    Cool! I own a 1980 KZ1100, 1979 KZ1300 TOUR and a 1979 KZ1000 MKII! They are fun bikes to ride! You got some good stuff man!!

    Dear Car,
    The engine of the Kawasaki KZ1000 Z1R out of 1978 looks like a new engine but I know it took you a lot of hours to get the engine in this condition. I know how difficult it is to get such a compact engine properly tuned, such as with the valves and with the ignition. So I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you that you’ll succeed with this job because I hardly can’t wait to hear and see the engine running. Wish your lots of success with the rest of the restoration of this beautiful bike and send you love from the Netherlands

    Great Video. The resolution and contrast is perfect with whatever you did for the filming of this episode. Now you must go back and disassemble the bike and redo the previous 12 episodes so we don't have to wear our sunglasses. Just kidding. I can't tell you how much I have learned just watching these 13 short videos. After rebuilding a few motorcycles I can now understand how you have reached the point where you tackle this job. Now it's my turn. Do you know anyone selling a wrecked Z1r or even a KZ650 Custom that I can submerge myself into for the next year or so looking for all the goods to bring her back to life? I can't wait for your Summary to find out the history of this bike and how long you have been collecting what you need to restore her and what it cost to restore her. Your series is so inspiring. Great Job. Gerry

    Beautiful bike !!! I appreciate your attention to detail. I notice you are wearing a nicks garage shirt which leads me to believe we must share a common interest in both 70s bikes and E bodies.

      Hello Andreas, I'm just a TH-cam Dad to Carl. I think that's what it's called. I have been absorbing all Carl has been teaching but I need to start putting together my own project. So let me ask, Do you know of any reliable sources for a Z1r or a KZ650 Custom that is in dire need of a Restoration? I live in Florida and need a project to get my mind off all my aches and pains and I can't think of anything more relaxing for me that to bring a classic Kawasaki back to life. I know it's a long shot question but I just had to ask. Thanks, Gerry

      @@gerardfenn3988 Hi Gerard,
      i see we share the same passion. Handling my bikes helps me to forget unpleasant things. What seperates us are almost 4700 miles between Florida and my locaction in the north of germany. So my sources wont really help you. kind regards Andreas

    I'd like to see the shims seat that it sits in. Does it snap in or is it just gravity allowing the shim to sit in a ring recess until the pressure of the lobe is set back against it? Just curious.

  • @gerardfenn3988
    @gerardfenn3988 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey Carl, at 1:01 you took the brain waves right out of my head. Did you use a magnet??? OCD's think alike. Perfect. Nice going spinning the engine to open the valve with the cam/valve/thingy in there to keep the pressure off the shim. WTG!!

    Hello, did you start the engine? I see that the upper gear is not original, I used the same one in my rebuild, does the distribution sound similar to a cricket at each turn? Thank you
