Wifi on channel 12 or 13, Mibox can't find it, but my phone etc. can (For the 5GHz Wifi I couldn't replicate the issue. Last week the problematic channel was the channel 108, I think, but today Mibox found every 5GHz Wifi channel, although for some channels it took a little bit longer. So this issue can also be related to the router and other factors). But I thought this could be helpful to you and others: If you have issues with the Mibox connecting to Wifi, try changing the Wifi channel.
I had the same issue with mibox3. overnight started not recognizing my wifi, saying it was not in range. So I'm using my iphone and sharing wifi from there. Mi box didn´t have any issues picking that signal!

I've got one recently and I'm satisfied with it. This box can read movies from my 5TB extrernal self-supplied HD and that's cool. The performences are good and enough for me.
Great video mate. To remap any of those keys use Button Mapper on the Play Store. I use the MyGica K303 remote and remap the keys to work with my Mibox 3👍. I remapped the Kodi button to launch the MorphTV app

Hey Roberto great videos you always put out. Please don't stop. I have a tricky question from portuguese to portuguese. Could you please try MeoGo or NosTV (side install on Android TV OS of course) in this boxes and share your feedback? I tell you why, I have a X92 a bit old now (I don't have any more updates nor support) and every 15 minutes the image stops and keeps buffering (either connected via Ethernet or Wi-Fi). Is very annoying specially if you are watching some record movie and it just comes back to the beginning everytime. Happens with MeoGo and NosTV. I prefer to stay with WiFi solution and MiBox might be perfect. Obrigado!!

Had been using it for the last two week. I am amazed by the performance considering the price. I dont find any problem connecting to 5ghz wifi. This do support DD plus on netflix, dts, DD plus while playing from HDD using kodi. The interface is too good and the casting works smooth as butter. I do not do lot of gaming, but i felt this one almost same compared to my minix u9h.
Nice to know that its working fine on your 5Ghz connection, here still not working on the 5Ghz. In terms of performance the Minix U9-H is superior, it has a Amlogic S912 so we notice a bit but pure android. So it depends on what kind of OS style we prefer 👍👍 Thanks for the input 😉

The Dolby audio, dts 2.0, in mi box is just a gimmick. I can't see corresponding logos in my receiver, but when I connect Apple tv 4k, my receiver decodes it perfectly. And the picture quality in Apple tv 4k, is just amazing.
@@RobertoJorgeTech Yeah, but I was disappointed by the dts and Dolby formats mentioned in the mi box, a manufacturer should stay true to the mentioned specs and not deceive the customer. There's night and day difference between the two, and of course ATV is pricey, but it's worth it and true to the mentioned specs.

It matters to me, but I'm having a Dickens of a time trying to find confirmation on any differences between box 3 and box 4/s. It seems to me they can run the same Android and have the same specs, so shouldn't they support the same quality Chromecasting?
Nah just bought this and it is frustrating to use Vudu cant play 4K videos. No amazon prime which is supposed to be available for android tv and to think they are certified android tv. The resolution is not changing and the the default is 720p and more ridiculous is they have a option for auto screen resolution but sad to say its not working so you keep on changing the resolution according to vid quality. DOLBY is a hit and miss and last it cost 59 usd then buy a firestick 4k tv and can recognized resolution and to top it all it has DOLBY ATMOS! and only 34 usd if you have prime. Stay away tk this device

wow, what makes me interesting is your internet speed, it's 500mbps! Unlike here in the Philippines, normal internet connection speed is only 1 to 3mbps. Everybody are happy if they got at least 20mbps up to 50mpbs. ISP here sucks!!!!

wifi problems with 5g freq maybe related to security settings just. change to WPA-Psk tkip aes. Wifi drop out signal also on 2.5ghz bandwidth dont use Bluetooth speaker it degrades the signal in 2.5.If your wifi router has 2.5 and 5 ghz you need to disable 2.5 ghz to. prevent wifi disconnect.

For folks that have one of these, can I play local content from a networked win10 PC? To connect to my windows shares I've heard the device has to be SMB2/3 capable. I would love to cast the box throughout the house as the dlna screen is connected to my home wifi network and it should have no problem streaming the media. What is your thoughts on this topic. What I cannot seem to understand is we are in 2019 and we are still accepting mediocre so called smart tv boxes. Basic features that should be standard are not incorporated like for starters a USB 3 or type C for that matter - I'm sure there are lots of customers out there who would love to connect high speed USB's and larger capacity HDD's to view their own content too , why 2GB RAM and 16 GB ROM why not 4-6-8GB and 32 or 64GB? Your video is good Roberto but you did not cover some of these aspects and the fact that there are issues with connectivity to HDD's by Mi Box 3, S.
No freaking tv box is capable of doing those things and if there was it would surely cost more so I wouldn't complain about a product this cheap. This is not a laptop.
I mean, how much do you think those components you mentioned cost? A chromecast ultra costs more than this TV box and doesn't even have Android OS or internal storage, this is offering you more than any other media consumption device.
@@gersonrendon2188 Hi Gerson, with today's production capabilities and a bigger wider customer base OEM's can surely offset the cost and bring it down considerably, besides the components I am talking about are already available at a reasonable cost to OEM's which would result in a marginal increase in the overall purchase price to consumers. To reiterate, there are consumers who are very much interested in such setups and would not hesitate to purchase for a minimal substantiated increase. You are right and I do not disagree that this setup box offers more than competitors, I only believe that with today's capabilities there is more that can be offered. Hi Roshan, i understand your opinion and at the same time Gersons. I believe that there is a market for top end devices, superior to the Shield which is the top machine at this moment. I would love to see more powerful devices but in my opinion right now 29 Jan 2019 with the Socs available Amlogic S912 / RK3399 etc its not worth it to add more ram or storage or even connectivity - My opinion off course. I would love to see something with a much better Soc and hopefully we will see it soon. None the less there will always be a market for budget machines and more expensive devices. Regarding the connectivity on the S i have been using with and without adapter with storage and peripherals and had no problems so far so i can see what issues you mean. the wifi not connecting is probably due to you 5ghz band/channel selection. this beeing a product sold in the US as well, they have different regulations regarding how many and what channel they can uso. so change your channel to something else and try it again. also chose the option to not enforce AC.
The only thing stopping me buying the Mi box S is the price, I know it's only $59 from Walmart but I can't find it for that price anywhere else that ships to the UK so I simply will not be buying it until it is.😢

I just bought mi box s for regular price and then it went down to 25% off the next day. I don't know if i am gonna be pissed or i gonna buy that one on sale. By far, mi box s is the best i have. The chromecast works perfectly. Netflix is working unlike other boxes in the same price range. They should have a TH-cam button and not the Live app.

I have Mi Box 3 and experiencing some bugs every now and then. 1) Voice command wont work 2) Difficult to turn on. Note that the memory is still 50% free. Should I upgrade to 4S?
I agree that its a fine machine, but there are some great pure android tv boxes. True that most are junk but some are great for those that love pure android 👍😉
If you play a downloaded serie from usb stick, does the mibox remembers where u left of? (Example. 12min53sec in episode 2, will it play from there on, or restart episode 2?) and does it auto play next episode? Thanks
A Netflix dedicated button is required by Netflix themselves in order to certify a device as Netflix-approved. That's why almost all current tv models include such a button on their remotes. Probably the same case here.
Hello I just purchased Mi Box S and it's great so far,however one thing is bothering me,I can't manually check for update...when in settings and about and software update I keep on clicking check now but search doesn't start...can you check your box for this please?
I got one of the Mi S Box off of Amazon and it was fake. The remote was so cheap, it doesn't look like yours at all. The box, I had to unplug it three times to get it to work. This thing was a nightmare.
Mi Box 3 has an issue with Netflix app, it keeps display an error and can't view any material, the error is tvq-pm-100 "5.2.5", I have followed all the troubleshooting procedures from Netflix help center with no luck, if anyone sorted this issue kindly share it with me. Thanks
Hi Tarek, make sure if its a issue with the country that you are, connection or any other issue related to that. Here the Mibox S and 3 are working correctly. My kids use them on a daily basis for Netflix and all ok
I would not purchase either. I used my Mi box s for less than 24 hours and returned it. At first, I was unable to download any apps or update any apps. This was not an issue with internet as I could watch youtube. I was connected via ethernet. When I connected to wifi upadtes started working. These boxs come with a bunch of bloatware. Even after I disables hbo, netflix, espn and all the otners. They kept enabling themselves. My advice is, if Amazon Prime is important then just buy a firestick. If you do not care about amazon and netflix, there are plenty of other boxes in this price range that are better. This box lacks in storge and Lan.
Hi. I have been using S version for couple months and its been a decent experience. Only thing i struggle with is to connect it with Bluetooth headphones, it immediately drops wifi signals. My router doesn't have 5ghz option so i can't even test that for now. Is there any other way i can work around with Bluetooth headphones using a same android box? When should i expect android 9 mobile software update?. Any one got update yet?
I want to share my Mi Box with my Windows 10 so I could get intro my Box drive from my computer. I tried but it doesn't work. What's the problem? While I have no problem when I try to get into my shared foder of my computer from my Mi Box. It works in one way only.

No way dude. No subscriptions needed and as a matter of fact you can get all the movies free. Walmart has the mi box right now on their website for 39 bucks.
It doesn't come with any subscriptions and this is designed to work with legal movie and TV streaming services that usually require subscriptions or have advertising in order to pay for access to the content, and the user has to provide the subscriptions and accounts themselves. I think the "IPTV for free" that you're thinking of refers to movie and TV piracy services that are often preloaded on uncertified Android TV boxes. Google wouldn't allow such piracy services on certified boxes like the global model Mi Box series. If you still want such services, you can sideload APKs through a third-party tool, and if it's an Android tablet app rather than an Android TV app, you can access them through an app like Mix-Apps, but I won't help you with the installation and usage stuff as I find it easier to just stick with the legitimate services.
The only one I know of is Puffin Browser, which is a proxy-fired Web browser. I know there was another Web browser available, but I can't remember what it's called.

I'm not too sure about how Xiaomi handles Android updates, so I'm not sure if it'll be upgraded to Android 10 or 11.
wifi problems with 5g freq maybe related to security settings just. change to WPA-Psk tkip aes. Wifi drop out signal also on 2.5ghz bandwidth dont use Bluetooth speaker it degrades the signal in 2.5.If your wifi router has 2.5 and 5 ghz you need to disable 2.5 ghz to. prevent wifi disconnect.

For folks that have one of these, can I play local content from a networked win10 PC? To connect to my windows shares I've heard the device has to be SMB2/3 capable. Have you been successful doing this with these devices? What apps did you have to install? Sorry for the noob questions, I've never used an Android tv box.
I used plex after all. Becouse the solutions with explorers were not that stable or easy to work with.
Plex/Kodi works fine via uPnp but it does have Smb support.
But yes if you use Kodi or a similar app than you will be able to see SMB or NFS shares on your local computers just fine!! 👍😉
Hey Roberto. Is there a way one can connect a mibox to a wireless screen? I was thinking if my android phone can cast to my dlna/wireless screen will a mibox be able to do the same? I would love to cast the box throughout the house as the dlna screen is connected to my home wifi network and it should have no problem streaming the media. What is your thoughts on this topic. Many thanks for the video it was very well explained.

It should, since the older one had been updated in September 2020, but the Mi Box S will likely get updated to Android 10 later on.

What I cannot seem to understand is we are in 2019 and we are still accepting mediocre so called smart tv boxes. Basic features that should be standard are not incorporated like for starters a USB 3 or type C for that matter - I'm sure there are lots of customers out there who would love to connect high speed USB's and larger capacity HDD's to view their own content too , why 2GB RAM and 16 GB ROM why not 4-6-8GB and 32 or 64GB? Your video is good Roberto but you did not cover some of these aspects and the fact that there are issues with connectivity to HDD's by Mi Box 3, S.
No freaking tv box is capable of doing those things and if there was it would surely cost more so I wouldn't complain about a product this cheap. This is not a laptop.
I mean, how much do you think those components you mentioned cost? A chromecast ultra costs more than this TV box and doesn't even have Android OS or internal storage, this is offering you more than any other media consumption device.
@@gersonrendon2188 Hi Gerson, with today's production capabilities and a bigger wider customer base OEM's can surely offset the cost and bring it down considerably, besides the components I am talking about are already available at a reasonable cost to OEM's which would result in a marginal increase in the overall purchase price to consumers. To reiterate, there are consumers who are very much interested in such setups and would not hesitate to purchase for a minimal substantiated increase. You are right and I do not disagree that this setup box offers more than competitors, I only believe that with today's capabilities there is more that can be offered. Hi Roshan, i understand your opinion and at the same time Gersons. I believe that there is a market for top end devices, superior to the Shield which is the top machine at this moment. I would love to see more powerful devices but in my opinion right now 29 Jan 2019 with the Socs available Amlogic S912 / RK3399 etc its not worth it to add more ram or storage or even connectivity - My opinion off course. I would love to see something with a much better Soc and hopefully we will see it soon. None the less there will always be a market for budget machines and more expensive devices.
Regarding the connectivity on the S i have been using with and without adapter with storage and peripherals and had no problems so far so i can see what issues you mean. (Self powered HDD´s Exfat)

the wifi not connecting is probably due to you 5ghz band/channel selection. this beeing a product sold in the US as well, they have different regulations regarding how many and what channel they can uso. so change your channel to something else and try it again. also chose the option to not enforce AC.

Buy a Nvidia shield. IF you have a receiver or sound bars at least you can sync audio and video at system level. So many more options in the Shield

I just bought mi box s for regular price and then it went down to 25% off the next day. I don't know if i am gonna be pissed or i gonna buy that one on sale.
By far, mi box s is the best i have. The chromecast works perfectly. Netflix is working unlike other boxes in the same price range. They should have a TH-cam button and not the Live app.

I have Mi Box 3 and experiencing some bugs every now and then. 1) Voice command wont work 2) Difficult to turn on. Note that the memory is still 50% free. Should I upgrade to 4S?

If you play a downloaded serie from usb stick, does the mibox remembers where u left of? (Example. 12min53sec in episode 2, will it play from there on, or restart episode 2?) and does it auto play next episode?

A Netflix dedicated button is required by Netflix themselves in order to certify a device as Netflix-approved.
That's why almost all current tv models include such a button on their remotes. Probably the same case here.
The Shield doesn't have one.
Hello I just purchased Mi Box S and it's great so far,however one thing is bothering me,I can't manually check for update...when in settings and about and software update I keep on clicking check now but search doesn't start...can you check your box for this please?

I got one of the Mi S Box off of Amazon and it was fake. The remote was so cheap, it doesn't look like yours at all. The box, I had to unplug it three times to get it to work. This thing was a nightmare.

Mi Box 3 has an issue with Netflix app, it keeps display an error and can't view any material, the error is tvq-pm-100 "5.2.5", I have followed all the troubleshooting procedures from Netflix help center with no luck, if anyone sorted this issue kindly share it with me. Thanks
Hi Tarek, make sure if its a issue with the country that you are, connection or any other issue related to that. Here the Mibox S and 3 are working correctly. My kids use them on a daily basis for Netflix and all ok

I would not purchase either. I used my Mi box s for less than 24 hours and returned it. At first, I was unable to download any apps or update any apps. This was not an issue with internet as I could watch youtube. I was connected via ethernet. When I connected to wifi upadtes started working. These boxs come with a bunch of bloatware. Even after I disables hbo, netflix, espn and all the otners. They kept enabling themselves. My advice is, if Amazon Prime is important then just buy a firestick. If you do not care about amazon and netflix, there are plenty of other boxes in this price range that are better. This box lacks in storge and Lan.

Hi. I have been using S version for couple months and its been a decent experience. Only thing i struggle with is to connect it with Bluetooth headphones, it immediately drops wifi signals. My router doesn't have 5ghz option so i can't even test that for now. Is there any other way i can work around with Bluetooth headphones using a same android box?

Bluetooth is known to interfere with 2.4ghz signals, so not the fault of the Mi Box
I want to share my Mi Box with my Windows 10 so I could get intro my Box drive from my computer. I tried but it doesn't work. What's the problem? While I have no problem when I try to get into my shared foder of my computer from my Mi Box. It works in one way only.
The mibox3 and 4 are similer accept in 4k play the 3 stand on 420 10bit and 4 ad 444 8bit with better colors

O que acontece quando dou um comando para controlar um dispositivos smart home (tomada, luz, etc...) a box retoma sempre resultados do TH-cam
Não consigo perceber porquê
Até uma coluna JBL link 10 com google Assistant incorporado consegue controlar os meus devices, as mi box só me dão resultados da minha frase no TH-cam
(ex: se disser °ligar luz ambiente° a box vai procurar vídeos no TH-cam com pesquisa dessa frase)
A minha exposição já vai longa mas ando à nora com isto, não sei como resolver, se puderes ajudar agradeço

No way dude. No subscriptions needed and as a matter of fact you can get all the movies free. Walmart has the mi box right now on their website for 39 bucks.
It doesn't come with any subscriptions and this is designed to work with legal movie and TV streaming services that usually require subscriptions or have advertising in order to pay for access to the content, and the user has to provide the subscriptions and accounts themselves.
I think the "IPTV for free" that you're thinking of refers to movie and TV piracy services that are often preloaded on uncertified Android TV boxes. Google wouldn't allow such piracy services on certified boxes like the global model Mi Box series. If you still want such services, you can sideload APKs through a third-party tool, and if it's an Android tablet app rather than an Android TV app, you can access them through an app like Mix-Apps, but I won't help you with the installation and usage stuff as I find it easier to just stick with the legitimate services.

There are noticeable differences in these 2 boxes. 1Gb Ram compared to 2Gb makes a big difference and one only decodes H264 and not H265

i had issue with wifi password i had the same password for 2.4 and 5g so i changed the 5g and then it connected. strange
BUT I HEARD THE NETFLIX APP IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY ON THESE BOXES ANYMORE! the movies keep on breaking up, like the connection is no good. but if you test the other apps in the box, they all work ok! ANYONE ELSE HAVING THIS ISSUE???

On The Mibox it does 4K Netflix no problem at all because its licensed. But most boxes true not licensed so only SD quality 👍😉
