Why do half or more of murders go unsolved

It is the lack of closing the little that keeps big cases open. Because we are not fixing things nothing gets solved. Going the wrong way with the best of intentions still results in failure.

Surely attending a lot of the "minor disturbances" prevent the murders from happening in the first place, so it's fewer they need to solve over all.
