@@starry7027 and thats why you should be given a choice: try to save Ann or just wait. In first case Jennifer dies, in 2nd lives, that would be very interesting and logical
"Time will cause adherence", one of the notes you find in the game, sorta explains it, as does Walter's note. The babies should have died, but because Mary stopped the clock tower and time at her house for some reason, so fate is stopped. When Jennifer starts the clock again, time starts again, thus Bobby's fate catches up with him. Dan survives because he was creating an inner shell from the kids he was eating (Probably got his hair from Laura, lol)
The scariest thing about Mary's switchboard death is the fact that Jennifer's portrait replaces hers with the words "I will kill you!!" still left beside it. And then she just... Walks away. No emotion.

laura always dies offscreen while ann's deaths happen in front of jennifer. i read somewhere a long time ago that they kill laura with demon magic, similar to lotte's demise in the cave
This game is the proof that epic horror games don't need great graphics nor a lot of gore (but it's a plus though). A solid programming and a great story is good enough to make you sleepless for days.
I think its pretty cool how in a couple of the endings Mary really likes to SWITCH it up. What a shocking twist! It was so lightning quick. I was totally thunderstruck. It really fries me up that she didn't die sooner though. Would have bolted through the game faster I bet. Mary didn't even go out with a bang, just a crackle and pop.
I love how after Mary fries on the switchboard, Jennifer just turns and goes outside to stare at the sky. No panting at having almost been choked to death, no checking to make sure Mary was dead...just "Welp, I'm going out now."
Omg the deaths involving Mary are the funniest. I love when she just randomly appears out of nowhere and then pushes Ann off the platform lmao. And her scream when she falls off the ladder is super hilarious too.

When I first saw Ann in the pool a while ago, I was like "Wow Jennifer you should save her... you're horrible!" Then Bobby jumped out an it's like "OHHHH... good choice Jennifer!" If you think about it, the chances of anybody in a game drowning simply because they can't swim is slim and none unless it's part of the character's history with bad swimming. Laura's death in the shower... this is why I now have transparent curtains.
I believe the sound of the bells drove him mad somehow. I can't remember, but it seems to me that this was explained in more detail in some of the promotional materials that were released alongside the game. What bothers me more, though, is that Bobby is killed by falling into the clock's gears, yet Dan can survive multiple trips off massive cliffs in CT2. Questionable!
@BalthaxZelda Mary adopted Jennifer and her friends, giving them the impression that they were "wanted as adopted daughters" (according to the Japanese Playstation version). But in reality, they were to be demonic sacrifices to Bobby, who is Scissorman in this game. :)
Clock Tower was ALWAYS scary. Every one of them. You would be walking around trying to figure out how to beat the level, and then, you would hear Scissorman's music. And tehn you're like: "AWWW FUCK ME!!!!!" time to go hi
@AdamX222 incorrect, there is an ACTUAL ending where Jennifer is murdered by Mary (ending D), two where she is killed by Bobby in the elevator (endings E and F), and one where she is killed in her car (ending H), and i think one where she goes back to the orphanage and either commits suicide or is killed by Bobby. (G? not sure)
@nikoOocroft It's not adequately explained in any scene in the game, but apparently Bobby (the scissorman) is driven mad by the sound of the clock tower. There are a couple notes in the game (one in the ceremony room right before the caves and one in the library) that say "Time will cause adherence", which I guess is supposed to be a hint to turn on the clock tower, but only Lotte's cave death scene directly says to switch the clock tower on, and nobody ever says why.
@MaijinMando Officially, according to Clock Tower: The First Fear (the sequel for the Playstation One), Jennifer is the only one who made it out alive. Miss Mary died at the top of the Clock Tower, all of Jennifer's friends were murdered by Scissorman (Bobby) or Mary, and Simon Barrows is unaccounted for but presumed dead. Jennifer is pursued by a different Scissorman in the sequel. :)
@Springmaus2007 Jennifer can die plenty-- but if she does, it's a game over (referred to as a "DEAD END" in this game), since, y'know, she's the protagonist.
