as someone who really enjoyed the Mechon in Xenoblade Chronicles this is specifically what i've been waiting for from the Vex for years.
just the shock of encountering a huge, menacing Vex that just speaks. and does so with such utter disrespect, and treats everything else even the smaller Vex, like they're stupid.
i'm serious shit-talking robots/mechs is such a thing. and would do so much in characterizing the Vex as an antagonist faction especially after all these years of fans being bored w/ the Vex and difficult to feel anything towards
It's never gonna happen. The stuff they'd say bungie will never write cause it would make this game adults only rated.

This black garden fight was marginally better then D1s imo, really showed how much enemy density and health have changed
Yeah. I actually felt pressured in this fight. I couldn’t catch the a break from all the small bits of damage coming in, which made it more entertaining.
My solar restoration build absolutely carried my solo ass through that last fight. I would have been overwhelmed otherwise. Good job, bungie!
My fallen sunstar and delicate tomb kit allowed me to just tear through that horde of vex. It wasn't even fair for the lil guys.
I don't know how it was in d1. But for me in my gyrfalcon, ros arago and edge transit.
I absolutely trashed them all with nearly no effort.

I want a scene of Cayde teasing Crow about his hunter vanguard position.
I mean, Crow is the reborn Uldren and Uldren did fulfil Cayde's Vanguard Dare, so I anticipate that before this is over he'll give Crow his approval to be the Hunter Vanguard.
@trashjash he didn't fulfill the dare. The dare doesn't apply to crow since uldren pulled the trigger. Crow wants the job to honor cayde after he learned of what he meant to everyone.

When the cutscene plays, showing Crow and Cayde meeting, that pulse of Light emanating from the Witness’s fortress, is that what Immaru meant when he says that he and the other Ghosts could feel the Traveler screaming? It did sound ominous when he listen closely….yikes.

When my boyfriend and I did the final mission together, at the end, he said something similar. I was sitting there shocked already that Crow and Cayde were there together. And then my bf said: "The traveler is crying". I....was...so...shocked. I sat there for a good minute in silence so dumbfounded...
Just a small correction for the Titan Exotic its text is "Every enemy of the Vanguard had a plan until..."
The Hunter exotic is "Into the Traveler, the hunt continues."

@@garrettviewegh9028 it all started when mysterious female Exo gave us "don't have time to explain why I don't have time to explain" meme, and now, 10 years in, as Light and Darkness Saga concludes, we're seeing the Black Heart destroyed in same exact sequence as the first time. That Cayde/Crow fight was really cool and ended very much funny, but the idea of keeping the Black Heart as final attempt to twart the plan of pursing the Witness, and making it EXACTLY the same layout and three Vex Minds, made that Full Circle Moment just sooooooooooo much Perfect!
Close, it will truly be full circle when we put the Witness down with the Khvostov, IMO

Considering all the character development Riven’s been through this season if she DID grant Crow’s wish to bring Cayde back then that would be the most fitting end for her character. Almost as an apology to “reverse” the one thing she and Savathûn did to Uldren that scarred him into his current life.
Her last ever wish was to do something good that had no benefit to herself, with no strings or tricks attached.
Just like Tarannis would.
Name of the ship for this lore being "unforseen consequences", so I think there is a chance for something ill to be attached to it
@@BrazarB it might just be wishful thinking but i really think riven knew she was at the end of her life and her reflecting on Tarannis’ selflessness may have encouraged her to do something good for someone that she’d caused so much hurt to. Just one good thing right at the end because why not?
@@BrazarBthe unforseen consequence is the wish itself. Crow doesn't realize he made a wish, and something (Cayde) is going to change as a result, hence the name.
@@voltus20 which is something where I see a huge plothole. that Crow is going into the Traveler is just because his and Maras Connection is so strong that this will be the way for the rest of us. But when that connection is so damn strong that it can be used through a portal into an unkown space, how the hell did Crow not sense that it was fricking Riven he talked to and not Mara?
@@BrazarB Unforeseen doesn't mean bad. It could be an unforeseen positive - by Uldren wishing to be able to make things right with Cayde, he brings him back. I think that's all it is.

@@kais295 Yes! Basically Riven was appearing in Mara form, just like in Forsaken, to Crow. She apologizes for manipulating him. He says he wishes he could say shooting Cayde was a mistake. Her eyes shine, which is what happens when Ahamkara grant a wish, and that's that.
I'd go as far as to say her mate Taranis' benevolent nature, and refusal to alter wishes for his own benefit, taught Riven how to be selfless. I believe her Cayde wish was granted in that way, as a way to honor Taranis, and do some good before she disappeared for good.

I mentioned this on Evaze's story, but it is quite concerning that the Vex could simulate the Black Heart and its power in the first place.
It screams them being able to simulate paracausality, even if they had the Witness' assistance.
That's definitely gonna be their involvement in the story going forwards. It might even change their base nature.
More like they made something on accident when trying to make something else entirely. They can create something of paracausality but not what the even remotely intended. I believe it is cause for concern but they clearly don't understand the paracausal enough to completely make anything they can control.
Asher Myr did it.
Witness helped them twice.
With enough time they learned to suppress saints light.
Vex can definitely evolve to simulate paracausality at this rate
I’m not sure the black heart was ever meant to replace it though. More likely to keep others from using it while it didn’t have access.
@@equinoxruinouseffigy7856 Considering it was planted there by the witness and not the vex, who only revered what they couldn't understand-- yeah it's essentially a lock or a plug on a tool from the witness' perspective.

note, the flavor text that has the "into the traveler the hunt continues" came from balance of power, the hunter exotic, not wishful ignorance, the titan exotic. wishful ignorance's flavor text is "Every enemy of the Vanguard had a plan until..."
Titan one could be melee based then, since that text seems like a play on the Mike Tyson quote "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face."

@@QTEila no. focusing so many exotics into melee just KILLS titans viability because surprise surprise getting into melee range in high end content results in your death 90% of the time. and don't get me started on it's supers...
That final mission had me more genuinely giddy about a mission in Destiny than I've felt in a long time. When that door opened, pure joy.
I didn't even process that it was the same door from back in d1 vanilla until I saw the Black Heart. By then I was giddy and fighting solely to put that stupid blob back in the ground lol

Did anyone notice during the Hydra boss fight that there where Vex Hobgoblins not of Sol Divisive.
These where regular Vex encountered anywhere in the system and they where broken spinning around aimless not trying to hit you. Furthermore after you defeat the Hydra and get the objective "destroy remaining hostiles" you can spare these three hobgoblins.
If it where just bungie using the wrong assets I would brush this off but because of these two factors mentioned above I think it's a intentional story beat.
For some reason the other Vex where in the Black Garden, we don't know their motives but seeing how they where damaged by the Hydra Boss and spinning around this was either a) a intervention by the rest of the Vex to stop the Black Heart
Or
b) the Sol Divisive waging war on the other Vex
Vex from outside Sol consider the Sol Divisive anomalous, and we know from the Avalon exotic mission what they do to anomalous vex (like Asher).
Now that i think about it, it is entirely possible that the reason we have never seen combat frame vex is because the Sol Divisive was cutting off the rest of the vex from accesing the system, and after their fall, the whole of the vex true force can finally reach us.
It would make for the perfect setup for the next big bad.

Bungie is setting up The Final Shape PERFECTLY. I will admit, the delay was a great idea.
It’s awesome how Riven manipulated a wish out of crow.. to HELP us. She couldn’t do it directly without a wish so she found a way. I really love that twist - almost thank you for saving her clutch.
I really appreciated that they changed up the fight by activating more of the minds at once. It caught me off guard when I was running from one and ran into another. D1’s fight is very much one at a time.

I like the symmetry of the exotic hand cannons all having connections to one another.

I would say Last Word and Malfeasance instead. Or as well. Malfeasance was designed by or for the Drifter to kill the original owner of Last Word.

The end fight and the cutscene are both just, by the Witness, i loved it, i loved it so much, and the short conversation we got between Crow and Cayde?? I loved it

I just remembered something. in the lore tab of heart of inmost light it says that while the traveler didn't speak to the man in the lore tab, it could communicate what it wanted to him. I hope that when tfs comes out, and if there are whispers like the ones in lightfall, the heart of inmost light is one of the exotics that can translate them.

I'm absolutely loving that cayde...is using a reformed ace, and that crow using hawkmoon...2 guns that fit their characters and pasts.
I just wish that THIS was the reveal of the old boy. It would've been a MUCH bigger reveal and the hype behind it would've been excessively greater.

Side Note : the season finale reward and it texts, make me wonder at least if the “Mara” we saw in that one season , if at times the top was an illusion.
I feel like the exotic speaker mask feels like a slight hint to the guardian is going to be an integral part of the new higharchery in the last city/is a possible new dreamer/speaker connected character... As in, we dawn the mask, even if we take someone elses words to help them
Yes when the witness is defeated my guess on a theory is we become grey guardians. We have the light and dark but don’t serve either a call back to grey Jedi in Star Wars old republic stuff, really cool.
I think, we may be the first to be able to commune with the Gardner outside her Traveler. Maybe Osiris, and Ikora after. If it really is a type of Valhalla for legendary Guardians long dead, then communing with them and the Gardner will be important going forward. Osiris said the inside of the Traveler could unravel more paracausal mysteries. There’s still so much more we don’t know.

If I was a betting man it wouldn't surprise me if "the original plan/framework" was going to intend to have a newly rezzed Crow(former Uldren) be the closest thing we would get to another Speaker. It was perfectly served up at a time when there was the Vanguard/Tower conversation of "were we going to get another Speaker after the Red War, did we even need one ? etc " and to plop the man who killed Cayde in the middle of all that exhibiting Speaker-like qualities would've been some good stuff and cause for actual drama. Problem is I imagine Bungie felt we were way too far from a bulk of the Speaker's involvement in the story, if you didn't play D1 the Speaker kinda doesn't get much context, a little hard to follow, and obviously with Bungie tweaking the story as they went along it was probably easier to not make such a big deal of it when there was time to dedicate elsewhere.
I am so hyped for the complete story video. I have had such a hard time to find stuff to watch on youtube so having a multiple hour long lore video about one of my favorite games is gonna keep me happy.

I watched the other synopsis video when it came out, but now getting back into D2 for the first time since Shadowkeep, I was really looking for a synopsis of everything I've missed. I'm a sucker for nostalgia and that garden fight took me back to the last time my friends played destiny with me 😂 I've been solo for a while. Though now I've dragged my dad along the journey as well
I love that riven is being testy with mara sov while masquerading around the helm and granting wishes because she can
seeing the black heart, albeit a false one again after so long kinda hit me hard, destiny never makes me emotional but seeing the black garden and the black heart again really brought me back and it took me a minute before i actually started the fight

If warlocks get to hear the traveler through the speakers mask I imagine the other classes having the travelers chosen sidearm equiped will be able to as well.
One interesting thing I noticed during the mission was during the first darkness zone, there are non-sol divisive vex in some sort of state of malfunction (standing in one place, shooting aimlessly).
I have to wonder if they were trying to disrupt the plans and got taken out by sol divisive? if they were meant as sacrifices in some way?

However, such grandness of lore keeping deserves full attention, good food, and alcohol. So I will be watching it on the Sunday of that weekend because I have Sundays off!
I just wish that they kept the excerpt from the Union in the boss fight. That is THE best piece of music in destiny and I hope that it will return someday
When I fought the boss in this mission, the order was actually Past (White and Gold), Future (Black, circle head), Present. Not sure why the order was different this time around.

Your channel and the cutscenes are pretty much the only things still tying me to Destiny. My interest in playing the game died long ago due to the lackluster gameplay that has hardly changed in a decade, but damn is the story finally starting to come full circle.
I don't think I ever went through the Black Garden fight back in D1, but it was pretty neat to see it here as well.
I love that Crow was "reborn" in the light and Mara was "reborn" in the dark.
10:53 it would make more sense if it were those few Ahamkara that escaped the Great Hunt right? Maybe The Witness captured them for experimentation.

Despite the fact that this was the lead up season to final shape I thought it was a rlly rlly gd season activities where pretty fun gear was a little disappointing but the storyline was amazing we get to see another side to riven whilst also seeing another possibility for the relationship between the last city and ahamkara

I can't help but think it'd be funny as hell to see how he reacts to every that's happened on Europa since too, if he remembers his previous reboots. "Wait, the Head's awake? You did WHAT!? ... Oh you blew it up, good job."
:) I think the Traveler wanted us to have a guide while exploring, so it was going to give us one, and the wish of Crow decided who/what our guide would be; Cayde.

They could've done like an oversoul thing, where as the Heart fades it starts a countdown where you have to shoot it , otherwise it'll blow up and you have to restart the fight

When I went through the vex portal into the black garden where the heart was in destiny 1 I was so excited to feel the rush again that my teammate I was playing with said I missed a rally flag. I was so excited and happy to be back in time :)
There’s definitely some Ahamkara doings here, but I think the mechanism of Cayde returning will be the darkness’ corruption of the Traveller; given its strong link with memory. In this case, Crow’s memories, specifically.
This version having the full memories of Cayde (if he does) could be the result of a guardian’s link with the traveller, and its ‘memories’ if them in some form.
i wonder what is causing the light to pulse like that at The Witness’ Monolith
Just want to point out the subtle shift in colors here--Originally, when Cayde spoke his mouth flashed orange/ yellow.... Now it's almost pure white, like the cracks running along his gun.
Also, in Saint's dream... wasn't he leaking something similar? Something glowing almost like Vex milk, but not?
All exos from the deep stone crypt are made using vex milk that has been exposed to the darkness. Maybe in Cayde’s rebirth he’s had all the darkness inside him replaced with the light?
I'm still not over the heartbeat sound effects that were there this time. At least I don't remember a heartbeat sound that loud way back in D1.
the black garden was far better then the OG wow it was awesome and the scene with crow/cayde that blow my mind 100%
The Thing I’m Most Excited About in regards to The Gardener and The Winnower was that the Soundtrack Titles for TFS got leaked, and some of the song Titles are Crazy
I knew it was gonna be the black heart the moment the screen turned that specific dark yellow
I actually had no idea that the finally was today until your video, thank you for having spoiler warnings, it allowed me to play the finally without it being ruined
Interesting point: I deleted the Unforeseen Consequences ship months ago. One of the rewards for this mission, right after that cutscene, when talking to Osiris, is the very same ship. I feeeeeel like that's pretty direct.
The reason why the Black Garden fight was a copy of the og encounter (other than just being an homage, which I appreciated as someone who got into D2 in Beyond Light and doesn't have a console) was because it was a simulation of the original that the Vex were running to try to cause interference, done so with the Witness's help. Which, on one hand, is somewhat of a good sign- it means that they can't yet simulate paracausality without extra help- but is still discomforting. Either way though, it was a tight fight for me as a solo hunter, and I enjoyed it
As for Riven's meddling, I personally interpreted her granting the wish as her giving Crow the idea to go through the portal in the first place. Cayde's glowing with light, so I feel like the Traveler is responsible for him coming back, but Riven def. tweaked some strings there, potentially in our favor
The cutscene and radio message were the best part of the finale tho imo- it took Cayde under a minute to make the 'Crow =/= Uldren' connection that so many others took years to get over (or never got over it at all), and I'm excited to see them interact- the mini crucible match was already a good start. And it ending with Osiris and Saint musing about being able to finally retire and relax soon and say they loved each other out loud after so many years of having to hide in the shadows touched my heart. It's a good way to end off with a little bit of hope when things are at their most dire
Equipping the travelers chosen with the speaker sight mask feels like the play
"Into the Traveler the hunt continues" was on the "unremarkable" Hunter legs.
The Titan arms read, "Every enemy of the Vanguard had a plan until..."
This fight is different because if you are too slow all 3 bosses can be active at once!

I really want it confirmed that we as guardians are stronger inside the pale heart. The fight with cayde has me speculating that hes tapping into a deeper connection with the light the he was able to before. It would also help if we get a little friendly boost from the traveler going into the witness fight.
I am SO glad I avoided looking at videos and online until I got a chance to play. As a player since the D1 beta, coming up to that door in the Black Garden was a sureal moment and when it opened and the Black Heart was there I lost it. Such flashbacks to that fight; it was the first time I did anything in Destiny with a non-matchmade fireteam. Did anyone else catch that Cayde KNEW Uldren was dead? I am assuming since Cayde saw a ghost he put two and two together. Also there is no sign of Sundance or another ghost for Cayde. If the Pale Heart is hanging around long term as a location it wouldn't shock me if Cayde is stuck there (for now) kind of like the knight at the end of Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade.
Those new exotics look interesting; the Warlock one really has my attention.

I have a feeling that this black garden mission is gonna be a start of the whole vex problem we might encounter in one of the episodes
When I think of items that could potentially allow us to hear the voice of the Traveler Hawkmoon is the first thing that comes to mind.
One other thing of note during the crow/cayde interaction is cayde acknowledging that he knows Uldren died. This implies that this cayde knows whats been going on in the world AFTER his death.

I really hope our warlock speaker mask will have secret dialogues with the Gardener or the Traveler, alike the Nezarec's Sin helm did in Lightfall campaign with Nezarec's voice. Also peep that the ship looks like both the machine in the Speaker's quarters from d1 as well as psionic heads and Nezarec's head and helm. Some sort of a tuning fork. I think forsaken and design choices regarding the Traveler and Nezarec/psions are somewhat influenced by Alice and the Looking Glass. At least I get those vibes when seeing the imagery and reading about Toax and the OXTA/Otzot machine. I can't wait to see and hear more on the Vex and their plans in the grand scheme of things, how the Asphodelia flowers tie in. Amazing seeing conflict and lore tying together, hopefully unsolved mysteries in lore get answers in regard to Vex, Hidden/Nine, Aphelions and Ahamkara/Wish Dragons, Neomuna and the Veil, Xivu and the hive towards the cabal on future potential battle for Torobotal and Toland's response or side to those events unfolding, and then Nezerac. There's so much unknown for potential depth and narrative to unfold. Also the ghost projection in Eververse for bright dust this week is neat and maybe foreshadowing for what may or may not happen.
Edit: was typing this as I was listening to the vid, as these all were my exact immediate thoughts when I played thru Veil Threats, so I'm glad I be on the same wavelength as Byf and not the only one hopeful. In retrospect now, I think it will be good to test out wearing Heart of Inmost Light, using Traveler's Chosen, and such themed exotics as those for potential secret lore/dialogue or interactions.
So we were all wrong. That cayde is our cayde.
Something I find weird about the whole Cayde thing is that there are no drawbacks to it, despite the ahamkara magic used to bring him back. Crow wanted to be able to talk to Cayde and apologize for what he did. It's not even like he's one of those nightmares from shadowkeep where he constantly tells Crow how bad of a person he is for killing Cayde. Instead, he's a normal guy(except for the glowing stuff) and the devs even said he's gonna serve as a guide for us.
I'm willing to bet that like how Nezarec's sin allowed us to hear his voice in Lightfall, the speaker's mask will allow warlocks to hear the voice of the traveler in the pale heart in-game (just like you mentioned).
Is it mere coincidence that this exotic is another warlock exotic?
I really hope we get Cayde's new Ace design as an Ornament. It looks so good
