Today I broke down and Analysed the Trailer to see what can be seen.

We might need to get in between Cayde and Crow/Mithrax, depending on how up to date he is on things.
In the original trailer for the final shape Ikora explains that “we stand alongside those we once fought against” so I doubt it will be too much of a shock for him.
Okay for Crow. He's probably going to get one good headshot off that takes him out. Then the ghost comes in and he's just like "oh"

Important note! The annihilator totem is glowing with arc energy, rather than the standard fiery solar darkness energy. It's very possible this is the first time we've seen a Light powered annihilator totem, thanks to Savathun's experiments.
Or she is just attacking it with an Arc blast, Savathûn may be needed to neutralise these Totems near the entrance for either the rest of us or Non-light Bearer's to be able to enter safely.
They may be set there near the enterance to suppress the connection to the Light of those attempting to enter and be a secondary line of defence to prevent Guardians from following the Witness.
The 15th Wish used by Crow probably by-passed that entry. Orbmaybe he did come through that way, got Suppressed and Cadye jumps him.
Cayde: "Hey there, long time no see....." draws overcharge Ace with deadly intent "...How's your Sister?".
Crow: ..... (insert guess I'll die Meme)
Mara: "He made it, I sens..." sneezes midsentence then recoils in sudden shock "... he died, he was attacked as soon as he entered."
The sneeze, the common trope of someone talking about you thing, would be a hilarious addition to make the situation a little more light hearted.
And we all know there's a paticular subset of fans that want to hear Mara do some sort of adorable Sneeze noise that betrays her normally regal & stoic demeanour.
Imagine it's being fueled by light to help us, savathun is charging it to save us from waves of enemies
I think that crow opening the door for us opens the door for EVERYONE in Sol, so Xivu's armies follow us, savathun's lucent brood enter to study and experiment with the light, and our allies come to reinforce us.
Perhaps. There may be an episode in the future, where we must route out these enemies for the Travaler, so only we may enter and leave.
And then it's WARRRRRR

I imagine Savathun would likely reinforce us given the right situation due to a mutual opposition against the witness as well. Despite most likely being in there for the reason you explained.
For the damaged statue at about 7:45, there is already at least one damaged veiled statue in the game. In Root of Nightmares, the statue in the room past the tormentor that guards the first secret chest, if you drop down in the red room you'll see the statue is floating with the bottom broken.
I'll need to take another look at that. Much obliged.

I just noticed something extremely cool that I've never heard mentioned before! Look at the Witness' forehead closely. See the checkered pattern? Some of the squares are filled in and others are hollow. Its the flower game literally tattooed on its forehead!

I feel like, if Savathun really is there, she might be there only as an ally of opportunity. She doesn't want the final shape to be enacted, so it would make sense if she pledged her troops to this, but only at this moment. As the old saying goes: the enemy of my enemy is my friend

I'm surprised nobody is talking about the voice shouting "Enough" at the end. It's almost certainly the Witness growing frustrated, but the way the voice trails off sounds...very different. Just struck me as curious.
Id say nobody is talking about that because to me it sounds nothing like the witness at all. I feel like its clearly cayde.
Reminded me of the Witness losing their temper with Calus. Pretty sure it's the same 'Enough!' voice clip they used then.

At this time, I’m reminded of the Early Cut version of the Destiny 1 Intro, and it actually explained why the Astronauts came with guns. Humanity detected a Alien Ship Crashing on Mars, so weaponized Astronauts go to check it out, they encounter *“The Witch”* which looks like a White-Blueish Humanoid being with white gear and a white-blueish Raghu robe. They say in an alien language *”The Traveler is coming. Everything you know is about to change.”* The Traveler then began causing Rain on Mars, the Witch touches a drop, and disappears…
I’d love it if they ended up bringing back “The Witch” as a Light-Version of the Witness. It could be the Female voice we heard in the last trailer!

The writers for Bungie seem to have been trying to tie in some old elements of the original cut storyline for a while now and I'm all for it.
I think you might be incorrect. With the description you gave, ‘the witch’ could’ve been the Exo Stranger, sent back to when the first arrived in Sol thanks to the experiments with Vex technology.

I think she maybe the veil. In the unveiling lore many thought it was the witness , however as mentioned the Witness always speaks in plural. The one speaking in the book however doesn't so he, is the knife as mention in the flower game lore

I still have my wish/hope that Savathun goes the revive oryx while we’ve been busy and we see all 3 siblings together, and the biggest hope is that all 3 siblings get revenge against the witness for lying to them and using them
Fighting along side the original darkness enemies of destiny 1 would be so poetic man, standing side by side with oryx utilizing touch of malice and the slammer would be so raw
The Mithrax frame is strange - as you pointed out a few videos ago, Mithrax specifically says he can't go with us in the autograph book. So is he somehow able to get in at the final battle? Is he just fighting out in Sol? Is it a memory? Very interesting.
A fair point. It also looks like he's on a background made to look like Europa. So perhaps these are memories of our allies and foes conjured up by the Pale Heart.

It's very likely that our Allies aren't physically in The Pale Heart but rather, due to our memories of comradery, are conjured up by the Traveler to fight beside us. Savvy is possibly here because she represents the closest thing to the Traveler's original plan of uplifting the Krill and Savathun having beef with the Witness for lying to the God of Deception about the godwave.

Why would mithrax be correct in saying that he can’t go with us if no one in the lore knows how the portal works yet. Why would we or crow not be able to link the portal properly and open it to everyone, and what would make it so that only guardians can enter? I think it’s the real mithrax
I've got an idea for what the covered statues could be. For a while I was thinking that they were representing a Humanoid personification of the traveler, but I think they might actually just be the one precursor that got away. The collectors edition lore books talked about two precursor that mimicked the gardener and winnower, one joined in the merging while the other left. I think the voice In the trailer is that precursor who has been hiding in the traveler trying to help stop the final shape and the covered statues were made by the witness to remember that precursor.
The enemy variety in the Pale Heart is nuts!! We have seen Hive, Scorn, Taken, Shadow Legion and the Dread

Honestly wonder if The dread are replacing the scorn. Too many enemy factions will make it feel off vs the rest of the game. Taken(Maybe Hive), and the Dread feel like the two that should be present in the Pale Heart
@@pokerus4511 i think narratively it all makes sense since they all follow and worship the Witness but id like to see them fight side by side more. We have seen Taken and Scorn fight alongside in Warlords Ruin and in Vow of the Disciple

I didn't even catch that it was the Witness screaming the first couple times I heard it until I read this. Holy shit. To see something that has so far only shown a "calm" composure actually scream and break that façade of a level temper, barely able to hide its agitation is-

The appearance of the leaders of our allies showing up makes me hope for one of two things: 1. An Endgame style final battle montage where all the power of our side is brought to bear on the Witness' forces. 2. Some new public events that when you turn then heroic one of our "hero" units joins the fray; Zavala with a supercharged shield, Ikora blasting things with void; Mithrax and the splicers stunning enemies; Caiatl calling down a few royal guard and charging into the fray, and Savathun calling down a few Lucent Wizards and zapping the battlefield with arc to stun and destroy the forces of the Witness. :)
2 things interesting to note about the weird looking ogre clip:
1. There seems to be some sort of cloaked figure on top of a rock arch that the guardians go through. Who is that?
2. The aforementioned guardians are using the Aegis. How did it get there? Is it a memory or the real shield?
the cloaked figure may be cayde. hes seen in multiple instances just kinda standing around while the guardians are running around

I was looking to see if you’d done a more recent deep dive of the prophecy dungeon lore after seeing this, but couldn’t find one.
The dungeon appears to foreshadow more and more as time goes on.
The cube room’s shifting orientation appears here in the trailer, the colour palette of the moonfang armour sets (and rainbow road) is reminiscent of the prismatic subclass.
The multiple platforms in the kell echo boss room is similar to the platforming sections showcased in the final shape trailers, which makes me think it might be implemented in the final boss fight against the witness in the raid. Perhaps we’ll have to choreograph damage phases around moving platforms.
We already know we’ll have to use light and dark together in combination, as implied by the light and dark motes. I really think there’s more to it than we realised.

There is also a different looking tormentor in the trailer, that may be Nezarec. Remember that his voice persists after he dies and tells us he will live on in our memories, the pale heart is shaped by memories

Xivus Hive are indeed in the Pale Heart. If you rewatch the dev gameplay stream when they first talk about Prismatic, the section where they're talking about gunpowder gamble and duskfield (6:00 onward), you can see Xivus horde. They even transmat in with a Pyramid effect.
Also did anyone else notice the Taken have orange eyes now? Resonant Taken maybe?
I don’t even play Destiny anymore but listening to Byf distilling the lore of Destiny is something I simply can’t be without.
I remember the old Ahamkara lore card mentioned they appeared from the void when the traveler arrived (or maybe when it died it’s been nearly a decade since I’ve read it). I wonder if they’re part of the Gardener’s plan to make many different ‘plants’ that can thrive with each other.
Byf has to have some of the hardest merch out there. The black on gold is just perfect. Not to tacky but also still shows support.
18:15 just noticed the Witness’ eyes look like Eclipses. Seems fitting with his Cosmic nature and the Darkness of its Pyramids drowning out the light of countless suns
I do want to point out that with savathun, if it was just an apparition of her then in would be cloudy and white, the model of her in the trailer is her actual boss model or character model, so I’m gonna go out and say that she’s most likely going to be fighting alongside us or at least helping us out to some extent. If that’s the case I can’t wait to fight with the witch queen!

Considering that the Ahamkara first arrived in Sol when they travelled along side the Traveler, I wouldn't be surprised if they have a deeper connection.
As for Savathune getting into the Pale Heart, she might of taken advantage of her connection with Crow or even us kinda like how we are.
Or maybe once we open a stable portal it leaves the door open for her to follow.

Both Riven and Savathun made the condition that ONLY ONE gets through. She can't infiltrate it after that wish is done, she also has to wait.

Shuro Chi also mentioned that the pink Asphodelia was cultivated by the Awoken and is a different strain to the red ones found in the black garden.
3:34 the Krill in this Tree of Silver Wings looks like Savathun, perhaps showing that somehow her using the light has entangled her in the lights deal? Kind of ironic for the god of trickery to get snared in a trap
18:46 another thing, about the Big knight you think is algorath or whoever, and these tomb ships, I believe these are Xivu’araths ships and troops… this implies that we may see other factions loyal to The Witness in the Pale Heart. Scorn, Shadow Legion, and the Sol Decisive may all be fighting alongside the Dread here
We've seen Shadow legion and taken so far. So yea I'm expecting scorn and sol divisive too
The Sol Divisive are the only Faction that lacks Paracausal Power though, Mithrax had stated that he couldn't come with us for a similar reason if I recall correctly.
So only those whom wield Paracausal Power can enter as far as we know.
The Scenes with Mithrax and Caital may either be us reshaping the interior of the Pale Heart as we go with our own experiences or are the real versions of them maintaining the fight to defend Sol in general while we head into the Pale Heart.
Or Savathûn may have been forced to enter to take out the Totems near the entrance so Non-Paracausal beings can enter safely.
Will be interesting to find out.

One of my biggest questions from the trailer is what is that tormentor with the new duds near the end of the trailer, because it appears to have a helmet or mask similar to that of Nezarec not exactly but in a similar shape with a two horned like structure as well as new bicep armor, and appears to be very big, so it might be some kind of mini boss in the campaign, and I feel like it must be important if it’s physically looks like Nezarec
Hi Byf, are you going to do a video on the complete story of destiny from the start up until final shape, or like an updated video from shadow keep to final shape?? I love the lore and the videos but I didn’t play the last year and have a lot to catch up on and am never sure which videos to watch to get up to date for final shape.

Well, Savathun has been planning the entrance into the Traveler long before acquiring the light. So I think it is safe to assume she doesn't have our (or the Travelers) best interest at heart. For what the devs have said, the theme of the expansion seems to be very race like. Having multiple players racing to win makes sense.
I don't think there will be much time to have Xivu making an appearance.
Another thing I noticed is that the head of the boss Tormentor at 16:48 looks eerily close to the shape of Nezarec's. That being said the Tormentor itself doesn't look "flashy" enough (for lack of a better word) to be Nezarec in a different, non-Light corrupted form imo, but still very interesting.

Asphodel is a real flower. In mythology, it's associated with death and Hades. It has a cameo in the first Harry Potter novel when professor Snape mentions that it can be used to make a sleeping potion called the draught of living death. How appropriate that it would show up in the traveler.
11:17 That symbol is a mashup of the Rosicrucian cross and the Octogram Star, or the Star of Ishtar/Inanna. The Egyptian counterpart to Ishtar (Queen of Heaven) would be Isis. Funny, given how important Osiris is to Destiny lore.
The foliage appearing at the beginning reminded me of a hunter casting golden gun - specifically Cayde. Considering it's followed by a line about him waking up here, I figured that was him being "manifasted"
After seeing the Artifact from VoG in it, I'm even more convinced a part of it takes place in VoG itself (the other reason is in the first trailer we had, there was a clear shot in VoG, and had normal Vex, not the VoG Vex)

2:52 of the Developer Gameplay Preview, you can see a Lightbearer Acolyte spawn in amongst the other Hive. Savathun’s forces will certainly have a roll to play.
At exactly 7:10 you can see the face of a woman, who looks like she's wearing a wreath of flowers as a crown, etched into the stone in the background. Gardener?
It's at 7:11 but you're right. There is also a lion carved into a rock at 3:29 so idk how much I'd look into this.

the tree at the start looks like a mental image i remember from somewhere of the pose a Warlock makes when using Sundancer/Radiance/whatever the new super is gonna be called
the flowers seen in the Speaker's Orrery or whatever it's called also look a bit like those on the Arbor Warden exotic titan chestplate, which iirc can't be affected by shaders

If I'm remembering correctly the statue thats sliced during the ahsa cutscene is very close to the scene with the mass suicide. I assumed after that was shown that the witness put the bodies in the statues as some sort of range extender to let it control ships and speak from afar.
I have that shaker from the original run! It's my favorite think to drink anything out of! And I have the occasional Guardian peek me with it, which makes it all the more special!
That statue in the first image almost looks like the statue on Venus by the first cliff you come to outside the archeology.
The weird doggy in glass reminds me of the weird doggies on the ice planet trapped in ice obelisks that the Drifter and one of his crew came upon
Whether Savathun is there as a memory or actually there, I think it's probably got something to do with Crow. She's been messing with his head for some time now, so it could be Crow's trauma relating to being manipulated creating the memory, or she could be using Crow as a backdoor the same way we plan to.

Could be any number of people. We're the obvious suspects, but I could see it being Ace, Amanda, the Vanguard, Crow (Uldren), etc

Definitely think Savathuun will be an ally at least for the moment in tfs. The lucent hive back in the reveal trailer of prismatic may have been hostile but that seems to be how Savathuun operates and just lets her hive do what they want mostly and not indicative of her also being hostile to us.
I think finch was added purely to show the lucent hive have more of a decision in what they do and how they operate, i mean savathun couldve easily had a lucent hive crush finch, but she seems to let him operate however he pleases
one thing I want to mention, I think it might be the real savathun, for better or for worse. To my knowledge, we've only fought mithrax once (optional, you can choose to focus the hive knight), and caital never (besides nightmare caital). And the order of it being mithrax -> caital -> savathun kiiiinda implies that she'll be an ally after a boss or something
That tree is creepy. Reminds me of the breaking wheel from the medieval days. Lbs would be crushed, and then the shattered limbs would we woven into the spikes, and the wheel then suspended. Some messed up stuff. It could also be symbolic of the power of the light, something along the lines of "With great power comes great responsibility".
That mechanism is used to study the Traveler and the light from what I understand. It looks like an enormous version of a smaller mechanism that we've see on Io and I think a few other places. Again, no confirmation, but everywhere I remember it being is somewhere that the Traveler would have been studied. I think Ikora might even have one near her.
@byfe they DO show the clarity statue getting split, but it’s in a seasonal cutscene not a physical statue that we get to inspect

I honestly have gone from starting to be finished with destiny to feeling like I’ve never played it before ever I’m really excited for this dlc and if it’s really fun I do hope it’s repayable which it probably will be but if I enjoy it more then how excited I am for it then it’s definitely a banger
Personally I think the tree of silver wings is kinda reference to our memory of the events of season of arrivals, with savathun stoping our messages with the darkness, the krill representing sathona
11:09 this is clearly a door BUT the way its opening, its almost as if its representing the traveller and light (the light of the symbol literally fades) leaving a civilisation's grasp as all the hands reach for it but it gets further from them.

I would also like to point out, at 4:58, the Hunter entering Transcendence very clearly has colors of Resonance on their left arm
Now that could just be representative of the Darkness given that their other arm is white (representing the Light), but a certain part of me is holding out hope for a hidden 3rd Darkness subclass, bringing the total number of subclasses to 7 (Bungie's favorite number 👀)
On the subject of Kelgorath i dont really think that is him because if that is the case then it appears to have been restored and no longer a taken and that is pretty significant because that means likely that someone had to go rescue him in the ascendant plane or where he retreats to (like the corrupted strike) but that cant be Xivu Arath since she's no longer capable of going ascendant after Eris spell.
I think the frozen creature will be part of the raid, not necessarily inside the traveler, but maybe in a pyramid? also, I noticed savathun looks different. I think she’s not there to fight us but rather to help us that’s what I’m going for anyway, it’s going to be one hell of a ride that is for sure.
I still want to see Eris and Drifter vs Xivu - having that happen in the Pale Heart would be fucking awesome.
Idk about savathun being a fake in the trailer. I think it’s actually her. Due to the fact that her apparitions usually have that blue glow/hue around them. That is nowhere seen on her in this

Also I have a theory that the knight with the axe actually isn’t kelgorath but Alak hul, since he’s canonically still alive and this is the finale so savathun needs all the help she can get. Or it could very well just be a random knight and I’m just overthinking it.
Byfs idea that they're made of our memories is possible, but I'll also agree that, if this is a fake Savathun, it's not one she's made. She also looks somewhat different from her old form, so it's possible she's changed herself or is trying to in order to gain the same powers we have. Caital and Mythrax though...still up the air.
It’s the finale of the light and darkness saga, that is definitely the real Savathûn, she has to be there at the end because she was the second largest player in this saga behind the Witness
I agree, there are likely some elements of her Lucent Brood, probably absorbed members from other fallen Broods (was the Ghosts of the Deep contingent of Lucent Hive absorbed members from Crimson Tower Brood who were decendents of Crota & Oryx?) that are acting on their own accord.
Perhaps choosing to infiltrate the Pale Heart to attempt to bring back Oryx, Crota and their line as Lucent Hive.
Savathûn may have been forced to come to bring them into line and/or help neutralise the Hive magic & Totems of War of Xivu.
I looked like she is either being hit with an Arc discharge of some kind or is blasting the Totems of War with Arc herself in that scene.

Caital is interesting, it almost looks like the spikes on her back grow and/or shimmer with a Stasis like effect. Caital sized Diamond Lance dispensers? That would be insanely cool (Bad Pun absolutely intended).

It might not even be Kelgorath to begin with. If it is, it's not the first time something has become un-taken (since in the Taniks strike in D1 Taniks could be Taken).

@@Genjinaro Lightblade's Ghost escapes, could be him that is leading a revolt against Savathûn's rule of the Lucent Brood.
They are a mix of several fallen Broods of Oryx, Crota, The Necromancer one that made a deal with Xol (Crota's Brother that was expunged from the records) and their various childrens Broods (the Crimson Brood etc) in addition to Savathûn's own Brood after all.
These less than loyal Lucent Brood were also likely the one's that attempted to revive Oryx in Ghosts of the Deep.
I highly doubt that Savathûn or Immaru approved of, let alone gave orders to, attempting to resurect Oryx with a combination of necromancy and the Light via a Hive Ghost.
Eris knocked Savathûn down in the Hivegod pantheon hierarchy along with Xivu, it's not surprising that Lucent Hive not of her original Brood would leave her for someone like Lightblade, who was able to fight Oryx one on one before serving him in the past (if I recall correctly).
None the less, he is a powerful and respectable Hive leader....unlike Kelgorath...

Kelgorath is given chance after chance after chance with more and more power invested into him by Xivu.

One is a sharp & pointy immortal alien that's killed numerous Guardian's and even the Hunter Vanguard.
And the other is Kelgorath...I honestly think Xivu keeps bringing him back just to laugh at him fail to feel better about the numerous L's she took. He is a joke, but not for our amusment.
I think it’d make the most sense to destroy the last safe city or at least have it overrun and have everyone have to retreat/move into the traveller because if we don’t defeat the witness it all ends, then we’d basically have a moveable last safe city
If i had to wager a guess, id say the veiled figure is meant to represent the Winnower and so it is never intentionally sliced like other statues as it is the one being even the Witness would not dare impose its design upon
At the risk of generating Imbaru, I feel like Savathûn wouldn't use the "multilayer wish" trick again after the Curse on the Dreaming City. Even if the 15th wish is literally our only choice, she'd avoid being unoriginal on principle.

I have always believed that Ahamkara either comes from the traveler or follows the Traveler like moths chasing a flame.
I always wonder why, in the Witch Queen campaign I believe, in the pyramid ship on Europa, the cabal sometimes target and attack the veiled statue. makes ya think.
