Years ago when my family was at the Tomb watching the changing of the guard, the Sargeant of the Guard stopped and approached an old man standing by the fence and saluted him. We found out later the old man was a recipient of the Medal of Honor!

it is dictated that any and all members of the armed services salute any Medal of Honor (it's official name but it is bestowed by Congress) recipient regardless of any difference in rank. Hence, upon crossing paths a general is compelled to salute even a private if they have won the MOH.

you're a sucker, too. none can meet the real standards...which come after all this diagnostic bullshit everyone in D.C. is fixated on. the standards will be changed and men's organizations WILL BE broken up. That's the goal; not national defense. The message is being sent loud and clear thru the rank and file by commanders - just like at Ranger School. Feminsist know how, with their allies on the left, to harness power and intimidate people. they get their political generals lined up (during eight yrs of Obama) and make happen what they want to happen. they are dictators at heart and wielding power comes naturally to them. they will never accept one woman in a 1000 or one in a 100. As soon as the dam busts, the standards will be changed to suit the avg female recruit...just like the current standards are there to suit the avg high school or college male. avg femme can't do that so changes will occur, while clowns like you keep mumbling about standards. you're clueless about the real power play and how it's going down. just like fed law enforcement 35 yrs ago. was going to be one standard there, too. Today? 20% quotas across the board for decades and separate tests. Where are all the gd liars now hollering "one standard?" No where to be found and feds haven't been the same since.

The ground is rusting because of that, although it takes ages for rust to even form, that’s what is causing the prints, it’s impressive how precise their marching is, but concrete doesn’t form footprints like that with standard dress shoes.

20 April 2017. My father, Carl Douglas Terry, was a guard at the Tomb in the early 1930s. I have a picture of him there. The volunteer Tomb Guard sentinels go through rigorous training for the high honor of being chosen to stand guard & march through all kinds of weather. To me, they may be at the Tomb of the Unknowns but they are guardians of the graves of all those peoples buried at Arlington. While the dead are "asleep", as the Bible says, & know nothing, no matter where visitors go on those sacred grounds, let them be quiet & respectful, thinking what sacrifices were made by the fallen ones for our country.

rachel..........since you want to bring politics into it, it seems that conservatives have little respect for the military and seem to have a penchant for sending them off to war with little to no regard for reason to be doing so. Bush/Cheney ring a bell for you? it was conservatives that ratcheted up the war with insurgency after insurgency and then when it came to date certain for withdrawal the conservatives screamed like a 3 year old having a tantrum. if you wanted to point out the disciplined aspect of what the military does that's fine but save your partisan bullshit for another day when your hypocrisy isn't so blinding !!

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is about NOTHING more than the poor soldiers in all wars known only to God who gave their lives for their country. Using this stage for anything other than 100 percent respect for these soldiers is pure hypocrisy.

didn't assume anything. I didn't call you a conservative. you mistakenly did that. I merely brought up the inconsistency in your post that it's liberals that have no respect for the military. and you did bring politics into it when you posted this: " You scoff at this, you remind me of the ppl in a very liberal city I just moved from. Heads up in the clouds floating around condescending others for not being like you." you just automatically assigned to liberals a general disrespect for anything authority.
as for the respect of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, I agree with you and it's honoring those who gave their lives without recognition.

Really? Which standard was lowered to allow for this female to be integrated in? Please be specific and cite sources. I keep hearing that claimed but so far not one person in the last ten years has been able to specify a standard that was lowered nor cite a source for their claim. Bear in mind, you would be addressing the proud uncle of a female gunnery Sergeant who has been awarded a purple heart and bronze star and who went through precisely the identical training as her male counterparts and could probably shoot the flea off your nose with minimal effort nor any marks on your face. She has one of the highest marksmen ratings in the history of the U.S.M.C. She has also completed 4 tours in Afghanistan and one tour in Iraq. She's also a 3rd degree black belt in Karate. So go ahead, tell me which standards you are talking about.

As Mel Gibson said in "We Were Soldiers", when the stuff starts flying, you will care not about the color of the skin of the person you share a foxhole with, nor will you care by what name they call God. As long as U know that person has your back, and they know U have theirs, that's all that counts.
My Dad told me that his Cbt Avn Egr Co in the ETO had Christians, Jews, and atheists, and they only cared that you had their back and you only cared that they had yours, that War reduces everything to the lowest common denominator, and those who have not walked a mile in those boots only complicate the issues and are arrogant if they think they know better. Worked for me.

+Lindsey Foss Only soldiers you say? The feminists in this thread have been watching way too many female superhero movies and don't have a clue what combat is really like. I saw a video on a squad in Iraq that looked real funny, but I didn't laugh. The female "soldier" tried 6 times to kick in the door, a male did it once. If this were a battle, that bitch would have gotten the entire squad killed.
Female fantasies do not belong on the battlefield.
      Thomas

    • @tdfisk
      @tdfisk 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

+Konrad Stolzerfaust So you think women are just as effective in hand-to-hand-combat? I've fought hand-to-hand with knives and it's not like the movies. Maybe one out of a hundred thousand women can do it. You want to know what REAL hand-to-hand combat is? You use brute force given you by that nasty male hormone testosterone to force the enemy into a position where his head is pulled back and you shove the knife under the chin and back into the brain. Then you look him in the eyes as he dies. You think this a fucking movie, stop talking out your ass.
BTW, feminists were claiming that in just one year there were over 20,000 sexual assaults of women in the US military. A bearfaced fucking lie. The big question never asked is how can a woman fight a man in battle when she can't even defend herself from sexual assault that isn't even violent (any violent rape and the other soldiers or sailors would kill him)? On my first ship a couple of sick fucks decided it would be fun to shove a foxtail up the younger sailors ass and I was one. They caught the other, but I was too fast. That night the biggest jumped in rack and said I was going to get worse. I pulled my knife and put it to his throat. All I said was, do that again and you're a dead man and I gave him a nick on throat to remind him. The practice was stopped. Just keep in mind that in a real war that takes a lot of our soldiers prisoner, the women will be repeatedly raped.
Get back in the fucking real world.
      Thomas

My next oldest sibling is married to a guy of Polish heritage. He's a great guy. Americans think highly of the Poles. Situated in the middle of rather bothersome neighbors in Europe over the last few centuries, the Poles have nevertheless shown great resilience, a trait Americans readily identify with, and who led the charge which brought down the Soviet Union. And we Yanks also have great memories in our Revolutionary times of our first military engineer, General Kosciusko, who was of immense help to General Washington, who was blessed by Providence with great assistance: the naval transport master from Massachusetts; the drillmaster from Prussia; the son he would have loved to be his own, the Frenchman, Lafayette; the Boston book merchant who read up on how to make efficient use of artillery, and who Washington asked that he sit still in the boat ride across the Delaware because his swinging gonads would upset the boat's balance; the Rhode Island pacifist who became, first, his Quartermaster General, then, one of his greatest battlefield commanders; the backwoods general who drove the Brits crazy, whom they could never corner.

My son-in-law was in the ceremonial guard at arlington. He said the training was rough. He told me about a funeral which he was assigned. He went on to say it was in the single digits in temperature and windy. A tree branch whipped him just below his left eye. He said it took everything not to move an inch. He felt the warmth of the blood. Afterwards, of all people to talk to him was the mother of the deceased. She just happened to see it happen. After talking to him for awhile, she told him, " my son thanks you. I'm positive he had seen it happen." It took him everything not to cry.

If you talk or your kids start to cry, or your cell phone rings, you will be escorted off & maybe fined too. I seen it happened. Wear some good walking shoes too, it gets very hot there in DC.

I heard they (the honor guards) have to go through all this training to time their "routine" (sorry if disrespectful term, but I think it fits the best) to the second. For example, 21 steps across, pause 21 seconds, about face, pause 21 seconds, return, etc. IIRR this is to silently represent a 21 gun salute.

This woman got to the position of Sergeant of the Guard because of her dedication and respect to her country, those before her, and those after her. I agree that a man with the same vigorous training could possibly overpower her physically, but if that man is not right in heart or sincere in intent, then he is worthless all the same. Do not forget that the reason why men are usually preferred in the military, because they are naturally physically more fit to fight, is also the reason why the crime rates in men are always higher and why men are also looked upon as more negatively violent. Again, strength and physical perfect without pure and moral intent still means that you are an asshole all the same. Plus, to get that position, I’m sure she had to beat down many men much buffer and visually stronger than her. How someone looks means nothing on how much they are worth. I’m sure that this Sergeant of the Guard would jump in front of a grenade to protect this tomb just as any other guard would.
The Old Guard is also supposed to be a visual representation to the international community of what the entire American military is. What hurt does it do if we also show them that our women are also strong enough to beat your men any day?

    • @-caspo-
      @-caspo- 4 ปีที่แล้ว

I completely agree. So why, then, is the word female even in the title? It shouldn’t matter. Also, men are not just more physically fit to fight but also mentally fit.

The United States Constitution is there to be upheld, and at its very core is the Protection of Individual Rights, meaning each citizen has a right to their own life. This is what the armed forces protect and this is why we thank them for their service.
The draft is a direct violation of those rights. No group has a right to force you to sacrifice the pursuit of your happiness.
Furthermore a professional army is more effective.
What's needed is the philosophy that demonstrates the morality of the founding principles of the most moral nation in history.
Ayn Rand has given that philosophy. My recommendation is to understand Objectivism and then reevaluate your thoughts.
