@@obic123 just goes to show that DCS is in desperate need of some optimization. With top of the line hardware and it's still struggling. Let's hope the multithreading lives up to the hype.
Top tip - if you are going to fix OTT to 30hz, then ensure your quest 2 is at 90hz (a derivative of 30), otherwise you will fix at 36fps which doesn't work really. I've done a video on this and to be honest, although it was done on a 1080ti, i now have a 4080 and the principal is exactly the same. Thanks for the effort but next time, how about a demo flight to prove the point?
Since they released the last update, OpenXR can be ran naitivly. Make sure you add the command line until they force it again.. You can find it on the forums very easily under the changelog thread. I have a 2060 and run it at its native 1:1 full render resolution (Oculus slider all the way up). This means the Encode Width Resolution should be at 3664 (that is the width of one eye). For clarity, and to get rid of compression the bitrate should be turned up (I run mine at 960) but 500 is pretty standard. I wouldn't go higher than 3960 on the Encode Resolution as you can't push the resolution any higher in the headset and you are essentially spreading out available pixels through a larger format that isn't visible.. I personally also have dynamic bitrate off.. I don't want the software deciding for me what amount of data to be rendered. ASW -OFF I also use FOV 0.75 x 0.75 ( this doesn't change the imagine but you gain massive performance with it because it doesn't have to render 25% if not more of the image for each eye. You can not tell either.. If it does improach on the edges, bump it out to 0.80 x 0.80......) Note: The biggest killer in DCS is MSAA and Shadows. Turn them OFF if you need frames. Try and super sample 1.1-1.5 in DCS before anything else.. ((Full Oculus slider/3664 - BR-500/960 - GPU and DBR off, ASW OFF, FOV .75 -- DCS / MSAA-Shadows - OFF, PD-1.1-1.5) This will get your the sharpest imagine possible. If you want some further performance, use the OpenXR tool kit. I used CAS @ 65% Sharpening, and FFR @ quality preset. I also use input damping @ -20ms to smooth out the jitters. Post Processing and color correction is optional but looks nice. While your guide definitely gives you performance, it will majorly lack clarity. So keep that in mind. I get 40-50FPS with those settings on a RTX2060 and an i7-8700k @ 3.8ghz.
