I came here because she played Annah in Planescape: Torment (1999). I gotta say her voice changed so much. Her voice was clear and sweet in the 80s, then turned deep and her accent thicker around 2000s. Which is kinda cool and sexy.
You have to remember that it would be her management that would have told her that if she was going to be getting a lot of work in America then she would have to modify her accent so that American audiences could understand her. If the alternative was working around social clubs and working mens clubs of bellshill,wishaw, Motherwell etc there was only one choice for her to make really. 6:46

She lost a lot of favour here in Scotland as she lost her accent very quickly (i.e from the moment she moved to the States she became as American as apple pie). Scots took this to be insincere. She came bsck and played a big gig in Scotland in 1990 and got booed when she addressed the crowd in her acquired accent.

When you have people, particularly a husband who is willing to move and take in children that is not his, and him being a successful businessman, to do what you required, move his business, should this not be a big sacrifice and be appreciated? Who knows, but she is not an example to follow in her real life outside of music. She seemed to make it big in her early 20's and admired her back then, but now I don't. She let the lime-light rule her life, instead of her rule the lime-light, like other celebrities.
