A mini yacht? Back in the day , I took my Contessa 26 from Lymington to the Med. No gps, plotter, autohelm, ais, radar, fridge or hot water. Mind you, we were mad! Great video and a neat Big boat 😂.
I did it 4 years ago in my twister. non stop. It didn't cost 200k to buy either!
Why were you mad? It is the people now who have become neurotically obsessed with technology.
Yep...I remember when 30ft was a "large" craft...been sailing for 55yrs and still "out there"!!
Theres some crossing oceans in old 18…20ft boats ..that is bonkers...
This has even got a versa helm a versa chair and versa head ..wet head.
Better it generates its own power under sail and with some solar for the calm sunny days.
People still do that in CO26s today.
It is a wonderful design. Bringing back simple utilitarian yachts is what makes yachts fun and allows far more people to get out and love sailing because this "outdated" concept is more for fun than the other stuff. I went sailing and did the fastest ocean passage in the world on a yacht before, but my little displacement yacht on Pittwater gave hundreds of people memories they still love to talk about 30 years later. It is a shame it is so expensive and putting a wheel on it was quite absurd.
I really love this concept, the perfect first boat
Not sure I'd call something that expensive a perfect first boat, but it is a very nice idea
Gorgeous little boat! Although I guess 30ft isn't that little. 160k is a bit rich for my blood though.
This is a brilliant little boat! One trick they should consider is offering some solar panels to help top off power for the electric motor and ancillaries as an option.
Probably not enough space. But make the prop reversible so it charges when sailing... Kudos to Hunter for asking the same for e-power vs diesel though. Everybody else seems to charge 50k extra at least.
solar panels would create a laughable amount of power compared to the size of the batteries.
As noted by @riddlerandsa8161 some kind of hydro generator would bring in a lot more juice than solar. I'm only a layman at this stuff though, so haven't done the actual math... But I guess solar would also help while at dock or at anchor on a sunny summer's day
@@angela1984a You realize this is a fast day sailer, you want to attach a drogue to it.
@@jaysparc You seem to have a point.
At 3:10, interesting that the foresail furler appears sit inside a large hole into the chain locker. One large wave and you have a heavy bow... Is this an issue in general use?
Any power regen while under sail? Is that the house battery too for lights and fridge?
What a great little boat! Well done!
I'm not a fan of that interior but I like that they're offering electric motor variants. The cost of batteries is coming down to the point that should be viable for many vessels to have electric motors (topped up by solar, wind or prop). Saves money and foregoes the inconvenience of buying diesel.
First comment, love your videos toby!!!
Thank you!
Hi Toby, could you make a video out of the marina sailing on a Y Yachts Y7?
Die friezen zitten te lullen alsof yachting world niet aan boord is! Toby doet gewoon zijn werk en goed, aardige boot, met elec voortstuwing is het oprecht weer een hulpmotor, heel goed
Great 30footer, I think if a person was adventurous enough that boat could go pretty much anywhere. For 160k not to terrible for what you get
Very nice….sure regarding the price ?
Great yacht, indeed. Solid budget too and standing height of 1.55m? That last bit comes a bit as a surprise when you're in it. So it is a weekender, simply overdone. A bit like an actual landrover is supposed to be off road
"This is a fun boat."
The faces of the crew in that moment: 😐😐.
Great initiative on having electric for no extra cost. These are the types of companies that should get tax benefits for doing that. And the ones that don't should pay more tax.
No gimbal ?
Vinyl Esters, bit of a weird pronunciation in the video. Nice boat though!
definitely a daysailer for enclosed waters
I really don't understand why anyone would buy one of these for that price. You could buy a relatively new and similarly sized cruiser racer that's better in every way in the second hand market for far less.
160k, is that rubles? that ain't "no frills"
Cool little boat but it's competing directly with the old 30 foot Hallberg Rassy's which seem to be superior in every aspect except the steering arrangement.
180 K for that ???
200k all in is steep for a 30 footer with very little
Buy a 2nd hand 30 footer, which costs max 1000-1500 Euro per foot. The 2nd hand market is flooded with excellent boats well maintained, in good shape and equipped well, very seaworthy with competitive rigs and sail wardrobe for fun regatas.. Who cares to have a fancy looking carbon designed steering wheel or you can go upwind 6 knots instead of 4.9 knots. Doesnt matter at all for hobby sailors. This badly ovrprized boat is for spoilt wealthy middle class people being part of the establishment. Honestly, we dont need more of these folks on the water.
Those who can, will. Those who can’t will go second hand. Neither needs direction.
