The earbuds pick up a frequency and emits noise when "monsters" are around. It was an early episode when Hyun-su was told about it to help him go rescue the kids.

They don't explain it too well but in the early episodes they mention how the earbuds emit that noise/frequency when monsters are in the vicinity. At the end, when Eunhyuk (the older brother/leader) is hearing the frequency, there could be two interpretations. The first option is that he is hearing the ringing because Hyunsoo (main character) is nearby which would mean that his brief conversion to total monster now causes the ringing. Or the second option, and the one that I prefer: Eunhyuk is hearing the frequency because he himself has hit the 'monster barrier', as shown shortly after when his blood starts pouring. You'll notice that, in the scene where he promises his sister that he will return safely, he is wearing the earbud - meaning that he might have known in that moment that his transformation had begun and was therefore leaving with the intention to never return.
I don't blame you for not understanding all of that though because the show doesn't do a great job of explaining quite a few things. For example, your interpretation of the golden hour being a certain time of day is cool but incorrect - the golden hour is just the time between initial symptom and full conversion, where a monster is at its weakest due to lower healing factor and less abilities. However, the show doesn't do a good job of explaining this (and even kinda ignores its own rules sometimes) and so I can understand the confusion. Especially since the main character himself flirts with the golden hour throughout the show, as he is constantly bouncing between monster and human without any proper explanation on how this affects his golden hour. I enjoy the show a lot and respect the creative vision of it, but the early episodes struggled along in my opinion due to the director's choice to rapidly skim past everything.

They were never gonna let that actor go who played the character with scar on his face, he is too big of an actor in Korea, they had to keep him in season 2.

The webtoon and series has A LOT of differences so even the reader dont know what's happening so yeh i dont think reading the webtoon is the key for your questions. But if it's only for wanting to know the webtoon version, its highly recommendable

I find it funny that they never really knew any of the actors by face. It reminds me when I first came to US and to me all people with the same skin color kinda looked the same and took me a couple of months to distinguish my classmates from one another. My neighbors and classmates mistakes me for my brothers and sisters, and to other asians at school. Just took me back. It's been 18 years, just recalled those memories and it's quite funny now that I look back into it.
