Do you put a drop of thinner because you want a softer tone? or is this not necessary for the color you want? will it always be like this?

BEQ 3000 hi, really the model air is straight from the bottle, but i just add a dash of thinner in the airbrush first. I just think it helps the flow, thinner is what i have at hand. Was really pleased with result except for paint coming away in the tail section. Think Tamiya is easier to use but the ranges of mig, vallejo etc are better.👍

you can thin model air for the airbrush too, and in fact a bottle will last much longer owing to the amount of thinning

Thanks for watching, this was one of my early TH-cam efforts, I used the set for the Airfix defiant I posted early in the year. 👍

Do you think 17 mL of dark green will be enough to paint the top of the 1/48 scale spitfire from Tamiya ?

Hi, it seems to go a long way especially as its camo.

Do you need to mix the paint with color leveling thinner ? Or it’s not necessary.

I tend not to, maybe so flow stuff to avoid dry tip

    • @OdysseyAviation

So I can use it without any thinner? Also do you use flow improver ?

@@ctscalemodellinguksorry I mean do you actually need to thin Vallejo model air ? If yes what is the ratio?

@@OdysseyAviation i tend to put a spot of thinner in. In theory model air doesn’t need it

@@ctscalemodellinguk also do you think 17mL of Vallejo brown will be enough to cover the top of my Tamiya spitfire 1/48 ?

Vallejo paints are really good once you get used to the amount of thinner or no thinner required. Always use a Vallejo primer. The pronunciation is Vall Hey Oh. Its a silent J. But I prefer to call it Valley Joe.

Thanks for watching my video, my Spanish is awful but hopefully it gets the point across.😀

But tamiya is butanol based and Vallejo is water based, so that’s probably why it’s not adhering. Vallejo do there own primer which is a little tacky when applied so that the top coat fixes better , also Vallejo can be a little delicate so I also use a low tack tape 👍🏻😊

From experience I know that i e vallejo painted model should be varnished, weathered with their own products or any other water based acrylics.Tamiya or Mr Hobby paint very possibly will eat acrylic coating.I personally only use vallejo for miniature painting and 95% of the times only with the brush.Tamiya and Mr Hobby hands down are the best for airbrushing. From acrylic paint range in my opinion andrea colours are the best because their pigmentation is very rich and actual coating is way more durable than vallejo or ammo and ak.
