Actually, from my own experience, it should be easier learning languages if they are in the same language family as your native one. For me, learning Russian is pretty easy since my native language is slavic also. One step back, you have Balto-Slavic. In principle, the more steps you go back, the harder the language should be. Since english is a germanic language, an english speaker should have less trouble learning Dutch for example. But, since both English are both Indo-European languages, but parts of different branches, it shouldn't prove too difficult to learn. The problem comes when one tries learning a language that belongs to a totally different family altogether. Like Finnish. Finnish is a Finnic language (like in the same family with Estonian, Mordvin, Magyar and others) and this is where a totally different vocabulary, grammar, gramatical cases, and all kinds of stuff that do not form a continuum with languages from another family. IMO, it shouldn't be surprising any indo-european speaker doing good in Russian or any other indo-european language. But I would be surprised if a Korean or Bantu speaker found it easy. It's not a B-Movie... lol. Go look up the definition for B-Movie. The underworld films have earned more than $500 million globally. The budget for this film was 35 million dollars. Many actors choose films with multi-million dollar budgets (regardless of how cheesy they are) so they can afford to do low-budget/Indie films when they receive a script they like.
