@lindafox7506 I'm very well aware of that. But not only does it not sound like Paul, that is not what Paul's demo for Cilla even sounded like. I'd be less critical if the title was honest, instead of listing it as the Beatles.
The tune with its harmonies gets its inspiration from the early 60s bossanova & modern jazz boom, as well as the French chanson. Thus it could've very well been a film music to a film noir -style movie or a romance in a new generation musical.
Dear God. This is beautiful. Been a fan for 45+ years and never heard this before. Feel like one of the nearest things to a brand new Beatles song I have ever heard! Love it! 💗💗💗💗💗
This is the longstanding, much loved Australian Beatles tribute band, The Beatnix! The band of the 80's and 90's playing around Sydney. They released an album called "It's Four You" of songs written by The Beatles for others. This is from that album. They now go by The Beatels. They were and still are the best tribute band ever ❤
This is an exceptional cover. There we so many classy Lennon/ McCartney songs that were given away and not recorded by the Beatles. This was written mainly by Paul in the same vain as Cilla's earlier No 1 "Anyone Who Had A Heart" written by Bacharach/ David. The middle section of this song ("They said that love was a lie...) flows along both melodically and lyrically with that touch of a great songwriter.
If this is a Beatles tribute band, the song should NOT be represented with The Beatles Anthology album cover. Total misrepresentation. Lame, however fine the performance.
OMG!! I have been an absolute Beatle freak for almost all of my life and I've never heard of this song. I just found out about it today from a sheet music book called "Beatlemania 1963-1966 vol. I" I saw the music to this song and thought, "That's no Beatle song I've ever heard." Thank God for youtube, I finally got to hear this masterpiece (thank you Beatnix). This song is just another fine example of why The Beatles are the greatest musical artists since Wolfgang Mozart.
Wonderful recreation of what the Beatles might have done with this timeless melody Paul came up with; Beatnix do it beautifully in perfect Beatles style.
I hadn't known this song existed until I found it in a book I have of Beatles' songs. The tune and chords are very unusual, also very nice. I felt special just tinkering with it on the guitar. I knew from the book, I think, that Cilla had recorded it. I was surprised, upon visiting my brother in 2002, that he had the Cilla Black 45rpm single. Must say, I didn't really like it. Fairly awful, really. This recording, apparently by The Beatnix, is the first time, now in 2024, I've ever heard any other recording. This sounds really good. I'm glad someone did it justice. Super song, super tune.
Genius Paul song. Wish they'd have recorded it but we have Cilla's version and 3DN's excellent interpretation. Others' as well but those are my favourites.
Allways loved this song since first heard it the day Lennon was shot.. the radio played the Cilla Black version of this song..it struck me right away as a beauty of a melody ..I know Paul wrote it as a nod to Burt Bacharach..I genuinely thought this was Paul singing the demo or early try out of the song, so great job of recreating that sound here..and the lead vocal really sounds like Paul..and yes it would have been great on Rubber Soul
johntdrums - I thoroughly enjoyed this whole record. You recorded the record I wish The Beatles would have recorded. Thank you and your band for doing this!
This is one of many Paul songs that John kicked off A Hard Day's Night, resulting in him having 9 new songs to Paul's 2. Paul's demo (used as the basis for this very good tribute recording) was recorded on the last day of studio work for the LP, as was John's demo of No Reply, which made it to their next LP. Other important Paul songs removed were, famously, A World Without Love, the important song (lyrically) From A Window and a moderate song Nobody I Know, all of which became top ten UK hits in the hands of lesser artists.
Recordings of "It's for You" as The Beatles may have performed it are available on the 1989 album by Bas Muys entitled Secret Songs: Lennon & McCartney and on the 1998 release It's Four You by the Australian tribute band The Beatnix ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It%27s_for_You )
John and Paul wrote the song for their friend Cilla Black in '64. Her version is excellent and was a big hit here in England. Cilla was the hat check girl at the Cavern Club, incidentally and went on to build a career in show business - but not in the USA. She did make a great job of singing Burt Bacharach's song Alfie. Cilla was managed by Epstein until his suicide and produced by George Martin, as were The Beatles, of course.
This song is written by John and Paul for Cilia Black, but they have never recorded it. themselves. This is Beatnix's performance - a Beatles tribute band

Hey all, This was "The Beatnix" from Australia. I can verify that because I was the drummer. We recorded this in May 1994 and it was just meant to be a bit of fun and a tribute to the Beatles' music. We didn't care if we weren't exact replicas. We just wanted to recreate the 19 songs they had given away to other artists in a Beatles style. If you want to see another example, check out our version of Stairway To Heaven on You Tube and you'll see what I mean.
This is all fine and good. Cilla Black has the cover version steeped in history as the Beatles were involved, but the definitive version is 1969's 7" single by Three Dog Night / Listen to all 3, give Lennon/McCartney their deserved props, and then see which earliest versions are more festive - thank you for posting this cover of whatever this is - DAVEDJ
It's amazing how you guys recreated all these songs. I listened to all of them, just wanted to say a big thank you from a fan! Do you have a fanpage or something, I'd love to see more stuff from you guys
No, is not from Anthology - its not the Beatles, but the Beatniks from a cover album of songs the Beatles wrote but never performed. They did the tracks in the style the Beatles would have. They're pretty good!
There was a Detroit area band, named Springwell, that had a minor hit with this song in 1970. The tempo is more upbeat & it also has a pretty cool Garage Band vibe. It's on here, give it a spin & no it's not my band. I was only 12 when Springwell's version was released.
Beatles should have done this one and switched between John and Paul's voice on different lines like on a few other songs. It needs some of the timbre of John's voice. It'd be a brilliant Beatles song, another classic for all time.
I think this is one instance when Paul's voice just doesn't cut out which is rare for him . Lucky they got Cilla who absolutely nailed it . I love the song which is so simple , yet so effective .
They gave this away! Gave . . . it . . . away. Oh God. Presumably, the Beatles didn't even record it - I can't find any version that's actually by them, this is a cover. Most songwriters would kill to write something like this, and Lennon/McCartney just . . . tossed it aside.
The Beatles it's for you. Is one of John Lennon songwriter. Anthology Beatles has to many songs to listen rare to apressiation early Beatles. Until the final recording and more I and the tree Beatles together before George rip . I love it
John Taylor...you guys did a very nice job with these early songs of John and Paul....your harmnoies are spsot on! nice lead with the 12 string....are the "Beatnix" still around? or "forever " now on TH-cam? Cheers ^/^
I understand why this song wasn't released as a single, or on any album originally. It wasn't a very good song. However, 4 years later (1968) a new band appeared, and turned it into a real rocker on their first album. That band was Three Dog Night.
Very Byrds sounding. Vocals have that similar drone to the Byrds, a bit folksy sounding, and not even talking about the 12 string, if just sounds like a Byrds song.
Very nice. McCartney's melodic gift is amazing.
It sounds very Paul. I've never even heard Cilla Black's version!
The songs just streamed out of them. Astounding genius. We were so lucky to have The Beatles.
This isn't the Beatles, just a very lousy imitation of them.
@@magneto7930The song however, is Paul's, written for Cilla Black.

Totally agree, as it borders on hope and melancholy. It is written in a minor key and utilizes a descending bass line. Excellent observation.

Listen to it done by 3 Dog Night
I've been a Beatles fan since the sixties and only ever heard this song "IT'S FOR YOU" recorded by Cilla Black. R.I.P. Loved this version better.....
Amazing that this is a throwaway. Compare the chord structure for this song to just about ANYTHING else from 1963/64. They were amazing.
Paul should of kept this one for the boys instead of Schlepping it to Cilla

I'd say some day
I'm bound to give my heart away when I do
It's for you love, true love
Seems to be all I'm thinking of
But it's true it's for you
They said that love was a lie told me that I
Never should try to find
Somebody who'd be kind kind to only me
So I just tell them they're right
Who wants a fight tell them I quite agree
Nobody'd love me then I look at you
And love comes love shows
I give my heart and no one knows that I do
It's for you
Increíble,impresionante,de verdad la perfeccion
