2:30 I love this scare, because it’s the kind that could only really work in a video game. If this were a movie, and the heroine climbed up a ladder in full view of the villain, we’d surely expect him to climb up after her right away. But in a game, it wouldn’t be unreasonable for a player to think, “Hm… all he does is walk back and forth- I wonder if he wasn’t programmed to be able to climb things? Maybe I can escape him up here!”, and that brief extra moment of him pacing beneath it gives them juuuust enough time to think it worked… and then his sprite changes in a way they’ve never seen before, and they know they’re screwed!
It's based on an iconic death scene from the movie Suspiria. The game takes a lot of inspiration from Dario Argento movies (Jennifer basically looks exactly like Jennifer Connelly's character in Phenomena).
Fu fact: The Scissorman was based on a cautionary tale from Struwwelpeter called "The Story of Little Suck-a-Thumb (you might also recognize that story as the inspiration for the Scissormen from Doom Patrol).
This is such a weird recovered memory for me! The Retro Blast podcast featured this game on their latest episode so I decided to check out the scissorman and I'm sure I've either played or watched someone play Clock Tower before!
@Chebmeh I guess you're right as terribly un-scary it is I did jump a few times because I was used to the fact that most hiding spots where safe in the SNES version (proving that the stealth in the game was GOOD) but if I wanna play clock tower on the ps1 I'll stick to the re release of first fear.
I think it really got bullshit when CT 3 was released and they added the "magical Bow and Arrow". C'mon, I'm playing Clock Tower, not Sailor Moon...CT 3 sucked...

Imagine if you saw a small boy walking up to you with giant ass scissors.
*what would you do?*
Use a gun
He has no ranged weapons and only melee weapons
And you have a gun
@@doyouknodawae2293 You'd probably just knock him down but thats actually pretty good.
Make sure I factor in the warp ability 😆
Run... Just run and hide.
Use a gun. And if that don't work...use more gun.

I love how you was able to do the video on 240p or 144p because thr graphics was the same
That's because this was uploaded 12 years ago 🤣
