While you cannot trap human souls there are many unique creatures that can be caught. Do you have what it takes to become a Pokemon Master?

34:16 The real answer is, in the Morrowind iteration of the lore, Vampires are connected to Vaermina and explicitly NOT Molag Bal:
    - Molag Bal himself says that he got the cure from Vaermina
    - Derar Hlervu, a servant of Molag Bal, says that "Molag Bal has dealt before with the dark walkers, though they are not of his making".
    - In Morrowind, Molag Bal is known as the father of vampires, but the Vampires of Vvardenfell vol.II says that "This account of the origin of vampirism is peculiar to Morrowind, appearing nowhere else in Imperial lore."
    - In the book "A Game at Dinner", an unknown person writing to Dhaunayne Aundae swears by "Vaernima the Gifter".
The lore directly tying Molag Bal to vampires is a latter retcon from Oblivion on.

1:07:30 The werewolves being Argonian Acrobats is because they both start with A. That means they default to being the first selections at the top of the Race and Class lists when you make a new NPC in the Construction Set. They simply didn't bother changing the default result, an Argonian Acrobat, because you'd normally only ever see them in werewolf form anyway. All of the 'generic' werewolves during the main quest are like this, while only the 'wandering' werewolves/lunatics get different looks.

On the subject of Vampirism: In Morrowind and Oblivion you may contract Porphyric Hemophilia, which is not the original vampiric strain created by Molag Bal's rape of Lamae (and neither is Skyrim's "Sanguinare Vampiris"). The original strain is known as Noxiphilic Sanguivoria. One notable difference is that Lamae's bloodline is not vulnerable to sunlight, unlike other iterations of the disease.
So the likely reason why Molag Bal can't cure Porphyric Hemophilia is because he didn't directly create it himself.

34:27 I love this mini tangent actually because it was addressed a couple years ago by ESO in one of their in-character Q&A's. Academically, the most general definition of a vampire is a mortal infused with a specific type of daedric essence which acts as a bridge or vector between their soul and the Prince from whom the essence originates. Under this definition, werewolves are technically just Hircine's vampires.
As for Aedric vampires? I mean, Argonians are right there. Anything is an Argonian if it is sufficiently Hist.
And failing that, the Dragonborn technically meet this criteria as well.

Eyy, my correction made it in! Arrow slits are 100% real, with the addition that they also work as windows if you're not being attacked. Real ones tend to be cruciform to give a wider arc of fire.
There's also sometimes slits in the floor above the gate, and people above can shoot arrows down through them. Or just drop rocks. Cheaper that way. Or poke a very long pike through but I dunno if anyone actually did that. The hot oil thing is mostly a myth on account of oil being expensive in medieval times but water was sometimes done.

Archer slits were indeed a thing, and they were also put in the inside of fortifications, because most mid-high medieval era castles had multiple layers of defensive fortifications and walls. If one layer was breached, the defenders could retreat to the next layer, so being able to fire down on the fortifications the enemy now controlled was a very useful thing.

thinking about it, it may be that each daedra has a gift of therianthropy, so for Hircine it would be a werewolf, and for molag bal it would be vampires, and maybe vaermina has her own therianthropes that are also a form of vampire

Merchants pull from levelled lists for their stock. As you level up, they (generally) get better stuff to put in their wares. That said, the lower level stuff never goes away so you don't always see the higher level stuff. This happens when they restock, I believe every 72 hours.

Pro tip: So, if you start with conjuration you start with summon ancesteral ghost. Also if you start with destruction which gives you a fire spell. Then purchase a soul trap spell. If you do all that you can creat a spell/enchantment that can fill comman souls worth $4000 each. You need to make the spell/enchantment like this. Ancestral ghost on self for 2 seconds then soultrap on target for 2 seconds then fire damage for 23 damage on target.

It's called the summoning room key. For some reason uesp doesn't have an entry for it on the page for the location or for Baladas, but it does exist in the uesp if you search for it.

I know why you didn't use the cast when strikes items, but I really do love those ones. One of my favorite enchants to put on a weapon is a simple Absorb Fatigue 9 points enchantment. It's a 1 cost enchantment, so you can put it on any weapon, and it also only burns one charge per swing. It basically ensures that my fatigue is always full and whatever I'm fighting is low on fatigue, and you don't even need expensive soul gems or specific high enchant capacity weapons to make it effective.

On my 2nd playthrough, I made a custom 'techno-mage' class. I had a Nord (100% Frost resistance and 50% shock resistance) with heavy armor (Dwemer armor for the robot look) and lots of enchanted rings for all my spells. Maxed out enchanting too (obviously).
I loved playing it because enchanted items have zero casting speed, and low stamina doesn't affect the casting chance. Just had a ring of fire damage for Nords, and a ring of cold damage for everything else. If the cold damage got reflected, it didn't matter because I was immune anyway. Went with alchemy and some other non magic skills that the Mage's Guild uses for their requirements, just so I could advance through their questline and reduce prices at the enchanter.
Had a blast throwing magic spells around like a machine gun.

Man the Enchanting system is so much fun in this game I wish it stuck around for future games, could have been an easy replacement for custom spells than the abandonment of the mechanic in skyrim for being "too spreadsheety" and "having too much of a focus on what the numbers do" as Bethesda's excuse for then straight up lying about the damage spells do to the point where I'm pretty certain that the wall spells actually deal 20 less damage than they say they do when you see their actual damage number in the editor

Something like this was my most fun run of morrowind. I played an orc mage that couldn't use magic so I had to enchant items to act as spells. Very challenging early game and forces you to do many different quests hunting down the best enchanted items. Telvanni quests give some really juicy ones.

13:20 not only are the "archer slits" or a balistraria, usually used for archery, there are also cases where they will jut a shortsword, dagger, or spear out the hole as the assailants are climbing ladders, since the best place to put a ladder is right above the slits in the wall. this allows for the attackers to be funneled into ladders with swords right behind them. should they choose another place to climb, it is usually either somewhere there are soldiers waiting to fight them, or it is flat out better defended. so yes, the "archer slit" is historically accurate!
Edit because i couldnt leave it at just this.
Looking back at the castle you were in, its pretty accurate. there are usually lockers or extra bows nearby for easy refills. the bow on the shelf is a longbow, which explains why the slit is taller and has no perpendicular lines. longbowmen would need to stand up to shoot correctly. the stairs nearby go counter clockwise UPWARD because right handed fighters would have the advantage. (the attackers coming down would be trying to slice through the pillar. the attackers going up essentially have a bigger area to swing) this particular design is used when you want to fight UP when defending. for this to work correct, you usually need to be really heavily defended in the front in order to keep people coming in from the top longer.

You mentioned high rolling damage on those X-Y damage for Z seconds enchantments, so I want to point out that the magnitude is rerolled every frame. At any sort of reasonable frame rate you might as well assume it deals average damage. You can high roll on effects that apply over zero seconds, though. The UI just isn't very nice about distinguishing those from 1s effects... (And you can high roll on effects that only apply once, but you knew that since you were stacking Fortify Strength!)
